Chapter 16: You No Yes
He really was handsome.
Lu Zheng couldn't deny that.
But as a hero, Lu Zheng still refuted Yi Ning.
“You won’t get away with this.”
He said it with absolute certainty.
Unfortunately, his credibility was somewhat diminished by how tightly he was tied up in the prison.
“Are you sure?”
Yi Ning covered her mouth and giggled.
She raised both hands, mimicking Lu Zheng’s bound posture in prison: “With the way you look right now?”
“Boom——”
Thunder struck again.
Yi Ning lowered her hands and looked toward where the lightning had vanished, feeling a bit regretful.
“I shouldn’t have set the switch to activate whenever I raise my hands.”
This thunder in such a situation felt kind of awkward.
“Whatever.”
Yi Ning tossed the matter from her mind.
Now, it was time to deal with Pixel Mask.
She walked up to the machine’s console: “Now, Pixel Mask, you will have the honor of becoming the first human to be shot by this machine!”
“Kneel before this machine and, like those tables and chairs, become my servant!”
She grinned viciously and aimed the machine at Lu Zheng, froze for a second, then let go of the machine’s control stick and raised both hands into the air.
“Boom——”
Sensing Yi Ning’s posture, the lightning trap activated again.
“This thing really is annoying. I should’ve learned from you and gone with brainwave control.”
Yi Ning helplessly gestured to the thunder device behind her.
“All right.” She placed her hands back on the controls. “Get ready to join the evil side!”
Even though trapped in prison and being aimed at by Yi Ning with the Super Invincible Hypnotizer, Lu Zheng remained unyielding.
He snorted coldly at Yi Ning: “As a hero of the Hero Association, my spirit is rock solid. You won’t succeed!”
He struggled to lift his head and gave Yi Ning a scornful look. A scornful emoticon also appeared on the pixel screen, only for his head to be forcibly pushed down by Yi Ning’s sycophant chair.
“You can try.”
Looking at the valiant and righteous Lu Zheng, Yi Ning snorted disdainfully.
Did he really think his willpower was stronger than mindless rocks and chairs?
The front of the Super Invincible Hypnotizer gradually gathered white light.
“Wait a second!” Lu Zheng, who had just been so steely, suddenly shouted.
The light at the front of the machine gradually faded.
Yi Ning poked her head out from behind the machine: “Any last words? Make it quick, I’m absolutely not the type to work overtime.”
“Can you tell me how you discovered me earlier?”
“Earlier what?”
Yi Ning didn’t follow.
“I mean, last Friday night. How did you realize I was following you?”
“Oh, that.” Yi Ning thought for a moment, then spread her hands at Lu Zheng. “I don’t know either.”
“What?”
Lu Zheng didn’t expect that answer.
Seeing the surprised face on Lu Zheng’s pixel screen, Yi Ning explained: “I really don’t know. I was just on my way home and happened to feel a perverted gaze that made it seem like you were trying to peel me inside out.”
Was his gaze really that blatant?
Lu Zheng felt a bit helpless, but thanks to Yi Ning’s explanation, he understood how he was discovered.
His ability was, overall, a type of wish-granting power.
He would choose a task to complete, and his ability would randomly provide him with a power that helped him accomplish it.
Until that task was completed, he couldn’t switch to another power or choose another task.
And once the task was done, the supporting ability would immediately vanish.
Back when he was tailing Yi Ning, Lu Zheng had set his task as figuring out what Dr. Alien was up to.
So when Yi Ning decided to head home, the ability disappeared on its own—because Lu Zheng had already learned her purpose for going out.
His pixel screen displayed a resigned face.
Seriously, things like this could happen?
Although Yi Ning didn’t know Lu Zheng’s inner thoughts, the emoji on his pixel screen told her he had already figured out how he was discovered.
The front of the Super Invincible Hypnotizer began to gather light again.
“Now that your final request has been granted, obediently get on your way!”
Yi Ning activated the machine again.
But to her surprise, Lu Zheng flipped his hand, revealing a die.
Yi Ning: “?”
When had he hidden that die?
Lu Zheng tossed it into the air.
Crap.
Yi Ning leapt down from the machine and turned to run.
Sure enough.
After throwing the die, Lu Zheng seemed like a different person. He effortlessly broke free from the chair’s restraints, ducked beneath the hypnosis beam, and kicked the prison cell apart.
“You’re next, Dr. Alien.”
Lu Zheng pointed at Yi Ning’s head.
But Yi Ning remained unbothered. She stood far from Lu Zheng, wearing a scornful expression.
“Have you forgotten that the ground beneath your feet is also my servant?”
She raised both hands: “Awaken, my army!”
The once-flat ground began to rise, and countless stone people stood up.
“Boom——”
The thunder behind her struck right on cue.
Lu Zheng had to admit, Dr. Alien knew how to make a dramatic entrance.
“Full assault!”
The stone men grabbed stone weapons that had risen from the ground and charged at Lu Zheng to the sound of stone war drums.
Unfortunately, they were still no match for Lu Zheng.
Even though these stone men displayed strength and speed far beyond that of ordinary people, they were like a bunch of weaklings before Lu Zheng, easily smashed to pieces.
Lu Zheng wagged his finger at Yi Ning, his pixel screen showing a taunting face.
“Tch!”
Yi Ning gave Lu Zheng a thumbs-down and stepped back twice.
“You think being good at fighting means anything? Being tough is useless! In this line of work, influence is everything. The entire surface of the Evil Laboratory Base is my people—what do you have to compete with me?”
As her words fell, the shattered stones scattered across the ground melted back into it.
Yi Ning raised both hands again. With thunder accompanying her, her indestructible stone army revived once more and, to the beat of war drums, charged at Lu Zheng.
Lu Zheng sighed and could only repeat his earlier moves—dodging the stone weapons with ease, smashing one stone soldier with a punch, then swinging a kick to shatter the ones charging from behind.
But unexpectedly, he was hit by a powerful counterforce from the other side, which sent him flying.
Then, groups of stone men swarmed Lu Zheng, pinning him down tight.
Lu Zheng looked toward the direction he had just kicked.
Standing there wasn’t a stone man—it was the Evil Laboratory Base’s main gate!
The hypnosis beam he had just dodged had struck the gate, and now the gate had come to kick him.
“How does it feel? How does it feel?”
Yi Ning walked toward Lu Zheng while taunting him.
But before she took more than a few steps, all the stone men on top of Lu Zheng exploded, and flying debris narrowly grazed her face.
Yi Ning quickly jogged back a few steps.
As the smoke cleared, Lu Zheng stood tall again, wagging his finger at Yi Ning.
You’re not good enough.
