Chapter 26

The atmosphere in the dorm room was a bit strange.

Lin Nan had returned the computer and was now sitting at the head of his bed, trying to look contemplative while sneaking glances at his roommates.

He had really been careless!

He thought he had gradually gained control over his feminine actions and mannerisms, and had therefore become somewhat lax recently. But he hadn't expected to make such a big mistake today.

In his eighteen years of life, he had never acted coy with any man! Even his father hadn't received such treatment.

Yet today, he had actually used an adorable tone to act cute with Chen Yao in front of his dormmates?

Fortunately, he couldn't see himself in third person during that scene, though just imagining Chen Yao acting cute made him shudder. Clearly, his roommates were disgusted too, otherwise the dorm atmosphere wouldn't be so tense. Especially Tu Junhui, usually the most boisterous one, who had now been sitting silently at his computer for half an hour.

He couldn't show his face anymore...

"Nan Nan."

Tu Junhui suddenly looked up at Lin Nan on the bed. Lin Nan shuddered, quickly lifted his blanket and dove under it, with only some hair visible.

"Are you really not going to class this afternoon?"

"I'm going, definitely going." The voice from under the blanket was muffled. Lin Nan's face was red as he wanted to explain his earlier behavior, but thinking carefully, he had no idea how to explain it.

"You could just talk it out with Chen Yao." Tu Junhui scratched his head and sighed softly, "I wanted to enjoy the air conditioning in the dorm this afternoon..."

Lin Nan didn't dare to talk to Chen Yao anymore. If he hadn't reacted quickly earlier, his roommates would have surely thought he was a pervert!

Wait, even though he had used magic to enhance his reaction speed, why was he still as slow as before when it came to these things? He only realized his mistakes after embarrassing himself.

He thought Chen Yao, being directly involved, must have been thoroughly disgusted. But unexpectedly, after a moment, Chen Yao spoke up: "If you guys don't want to go, that's fine. I'm just playing basketball anyway."

Had he... changed?

Lin Nan couldn't detect anything in his tone, but having been friends for many years, he felt that Chen Yao didn't seem bothered by the cute act, but rather... seemed happy about it?

He wasn't sure if he had heard wrong, and didn't dare to ask, just trembling under his blanket.

As class time approached, Chen Yao stood up, looked around at the two gaming and one hiding-under-blanket dormmates, and put on his shoes with resignation to head down to the sports field.

He felt that Lin Nan had become more sensitive than before, interacting with him was just like being with a girl, having to carefully protect that sensitive and fragile little heart.

He didn't know what he had done wrong just now that made Lin Nan suddenly withdraw.

Shaking his head, he changed into sports shorts, put on his sneakers, and couldn't help but ask one last time: "Are you guys really not going to class?"

"Nope, not going." Tu Junhui waved his hand, "If possible, I'd skip all future PE classes. When you come back, remember to buy me a cola, Pepsi please."

"You..."

Before he could finish cursing, a fair and delicate arm suddenly extended from the top bunk: "I want Coca-Cola!"

Chen Yao froze for a moment. Usually when looking at Lin Nan as a whole he didn't notice, but now seeing just an arm, he realized Lin Nan's hands were practically indistinguishable from a girl's.

"Then I want Laoshan." Xiong Da joined in. (TN: Mineral water.)

He had no words for these shameless dormmates and could only silently leave the room.

As soon as he left, Lin Nan quickly poked his head out from under the blanket and scurried down to take over Chen Yao's computer.

Chen Yao's computer had good specs and lots of games. Besides LOL, this guy's favorite hobby was buying various single-player games.

Lin Nan didn't like playing solo, so he directly opened the STEAM software on the desktop and browsed through Chen Yao's purchased games.

"Nekopara? Chen Yao plays games with this art style?" Lin Nan scratched his head. He didn't know much about this game, but had heard it was very popular for a while. However, after seeing the title and art style, he lost interest.

Chen Yao had also bought and downloaded last year's popular PUBG. Lin Nan didn't have a computer, so he had missed the PUBG craze. During that time when everyone was playing it, he couldn't even borrow a computer, and could only watch enviously while sitting beside Chen Yao.

Now that he had the chance, he naturally wanted to try it out.

"Da Xiong, Tu Tu, want to play PUBG?" Lin Nan hadn't had much experience with these types of games and was a bit nervous about playing alone.

"Nah, tired of it."

"Watching TV, busy."

"Alright then." Lin Nan didn't mind.

However, just as he opened the game, the dorm door suddenly opened.

Lin Yuan, whom they had just met today, walked in carrying a bag, and expressionlessly asked them: "Found a cat during PE class, want to keep it in your dorm? Chen Yao said it's okay."

"A cat?" Lin Nan quickly abandoned the game and ran over, looking into the bag to see a pair of bright eyes looking up at him. "So small, not even a month old? Can we keep it alive?"

It was an almost pure black kitten, but with snow-white paws as if stepping on clouds. Half of its tail was broken, looking particularly pitiful.

"Feed it with milk powder from the supermarket, should work." Lin Yuan handed the bag to Lin Nan and continued, "Mix the milk powder at around 60 degrees, feed when it's about 40 degrees. Keep some softened cat food in the dorm to help it wean, shouldn't be too hard to raise. There's a pet clinic in the alley behind the school's back gate, they should have everything you might need urgently. If you can't find the clinic, I can take you there."

Despite his cold appearance, he was unexpectedly helpful.

"We haven't agreed to keep it yet." Though Lin Nan said this, he had already crouched down to let the kitten out of the bag. Watching the kitten toddle around on the floor, his eyes seemed to sparkle with stars. He looked up with a hopeful expression towards Xiong Da.

Xiong Da glanced at the cat on the floor, then at Lin Nan's delighted expression: "If we're keeping it, just put the litter box on the balcony, otherwise it'll stink."

Then they looked towards Tu Junhui.

"Why is it black as coal? Where I'm from, they say black cats are unlucky." Tu Junhui said with disgust.

"Well, I've heard black cats bring wealth!" Lin Nan retorted.

Seeing Lin Nan's response, Tu Junhui could only shrug in agreement. After all, he wasn't really superstitious, he just didn't particularly like cats.

"Looks like you want to keep it?" Lin Yuan scanned the three in the dorm and reminded them, "Then think carefully about what to do with the cat during winter and summer breaks."

"My home is local, I can take it back." Xiong Da looked up at him. The two expressionless faces stared at each other for a moment before awkwardly looking away. "But I need to ask about my cat at home."

"Then it's decided! We'll keep it, I'll be responsible!" Lin Nan was overjoyed.
