Chapter 25

After a brief interaction, Lin Nan discovered that Lin Yuan wasn't as aloof as he'd imagined.

His aloofness was similar to Xiong Da's - while Xiong Da was absorbed in his own world, Lin Yuan seemed to simply use coldness as a facade.

In just one two-hour class period, that cold facade was quickly stripped away by Lin Nan and the others. The five of them - the four dormmates and Lin Yuan - played ranked games together during class, completely ignoring the teacher seriously lecturing from their lesson plan at the podium. At least they were mindful enough to keep their voices down since they were in class.

Though while playing games, Lin Nan kept feeling a cold chill down his spine, as if some vengeful spirit was staring at him.

The next class was a major-specific course, not a large lecture shared by several classes or the whole department. Lin Nan finally escaped Lina's terrifying gaze.

"From now on, I'm never going out except for class."

Back in the dorm at noon, Lin Nan made this vow without hesitation.

Chen Yao didn't know whether to laugh or cry - he'd never imagined Lin Nan could be so averse to women.

Tu Junhui was more direct, immediately teasing: "You're so scared of her - could it be you really like men? I think I'm pretty good! Want to try being together?"

"Get lost!" Lin Nan gave him the middle finger in contempt. "Go be gay by yourself, don't drag me into it."

Actually, although they often joked about being gay, Tu Junhui likely already had a girl he liked. Last year's fitness and weight loss efforts were partly because of that girl, though unfortunately it didn't work out in the end.

As some people say, it's normal for boys' dorms to have a somewhat gay atmosphere.

Back at his empty desk, Lin Nan cast envious glances at the others' computers, feeling the urge to buy a new computer again.

If they really won the competition, he could get a 3,000 yuan computer on installments and just be a bit more frugal with daily expenses.

"Hey, Nan Nan." Tu Junhui had somehow appeared behind him, holding the back of his chair. "Didn't you want to buy a computer? How about buying mine for 2,000?"

"Huh?"

"I'm thinking of getting one for over 10,000 on installments."

Now that's what you call rich...

Lin Nan was filled with envy and jealousy. Among the four dormmates, he was the only one with just 1,000 yuan in living expenses, while the others all had 2,000-3,000 or more. Especially Tu Junhui - he could talk about buying a 10,000 yuan computer with such a calm face. Truly worthy of being called wealthy.

If it were Lin Nan, he'd think twice about buying an extra bottle of cola.

"Then if I win the competition... I could buy your computer on installments?"

"Sure." Tu Junhui didn't mind the installment plan - they were dormmates after all, Lin Nan couldn't run away after buying the computer.

His computer was only two years old, bought for over 5,000 back then, now selling to Lin Nan for 2,000. Lin Nan thought it was a good deal, especially since Tu Junhui had always maintained his computer well. Games ran smoothly, and he'd never seen any blue screen issues.

Besides, Lin Nan only played LOL, so he didn't need too high-end a computer.

Lin Nan felt he was getting quite a bargain. He happily went to wash his face on the balcony, then borrowed a temporarily unused laptop from next door, bringing it back to the dorm to play games, immediately forgetting his earlier troubles.

With the magic that enhanced his reaction speed, Lin Nan played even better than before. His quick counter against Lina at the sports field was partly thanks to this magic - otherwise, he couldn't have accurately judged how to escape, let alone made those movements with a body that had never fought before.

He suddenly realized that even if he couldn't unlock all of Lilith's magic, if he could just unlock those passive magics with long-term physical effects, he might become the world's best in various aspects.

Unfortunately, most magic had no lower limits for unlocking, and the ones that did have limits required self-harm. He wasn't crazy enough to hurt himself for no reason.

The afternoon was PE class. Chen Yao was the student representative for PE, and last Monday they'd discovered this year's PE teacher was exceptionally lazy, even handing over the attendance sheet directly to Chen Yao...

"Should we skip the afternoon class?" Lin Nan suddenly suggested.

He now deeply despised PE class, especially the two laps of slow running after attendance. He felt like he could run forever, and what was even harder to accept was that he, someone with absolutely no interest in basketball, was being forced to learn proper shooting form. Although basketball shooting was supposedly going to be on this semester's PE final, with Chen Yao the PE representative helping them cheat, it shouldn't be a problem.

After all, they'd gotten through all their freshman year PE tests thanks to Chen Yao's tricks - like when the teacher called out sixteen seconds for the hundred-meter dash, Chen Yao would calmly write down fifteen seconds instead. With so many students, as long as the teacher wasn't watching constantly, they wouldn't get caught.

The idea of skipping class immediately won Tu Junhui's enthusiastic approval: "Let's skip! We can duo queue this afternoon!"

"I'm not going either," the usually quiet Xiong Da nodded without hesitation.

Chen Yao was stunned: "Come on, can't you guys go with me?"

As the PE representative, his absence would be immediately noticed.

"You're just going to play basketball anyway, so what difference does it make if we come?" Lin Nan moved closer to him, patting his shoulder with a grin, then suddenly became solemn: "Comrade! Make this sacrifice for the dorm!"

"Then why don't you sacrifice with me?" Chen Yao pouted, not looking up from his computer. "You have to return that laptop anyway, so you can't play all afternoon."

"If you go, can't I just play on your computer?"

"No way, you need to exercise. This is for your own good."

Tu Junhui also tried to persuade him, but Chen Yao maintained an incorruptible stance, completely unmoved.

Lin Nan started to get a bit desperate and began promising benefits: "I'll help take attendance for your evening class? You can stay in the dorm and play computer, how's that?

"Or I'll treat you to a meal?

"We're such good friends~

"How about I take attendance for you next time you don't want to go to class?"

As he spoke, Lin Nan suddenly noticed the dorm had gone quiet. He realized his tone had become increasingly coquettish, almost like he was acting cute.

Looking at himself, he became aware that he had unconsciously leaned forward, his forearm resting on Chen Yao's shoulder, his nose just centimeters from Chen Yao's hair. This close, he could catch that faint fragrance he'd noticed before at the internet cafe.

His face darkened and he quickly straightened up, saying awkwardly: "If it really won't work, then forget it..."

Looking back at his three dormmates, he found them all staring at him with strange expressions.

Damn it, how embarrassing! All Lilith's fault!

He quickly covered his face and fled to the balcony.
