Volume 2. Game Update in Progress
“Brother Liu, she entered the teahouse.”
The moment I heard that, I instantly perked up.
I lowered my head and leaned in close to his phone, even placing my hand on the back of his chair.
I figured if this guy suddenly saw me at this moment, he’d probably piss his pants out of fear.
As I lowered my head, the voice from the other end of the call came through.
“Why did she suddenly go into the teahouse? Doesn’t she usually avoid places like that?”
The voice on the other end sounded a bit familiar…
But I searched through my memories and confirmed that I didn’t personally know this voice.
Then I quickly flipped through Liu Yunyan’s memories, and suddenly a person popped up.
Manager Liu?
A manager from a luxury goods store?
That slick-looking store manager who carried himself with a bit of fake elegance?
Tsk tsk… So appearances really can be deceiving.
That store… was the one Zhang Yan often took Liu Yunyan to for luxury shopping.
Looks like… my guess was pretty close.
“Brother Liu, what do we do?”
This guy couldn’t sense my Evil Spirit Form and was still asking the ‘Brother Liu’ on the phone.
“Wait a bit, I’ll call that little bitch and ask her.”
As he said this, the call ended, and the young man furrowed his brows, looking troubled as he put down the phone.
Then he glanced toward the corner of the stairs and muttered under his breath, “What the hell is that little bitch up to now?”
Was that directed at me??
That was definitely directed at me, right?
You’ve got some damn nerve, huh?
Daring to badmouth a vengeful ghost right in front of her?
I swear to—
No no no, now’s not the time to waste energy on this guy.
I pulled back the hand that had nearly reached for his soul and turned to look toward the street.
Without a moment’s hesitation, based on my speculation, that ‘Brother Liu’ should be waiting for me in the alley.
I’d go check it out—if everything lined up with what I suspected, then don’t blame me… for starting the feast.
Floating in soul form was effortless, as natural as eating, drinking, or walking.
There wasn’t even a need for instruction.
I passed straight through the outer wall and flew toward the alley.
From a distance, I saw a small truck parked at the alley entrance, which was only wide enough for three or four people to walk side by side.
The truck completely blocked the opening.
Beside the truck were two men—one crouched on the ground smoking, and the other sitting on the steps nearby.
Both were wearing rough work uniforms, but their eyes gave off a strong sense of malice.
While in Evil Spirit Form, I could clearly perceive this malicious intent.
Ordinary people had malicious thoughts too, but they weren’t directed at me.
This truck… looked like it belonged to the water company?
I ignored the two men and passed through the truck into the alley, where I immediately saw…
A man wearing a trench coat with the hood up, looking refined and scholarly, glasses on his face, currently on a call, his tone sharp and harsh.
“What the hell is wrong with you? Why did she suddenly change her route today? Did you tell her something? Huh!? Are you trying to screw this up!?”
Judging from his words and recalling the earlier conversation, I quickly concluded that this guy must be on the phone with Zhang Yan.
I moved in closer—but of course, I didn’t touch him.
Otherwise, he’d be able to see me.
As expected, right after he said that, Zhang Yan’s voice came from the other end of the phone, trembling with a hint of tears.
“Brother Liu, I didn’t… I really didn’t… I didn’t say anything, I don’t know why she suddenly changed routes.”
“Damn it! Fine, even if you didn’t tell her, then tell me why the hell she changed her route all of a sudden?”
‘Brother Liu’ cursed furiously, but of course Zhang Yan had no clue why I changed direction.
She stammered, unable to give an answer.
In truth, Zhang Yan didn’t know Liu Yunyan that well.
Although the two were friends, Zhang Yan didn’t value Liu Yunyan much.
What Zhang Yan cared about… was money.
“Useless!!”
‘Brother Liu’ spat out the insult and hung up the phone.
A burly, obviously shady-looking guy walked over and handed ‘Brother Liu’ a cigarette.
After lighting it for him, he asked,
“Brother Liu, something went wrong? Maybe we should just drop this deal… Don’t wanna lose more than we gain. That little bitch’s family ain’t ordinary, and if something goes wrong…”
“No way! We can’t drop this deal. Brother Hu’s pushing hard, and my rent is almost due. If we let her go, where are we going to find such an easy fat sheep again?”
After saying that, he immediately picked up the phone, seemingly calling that young man tailing me.
“Daozi, keep an eye on her. When she comes out, if she doesn’t head this way, call me right away. Even if we have to force it today, the deal still has to go down!”
The voice on the other end sounded a bit scared, and ‘Brother Liu’ immediately cursed.
“Scared my ass! We’re all in the game—if you ain’t got the guts, then don’t show your face!”
Without waiting for a reply, he hung up the phone.
“Brother Liu, are we really going to cut that little bitch Zhang Yan in on this deal? Things are already shaky.”
“I know… Cut her in? Heh, that little bitch is dreaming. Big guy, don’t we still have some of that No. 4 mix left? In a couple days, we’ll let her have a taste. Just right—Brother Hu still needs people, we’ll send her over.”
“Brother Liu, you’re ruthless. Didn’t that little bitch want to be with you? She looks decent—sending her to Brother Hu is just ruining her.”
“Ruin what? The little bitch’s eyes light up at the sight of money. Sending her over means we can make even more. Girls like that, high schoolers especially, have plenty of admirers. Isn’t she all about the money? Then let her earn it. Once she gets hooked… heh…”
Seeing ‘Brother Liu’ say that, Big guy opened his mouth to say something, but ended up dropping the subject.
Instead, he changed the topic—to me, unexpectedly.
“I’m saying, bro… we’ve scoped out the Liu family too. They’re a big household, got some gold, but they seem to have ties with the cops. If we just move in, and it gets found out, we won’t get out of it so easily.”
“Relax… I’ve already made a backup plan. Didn’t I tell you to prepare some mixed K yesterday? Tonight, we’ll let the boys have some fun. We’ll record it all on video. I already gave Zhang Yan a heads-up too. We’ll have the fat sheep call home and say she’s staying over at Zhang Yan’s place for the night. As long as that little bitch Zhang Yan doesn’t slip up, everything’s locked in.”
As the two of them chatted, I stood nearby, listening.
Looks like… my guess was right.
And this guy wasn’t just planning to use force—he was preparing drugs to control ‘Liu Yunyan’.
Seemed like he was planning to use some knockout drug first, then hook Liu Yunyan on drugs, all while holding compromising videos and photos over her.
Threats on one side, addiction on the other—double control.
Forget someone like Liu Yunyan, just a young girl—even a woman with some street smarts probably couldn’t resist that.
Even as a grown man, just listening to their plan sent a chill through my heart.
As expected… the most evil thing isn’t ghosts.
It’s people.
They could come up with a plan like that… these bastards really deserved to die.
