Chapter 8

Chapter 8: You’ve Been Empowered, Go Sacrifice Yourself

Walking through a narrow path cluttered with junk, Bai Fu stopped in front of a three-story building with drafts seeping through from all sides.

This was the base of the debt-owing old geezer.

It wasn’t her first time here, so even though her hair color had changed, the gatekeeper recognized her at a glance.

“Not good!” he shouted in alarm, then turned and sprinted inside. “Boss, that woman is here again!”

“That woman?”

From inside the building came the harsh scraping of tables and chairs being moved.

Moments later, a tall man with a knife scar on his forehead walked out.

Bai Fu immediately used her 【Psionic Vision】 skill on him.

The skill succeeded, but due to the level gap, the data shown wasn’t complete.

【Name】: Big Bro Biao (Elite)

【Template】: Normal

【Main Class】: ? Lv6

【Sub Class】: None

【HP】: 107/110

【Stats】: ?

【Skills】: Intimidation Lv2, ?

【Talents】: ?

【Affection Level】: Hostile (?)

【Threat Level】: Yellow

Seeing this, Bai Fu felt relieved.

Just as she had expected.

In Beyond the Stars, threat levels were divided into five ranks: Green, Blue, Yellow, Red, and Black.

Yellow meant Big Bro Biao was only slightly stronger than her.

Even if she insulted his ancestors right off the bat and triggered his Blood Fury state, she would still last long enough for the players to arrive and rescue her.

“It’s you?”

Big Bro Biao furrowed his brows—he had recognized Bai Fu too.

“I already told you, I have no money. All I have is my life. You dare come here again—are you tired of living?”

Bai Fu remained calm. “Relax, I’m not here to make trouble.”

“Then what are you here for?”

The scar on Big Bro Biao’s forehead twitched.

Like hell I’d believe you!

Bai Fu pointed into the distance. “You’ve been targeted by the outsiders. They’re outside right now.”

“Outsiders?”

Startled, Big Bro Biao quickly brought four underlings up to the second floor.

Looking out, they saw that the base had been surrounded at some point by at least forty to fifty people dressed similarly, pointing and talking about their hideout.

He was stunned.

What had he done to deserve this many people ganging up on him?

Turning back around, Big Bro Biao anxiously asked Bai Fu, “We’re enemies, so why are you helping me?”

“Idiot!” Bai Fu suddenly cursed, looking utterly disappointed in him. “Yes, we’re enemies, but this is still an internal conflict. Now that the outsiders are attacking, if I don’t help and just watch you get killed by them, aren’t I just letting them take us down one by one? You think I’m as stupid as you?”

“This…”

Big Bro Biao had nothing to say.

He had to admit, Bai Fu’s scolding made sense.

If it were him, he’d never be able to repay enmity with virtue like she did.

Now that’s what you call having damn perspective!

Big Bro Biao humbly asked, “So what do we do now? There’s so many of them—it’s not going to be easy.”

Bai Fu put on a stern face. “Since I came to you, I obviously have a plan. To be honest, I’m a Psionic Prayer.”

“What?”

Big Bro Biao and the others gasped.

A Psionic Prayer—that’s someone who could bless allies with powerful buffs and curse enemies with debilitating debuffs!

“You—”

“No time to explain. I’ll tell you everything once we get out. For now, line up so I can pray for each of you.”

Left with no other choice, Big Bro Biao and the others obeyed.

They lined up in order, and faint light shone from Bai Fu’s palms, landing on their hands.

【Fanaticism】: Induces a state of fanaticism in a selected body part.

When both hands enter fanaticism, strength, speed, resistance, and regeneration all increase significantly.

With this, Big Bro Biao and his men would be able to last longer against the players’ onslaught.

But Bai Fu’s enhancements for Big Bro Biao didn’t stop there—she deliberately applied fanaticism to his digestive system too.

Fanatic hands = faster and stronger.

So what did a fanatic stomach mean?

Bai Fu was really curious.

Feeling the growing strength in his hands, Big Bro Biao was overwhelmed with emotion.

Bai Fu hadn’t lied—she really was a Psionic Prayer, and she truly held no grudge.

ε=(´ο`*))) sigh…

After this fight, if he survived, he’d have to apologize properly to Bai Fu.

He only hoped she’d be generous enough to forgive his past actions.

“Thanks!” Big Bro Biao clasped his hands respectfully. “We’ll try to draw their attention. You must escape while you can.”

Bai Fu waved dismissively and scolded with a smile, “Stop the mushy talk. The prayer only lasts a few minutes—go already. I’ve got my own way out.”

“Alright.”

Big Bro Biao nodded and led his four underlings past Bai Fu.

Just as he reached the staircase, he suddenly stopped. “Bai Fu!”

“Hm?” Bai Fu was taken aback.

The next second, Big Bro Biao raised his right hand.

A salute to you, salute!

After completing this silly gesture, he continued down the stairs.

A somewhat timid underling asked, “Boss, can we really beat those outsiders?”

“We will win!”

Big Bro Biao’s voice was firmer than ever.

He’d been empowered—what reason did he have not to win?

Standing on the second floor, Bai Fu watched as they exited the building, not forgetting to wave them off.

Go get them, big brother with a scar on your face—show those outsiders your power!

Bai Fu’s blessing was heartfelt, because from this moment on, Big Bro Biao had become her top-ranking supporter.

To show gratitude for what her top supporter had done, she started ransacking the building quite seriously.

A dozen seconds later.

“Die!”

With a thunderous roar, Big Bro Biao and the players officially clashed.

Big Bro Biao charged headfirst into the players like Lü Bu in Dynasty Warriors, mowing them down furiously.

“-7”, “-11”, “-9”

Each of his attacks took away at least a quarter of a player’s HP, while the players could barely even land a hit on him.

This scene deeply inspired the four underlings.

Damn it, they were fired up!

Stupid outsiders, don’t think you’re tough just because you’ve got numbers!

You have your camaraderie, and we evil forces have our own bonds of villainy!

“Maya!”

Anya, watching from a distance, was terrified.

People were dying—so many were about to die.

Those outsiders talked a big game, but in an actual fight, none of them could last even a single round against Big Bro Biao.

But as she kept watching, Anya noticed something strange.

What was up with those outsiders?

She saw one outsider get his skull dented in, but not only did he not scream in pain, he laughed out loud.

“Damn, as expected of an elite monster—so strong! My virgin death’s about to happen here!”

She saw another one hanging on the wall, his waist bent in half, yet he was still laughing.

Even more outrageous, the remaining outsiders didn’t seem sad at all about their dying comrades.

“Haha, noob! Now watch your daddy show off!”

“Show off your ass! If Patrick Star wasn’t tanking in front, you’d have died ages ago.”

“Just admit I’m still alive, alright?”

Anya was dumbfounded.

Hey, were these outsiders some kind of monsters?

Big Bro Biao and the others were also confused by the players’ absurd conversations.

Facing enemies like this—who wouldn’t be thrown off?

Still, the overwhelming power gap gave Big Bro Biao immense confidence.

Kill, kill, kill! Kill all these damn outsiders single-handedly!

But just as the players were sweating it out, something strange happened.

Big Bro Biao suddenly stopped, his expression turning extremely odd.

What the hell?

Anya and the underlings were stunned.

The players also halted, becoming wary.

Was this elite monster about to enter phase two and go all out?

Big Bro Biao was indeed about to go all out—but not the kind the players expected.

He clutched his stomach, legs squeezed tightly together, feeling that if he moved even slightly, he’d have explosive diarrhea.

“What the hell…”

At a time like this, he was having stomach issues—what kind of shitty luck was this?

Big Bro Biao’s heart sank halfway.

It had to be something he ate before Bai Fu came!

No choice—he had to run, or he’d definitely be beaten to death in this state.

Big Bro Biao turned and ran, shouting for his underlings to cover him.

But to his despair, the moment his underlings sensed something was wrong, they bolted.

So much for being brothers—this is how you ditch me?

“Backstabbers!”

Whatever hope Big Bro Biao had left was crushed.

He could only grit his teeth and keep running, but there was no way the players would let him go.

“Hmph, trying to escape?”

“Thunder Crescent Slash!”

A player named Black Tiger Afu was the first to rush forward, smashing Big Bro Biao’s right eye socket with a staff.

“-7”

Red critical hit!

Big Bro Biao screamed, shoved Black Tiger Afu away with his shoulder, and kept running through the pain.

Several more players chased after him.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

A flurry of surprise attacks brought Big Bro Biao’s HP down to nearly half.

【62/110】

“He’s almost dead—come on, finish him off!”

The players were hyped.

Severely injured, Big Bro Biao was in a frenzy.

He’d barely broken through the encirclement, but in this condition, he wouldn’t last much longer.

Was he really going to die here today?

He felt unprecedented despair.

It was here.

The footsteps were here!

Big Bro Biao clenched his teeth, ready for a final stand.

But instead of another player, what came with the footsteps was a familiar voice.

“Come with me.”

That was...

He looked up, and in his still-intact left eye, he saw a white silhouette.

It was Bai Fu!

But right now, he wanted to call her something else—

His angel of salvation!
