Chapter 105: Trico
Trico looked at the visitors from beyond the stars who had come before him, laughing wildly.
“Hahahaha! You found this place, but what does it matter? It’s already too late!”
“The will of the gods is about to descend, and our preparations are complete. Revival City! Everyone! You will all become the cornerstone of the god’s revival!”
“The revival of Fury Owl Planet has no need for the False Emperor, nor for outsiders. Fury Owl Planet shall be revived under the will of the god!”
As he made this fanatical declaration, there was no doubt that these words angered the Star Warriors and Battle Nuns.
Especially the word ‘False Emperor’—it was the ultimate blasphemy.
“Silence! Traitor!”
“You shall pay for your blasphemy!”
“You and your wicked god will atone for your sins with death!”
The enraged warriors and nuns intensified their attacks on the wind wall that blocked their way.
After realizing that their explosive rifles were not effective, some took out even more powerful weapons.
Gretel, Martins, and Chaplain Rizo charged directly forward.
The sacred golden halberd in Gretel’s hands, as a powerful anti-magic weapon, didn’t perform as well as expected this time. When she struck the wind wall, the golden blade emitted a brilliant flash, symbolizing the psionic clash.
The wind wall would be sliced open with a ‘wound,’ but the rapidly flowing wind would immediately repair the gap.
Martins’ finely crafted chainsaw sword might have been more powerful than the sacred golden halberd, yet against this psionically constructed defense, it was less effective. The roaring chainsaw sword would bounce back upon contact. If not for Martins’ exceptional skill and remarkable swordsmanship, the backlash could have injured even him.
Instead, Chaplain Rizo proved to be more reliable than his battalion leader. His priestly staff, wielded like a warhammer, struck the wind wall with force. Once activated, the gravity generator at the head of the staff made each strike even fiercer than a real warhammer.
Every swing of Rizo’s staff caused the wind wall to tremble extensively.
The combined full-force assault from these three experts weakened the wind wall’s defense. Alongside them, others continued their relentless attacks, shaking the entire wind wall.
Seeing this, the Original High Priest suppressed his smile.
He took a small artifact from his waist and turned it toward the burly man in a gray robe standing before him.
“Fierce Wind, it’s time for your offering.”
The Fierce Wind Emissary bowed his head humbly, saying reverently, “It is my honor.”
Trico nodded in satisfaction, then activated the artifact in his hand.
A golden bolt of lightning shot out from the artifact’s tip, striking the Fierce Wind Emissary.
The Emissary let out a pained scream as the golden current coursed through his body, forming a web of golden lightning patterns that engulfed him completely.
The electric web grew denser and more intense until his whole form, convulsing, transformed into a pure golden humanoid lightning bolt.
He ceased his trembling, slowly stood up, and turned his head.
His human appearance was gone, replaced by a pure but unstable form of energy.
In the next instant, he truly became a streak of lightning, merging into the wind wall.
Among those attacking the wind wall, Chaplain Rizo and Sister Superior Gretel posed the greatest threat.
The Fierce Wind Emissary’s target became Gretel. Rizo’s power armor on the other hand clearly had stronger defenses, making him more formidable.
As Gretel struck the wind wall with another slash, the lightning-wreathed figure appeared at her side in an instant, extending a golden lightning spear from the wind wall at the moment she was mid-attack.
It was like a lance aimed at Gretel.
Sister Superior reacted with incredible speed. She couldn’t dodge, but she managed to retract her halberd just before striking the wall, countering the lightning spear with a sweeping cut, slicing it to pieces.
The arc exploded, and the intense energy blast forced Gretel back.
Seeing that Sister Superior didn’t immediately rush forward again, it was clear that she wasn’t in the best condition.
The Fierce Wind Emissary, however, seemed unaffected and continued to move within the wind wall like a serpent.
From afar, the riflemen’s shots posed no threat; but for the three warriors at close range, every attack would invite the Emissary’s interference.
That golden lightning was powerful; mishandling it would mean serious injury.
Conversely, they had no effective way of threatening the Fierce Wind Emissary.
Direct attacks worked, but only if they could land a hit. The man moved freely within the wind wall, retreating whenever he missed a strike.
Without tearing through the wind wall, they couldn’t reach the Emissary.
A group of Star Warriors and Battle Nuns were thus held back by a mere wind wall, with no immediate solution in sight.
Meanwhile, Gu Hang hadn’t taken action at all during this ordeal.
It wasn’t because he held any ill will.
In truth, Trico’s earlier speech had infuriated Gu Hang as well.
He didn’t mind the insult to the ‘False Emperor,’ but hearing of a plan to sacrifice the hundreds of thousands of people in Revival City truly riled him.
He had endured so much humiliation to preserve what little population he could as seeds for future development, amassing power by farming in the outer regions—and now, this lunatic wanted to sacrifice them all in one fell swoop?
And on top of that, claiming it was all for the revival of Fury Owl Planet? If everyone was sacrificed to this so-called Fury Owl God, what would even be left to revive?
Was this lunatic god the key to the planet’s revival?
The Empire might not be great, but did these cultists believe they were any better?
Despite his fury, Gu Hang managed to stay calm.
He hadn’t joined the fray because it served no purpose.
The holy halberd of the Sister Superior and the gravity staff of the Chaplain—each weapon’s power surpassed anything Gu Hang could muster with psionics. Even if he joined, it would be like adding another rifle to the team; his help would be minimal.
As a psionic, it was better for Gu Hang to focus on thinking and finding a solution.
This was different from the sealed door they had encountered earlier. Back then, their sheer power could overwhelm it, regardless of the intricate design.
This time, they would need a more strategic approach.
Although he hadn’t yet figured out how to break the wind wall, Gu Hang’s observations during this time had led to some valuable insights.
These insights filled him with both dread and hope.
