Felyn clearly saw the corner of Adelina’s mouth twitch, and her face flushed red at a visible speed.
“I-I-I-I-I like Felyn?”
Adelina couldn’t hold it in anymore.
She turned to look at Viloti, arms crossed tightly, hurriedly denying it.
“Who likes Felyn? It’s just, just…”
Just that I’ve been keeping him, and making him whisper in my ear every day that he regrets choosing Viloti—nothing more than that.
But no matter what, Adelina couldn’t bring herself to say that aloud.
“Then why did you let him feed you cake.”
?!
Adelina staggered a little and leaned against the glass door.
“You saw that?”
“I saw everything through the surveillance sigil.”
She even spied on them—who would’ve thought Viloti was this kind of person.
“But you, Miss Viloti. When you saw me with Felyn in the dungeon, you got angry and threw a seventh-tier sigil. You think I don’t know that’s the real reason you attacked us?”
Adelina steadied herself and began counterattacking.
“Miss Viloti, don’t you have any strange feelings for Felyn?”
Viloti rested her chin on her hand.
“You mean I like Felyn?”
She actually understood what Adelina was hinting at for once.
“Of course. Seeing someone you like with someone else hurts. Wanting to know what they’re doing at all times—isn’t that what liking someone means?”
“That’s also a way of showing affection?”
“Yeah!”
Viloti suddenly had a revelation.
“I like Felyn.”
She said it to Felyn without a hint of expression.
Such a blunt statement left Adelina dumbfounded.
“Hey! Hold on a sec!”
Felyn felt that if he didn’t step in now, Viloti really would become a problem.
“Miss Viloti just feels guilty toward me! It’s not liking at all!”
This young lady who knew absolutely nothing about romance might genuinely mistake her feelings for love and then cling to him.
“Felyn’s right, I just feel a bit guilty.”
Viloti nodded in agreement.
She still didn’t quite understand these emotions, but whatever Felyn said, she would take it as truth.
“Huh? You changed your mind so easily.”
Adelina put her hands on her hips and stared into Viloti’s eyes.
It felt like she was punching cotton.
“Anyway, there’s nothing like that between me and Felyn…”
Adelina’s voice grew smaller, “If we’re talking about who likes who, clearly he’s the one who likes me.”
She said it so softly that no one heard.
“Then you two are…” Viloti pressed on.
“Just classmates!” Adelina had no choice but to respond.
Felyn didn’t even need to say a word—under Viloti’s questioning, Adelina explained her relationship with him all on her own.
That was a huge help.
If Felyn had been the one to say they were just classmates in front of Viloti, who knows what this noble lady might’ve thought.
Just as Viloti was about to ask more, her communication sigil rang.
[Viloti, where did you go? Hurry and greet the guests.]
It was her father urging her.
“Sorry, I’ll be leaving now.”
Viloti put away the sigil and nodded at the two of them.
Her gaze lingered on Felyn for a long moment before she turned and headed out the door.
“Wait.”
Viloti turned back, surprised to see Adelina’s face tinged with pink and her eyes void of any hostility.
“I’m glad to see you’ve picked yourself up again, Miss Viloti.”
The starlight softened around Adelina, making her look so approachable it tugged at the heart.
“Thank you.”
Adelina is a good person.
Viloti could allow a little brief contact between her and Felyn—just enough so she wouldn’t be lonely.
After all, having a crush is tough.
Poor noble lady.
If Adelina knew what was going through Viloti’s little head right now, she’d probably faint on the spot.
Once Viloti left, Adelina turned around, cheeks slightly red.
“What’s with that look? If Viloti really doesn’t come out of her room, who am I supposed to take revenge on?”
Felyn saw the expression on her face and couldn’t help but smile.
“So, what were you and Viloti talking about just now?”
With that question, the brief moment of warmth in the air vanished completely.
“Nothing really. I just told her honestly that I don’t like her anymore, because my heart can’t hold anyone else.”
Felyn wasn’t lying—he was simply stating the truth.
Seeing the sincerity in Felyn’s eyes, Adelina became even more certain of his feelings.
She never expected him to reject someone like Viloti, who practically threw herself at him.
He really does love me!
“Let’s go, we’ve been here long enough.”
Adelina turned to leave, but felt Felyn’s hand gently stop her by the shoulder, making her let out a small yelp.
“Adelina, your back straps are out of place.”
Adelina pressed her lips together, feeling the gentle touch of his fingers at her back.
They stood close—like a husband carefully looking after his wife.
Felyn saw the nape of Adelina’s neck flush with a soft pink once again.
He had only meant to use the moment to check if she was still sulking.
But clearly, she wasn’t upset at all.
This crisis had passed in a totally bizarre way, right?
Even though it felt like he didn’t do anything. It was great.
“Just one request.”
Adelina, still facing away from him, suddenly spoke.
“What?”
Her ears were red all the way to the tips, and even her shoulders trembled slightly, but she still tried her best to sound calm.
“I’ll grant you one request. You can ask for anything, but nothing too outrageous!”
She nervously clenched her skirt, her knuckles turning white.
Adelina kept telling herself it was just a normal employee reward. There is nothing unusual.
“Really?”
Felyn held her shoulders gently and leaned in a little closer to her ear.
That movement made the girl in his arms let out a small gasp.
Adelina’s world was filled with the sound of her racing heart.
Just as she was about to break free from Felyn’s hands and reject such a flirtatious gesture, she heard his voice in her ear.
“I hope Lady Adelina can let go of her obsession with winning or losing. Just like what I wrote on that poster I gave you that day—in my heart, you’re already number one in the world. You’ve already done great.”
Adelina stood frozen in place, her arms falling powerlessly to her sides.
If one listened carefully, they could almost hear the sound of a flower blooming in her heart.
That kind of request was just too unfair.
…
The crystal chandelier above refracted dreamlike light, and the massive floor-to-ceiling windows revealed the nighttime view of all Seiwa.
Silvermoon Valley, top-floor suite.
“Miss Daiyi, how has your father been lately?”
The one speaking was Lord Silafiel, who had just given a speech on stage.
“Father is well. He’s been busy lately with matters concerning the Church of Truth.”
Daiyi sat on a soft chair by the window, the moonlight and crystal lamp casting a woven glow over her.
She wore a black high-collared dress, which made her seem even more cool and otherworldly.
Silafiel liked looking into people’s eyes to read their emotions.
But this time, he found himself unable to meet hers.
Those dark green eyes carried a divine weight, gazing down at all beings—so rational, so calm.
Over a hundred years ago, the Church of Truth invented the sigil arts.
With them, the Church rose in only fifty years to become one of the three great world religions.
Every sigil in existence, whether for attack or utility, originated from the Church of Truth.
Over centuries, no one could even estimate the wealth and resources the Church had amassed.
Daiyi Aurelian.
She was the daughter of a Church elder.
But supposedly, she was an “exiled” daughter.
Still, Silafiel believed that regardless of exile or not, she was still part of the Church of Truth, and that connection must be maintained.
Daiyi gently set her teacup on the table, her dark green eyes calm as water.
A faint smile rose at the corner of her lips.
Felyn, I came back early.
