Normally, pets weren't allowed in the dorms.
But they could hide it during room checks, and if there was a sanitation inspection led by school officials, they could temporarily take the cat out of the dorm.
Overall, it seemed manageable.
Lin Nan crouched on the ground with a bright smile, playing with the little black kitten. Though its tail was broken for some unknown reason, it seemed energetic, stumbling as it pounced at Lin Nan's fingers, but being so young, it would miss and tumble around on the ground.
The kitten's adorable behavior melted Lin Nan's heart.
"Tu Tu, why don't you name it!" He picked up the kitten and bounced over to Tu Junhui's side to ask.
"I think 'Little Black' is fine," Tu Junhui, who didn't like cats, answered casually.
"You're not even trying..." Lin Nan pouted dissatisfied, but quickly returned his expression to normal.
Xiong Da, hearing this, suggested: "Let's call it Cola, since it's black anyway."
Lin Nan wasn't particularly good at naming things either, and felt this name was acceptable and pleasant to say, so he happily accepted the suggestion: "Alright then!"
He crouched down again and seriously addressed the kitten that was circling around his feet, curiously sniffing his shoes: "From now on, your name is Cola!"
The kitten didn't respond, but Lin Nan didn't mind, taking the silence as agreement from the black kitten.
He found a shoebox in the wardrobe, took out the sneakers and put them in a corner, but then encountered another problem: "Do you guys have any clothes you don't wear?"
Seeing them both shake their heads, he could only turn to his own clothes.
Lin Nan actually had very few clothes - three sets that he rotated through in summer, two sweaters plus one thin and one thick coat for winter. Counting them up, he really had no spare clothes to keep the kitten warm.
Just then, the door opened again, and Lin Yuan walked in with a somewhat worn turtleneck sweater: "I happen to not wear this anymore, you can use it as bedding for the cat."
"How do you think of everything?" Lin Nan was puzzled by this timely help.
He looked up at the air conditioner's display, "Your AC temperature is too low, I think such a small cat needs to stay warm."
Lin Yuan completely broke Lin Nan's previous impression of him. At first, he thought Lin Yuan was an unfriendly troublemaker and had avoided contact. During class this morning, he seemed like Xiong Da - outwardly cold but actually flirtatious. Now looking again, he was actually quite caring and attentive to details.
"Then can you watch the cat while I go to the supermarket to buy milk powder?"
"Don't worry."
Lin Yuan nodded expressionlessly. Somehow, even though they'd only known each other for a day, his assurance was much more convincing than Tu Junhui's, whom he'd known for a year.
He couldn't help glaring at Tu Junhui's back. It wasn't that Tu Junhui was unreliable, he just talked nonsense too often to be trustworthy.
Speaking of which, with Lin Yuan's personality and his status as the class heartthrob, he must have quite a few girls pursuing him, right?
Though Lin Nan thought this, he had never seen Lin Yuan interact with any girls, not even in conversation. Whenever he had noticed him before, Lin Yuan was always doing his own thing, to the point where Lin Nan had wondered if he had depression or some other mental illness.
Taking his phone and walking out of the dorm, Lin Nan suddenly regretted it.
He'd forgotten there was a stalker watching him at school.
Sure enough, when he walked out through the dorm building's huge glass doors, the familiar heart-pounding sensation and piercing gaze fell upon him simultaneously. Following that gaze, he saw Lina sitting on a flower bed outside the dorm, tilting her head as she watched him.
"This girl..." Lin Nan had some choice words he wasn't sure he should say out loud. He ignored her and turned to walk towards the campus supermarket.
Soon, he heard Lina's footsteps behind him.
"Lilith? Why are you ignoring me?"
"I'm really not Lilith, and besides, Lilith doesn't like you either," Lin Nan said expressionlessly. "My name is Lin Nan, don't call me Lilith."
Lina moved a step closer, and Lin Nan quickly sped up to maintain the distance, afraid of being taken hostage again.
If she wasn't so pretty, he would have called the police already...
He glanced at Lina. Though a boy and girl walking together would normally make people think of a couple, walking with Lina, he suspected passersby would mistake them for girlfriends.
During lunch, Lin Nan had carefully examined the memories related to Lina, finding that most were from their childhood. They had been neighboring friends, and perhaps due to childhood innocence about love, Lilith, still a child then, had made something like a love declaration to Lina.
Then their paths diverged. Lilith had long forgotten about it, but Lina seemed to remember it clearly. As a Holy Maiden, she had always followed Lilith's footsteps, trying to bring her back to the right path after she became a witch. However, by then, Lilith was already in dire straits and had forgotten about her completely.
Later, they had crossed paths several times on the battlefield, but there were no more memories after that.
All things considered, Lina didn't actually hold much importance in Lilith's heart, but for some reason, Lina had held onto those childhood memories until now.
Perhaps Lilith was like a heartless version of Sasuke?
Also, if his memories weren't wrong, this girl hadn't killed anyone yet.
This relieved Lin Nan considerably, and he started treating her as just an extremely obsessive fangirl. He had thought everyone pursuing him from the other world would be murderous psychopaths, which was why one hostage incident had scared him half to death.
"Where are you going?" Lina followed closely behind with her short legs.
"Supermarket."
They were similar in height, but Lin Nan proudly noted that his legs were a bit longer than this Holy Maiden's.
And probably slimmer too...
Lin Nan quickly interrupted that proud thought, wondering how the idea of comparing legs with a girl had snuck into his brain.
The school's supermarket was located in the center of the dormitory buildings, a fairly large two-story establishment.
However, Building A where Lin Nan lived was on the edge of the building cluster, so it took about ten minutes to walk to the supermarket. Surprisingly, during these ten minutes, Lina hadn't been chattering like she had this morning, nor had she clung to him like an ornament.
Since it was class time, there weren't many people around the supermarket, and the cashier was idly playing with their phone.
Lin Nan usually only came here at the start of each semester to buy living supplies. For daily needs, the dorm had a water boiler, and there were vending machines downstairs for drinks.
"Nan Nan." Lina suddenly quickened her pace to walk beside him, but didn't say anything more, just looking at him with a strange expression.
Lin Nan was completely confused and awkwardly at a loss: "What's wrong? By the way, don't you have afternoon classes?"
"Is this considered a date?!" she asked, looking straight at him.
"???"
