Chapter 28

Chapter 28: Extraordinary Charisma

Succubi hailed from the Abyssal Demon Domain and possessed an extraordinary domain of charm.

They specialized in mind-controlling magic and were synonymous with pleasure and decadence.

Of course, beyond the notoriously infamous succubi, other magical beings with extraordinary charm included oak dryads, gorgons, forest fairies, ageless witches, vampire counts, and deep-sea mermaids—all of whom carried the attribute of extraordinary charisma.

From birth, such magical beings had a baseline Charisma value of 10.

Upon reaching maturity, their Charisma could rise up to a maximum of 20.

Once a creature’s Charisma value surpassed 20, their extraordinary charisma evolved into a domain.

Any sentient creature approaching this domain would be involuntarily influenced by its enchantment.

The longer the exposure, the stronger the “love” harbored in the bewitched one’s heart would grow—until, eventually, they would become a submissive puppet, manipulated endlessly by overwhelming “love.”

“Once Charisma exceeds 10, mastering enchantment-type witchcraft becomes significantly easier... At the same time, the attention I attract will undoubtedly increase…”

Outside of a few extraordinary professions, it was exceedingly rare for humans to possess the innate gift of extraordinary charisma.

As a pure-blooded human, Janna, already blessed with striking looks, now bore the added enhancement of extraordinary charisma.

The combined effect would surely draw even more attention than before.

The advantages and disadvantages of this would be for Janna to weigh with care.

Either she would leverage her strengths to the fullest and seize resources beyond others’ reach, or she would overplay her hand and fall into the abyss—a backlash she could not afford.

“I need to break through as soon as possible.”

Out of habit, she allocated the 300 quest experience points from the task reward into the [Soul Projection] talent.

Seeing the progress bar show 83%, Janna grew increasingly eager for the next talent upgrade.

Her gaze then dropped to the [Class Level], which now displayed Level 9. Her expression grew more serious.

“Lately, due to long hours of meditation, my wizard level has gone up by one… And now my Spirit Power has reached 17.4. I’m not far from breaking through to a second tier Wizard Apprentice…”

Reaching Class Level 10 and breaking 20 in Spirit Power were the basic thresholds for becoming a Second Tier Wizard Apprentice.

Once Janna truly broke through, the cost of continuing her courses and investing in wizard resources would soar.

At that point, relying solely on completing quests and her monthly academy subsidy would be like trying to quench a thirst with a drop of water—it wouldn't support her rapid advancement.

At that stage, only two paths would be available to her.

One was to sign a long-term loyalty contract with a well-paying wizard family, like Professor Mary Margaret had done.

The other was to blaze her own trail by leveraging her unique advantages to carve out a personal resource-gathering path.

The second route might be harder, but compared to sacrificing her personal freedom and becoming embroiled in endless family conflicts—living a life where even her safety couldn’t be guaranteed—Janna would rather endure some hardship.

“People see the glamour of Soro Flare and Vivian Rose, but only they know the price paid behind that glamour…”

Shaking her head to clear the clutter in her mind, Janna—who had just successfully completed the butterfly wing transformation—slowly descended from the dormitory rooftop.

On her way down, she happened to meet the wide-eyed and amazed gaze of the Thornflower Sprite.

“Laura, your contribution to the success of this transformation spell wasn’t small. Once I make some money, I’ll definitely buy some elemental essences for you and Aph as compensation.”

“Hiss—”

Though the Thornflower Sprite remained motionless and didn’t understand Janna’s words, she could sense Janna’s happy mood.

Receiving such positive feedback from Janna, the loyal sprite couldn't help but feel happy as well.

“Go back and rest.”

With the withdrawal of the contract power, the Thornflower Sprite vanished into the Contract Array, and with her, the pair of butterfly wings behind Janna also disappeared.

“This wizard robe is ruined.”

Looking at the torn fabric on her back where the wings had been, Janna couldn’t help but feel a twinge of regret.

After all, not only the robe but also the shirt underneath had been damaged.

Even though the academy had provided these clothes for free, Janna—long used to being frugal—still felt it was a waste.

“When Professor Lilith Mage transformed into a rook, not only did her body change, but even her clothes transformed with her. And when she returned to human form, her clothes were perfectly intact.”

Recalling Lilith Mage’s transformation demonstration in the Transfiguration class, Janna felt a bit tempted. But this level of transfiguration was still out of her reach.

At present, she had only mastered the most basic form of localized transformation.

Only by delving deeper into the field of Mysticism could she hope to reach even the most basic level of Professor Lilith Mage’s expertise.

“There’s a wizard tailor shop in Turin City that sells robes specifically designed to handle this issue... but they’re a bit expensive.”

The “clothing explosion” problem was common among students with bloodline talents.

Those with [Werewolf], [Vampire Bat], or [Serpentfolk] bloodlines often damaged their clothes during ancestral transformations in Wizard Combat classes.

Compared to [Werewolf] apprentices ending up completely naked after transforming, Janna’s situation—just a torn back—was already quite minor.

To avoid “social death,” those bloodline apprentices had long since bought “transformation-specialized wizard robes.”

These robes were made of special materials with natural shape-shifting properties, allowing them to transform along with the wearer’s changing form.

Before mastering Transfiguration, Janna had only been curious about these robes and had never considered buying one. But now, unexpectedly, such a robe had become a necessary item for her.

Only, the price of these wizard robes...

“Return to me—”

With a light flick of her right hand, under Janna’s spellcasting, the opera script filled with pages of notes flew into her hands.

“Sometimes the Cleaning Spell can work like a Summoning Spell. It’s convenient, though far more limited than an actual Summoning Spell.”

Unlike the apprentice-level [Cleaning Spell], the so-called lazy witchcraft [Summoning Spell] was a more advanced spell in the domain of Mysticism, known for its difficulty.

This spell was part of the second-year apprentice course, 《Intermediate Spells》, and was said to summon any item the caster desired through the power of their will.

Of course, a prerequisite of the Summoning Spell was that the object summoned must be deemed “belonging to the caster” under Mysticism rules. Otherwise, the spell would fail.

“My top priority now is preparing for the interview. Only if I pass the interview will I have the chance to buy a new wizard robe…”
