Chapter 66: Fu‑baby V Me 50 to Prove Strength
On the road to Bagaros Refuge, the army from the Gene Primordials' side was still entangled with the ambush troops deployed by the Truth Society.
When they had just been attacked by the ambush, the Gene Primordials' side had taken a heavy hit, with several of the vehicles leading the way being blown up.
But the Military Representative Bask was no ordinary figure. He did not let down the high command's expectations of him. He quickly calmed down from his fury and began directing the army and the Intelligence Bureau to counterattack.
In terms of individual soldier capabilities, there was not much difference between the Gene Primordials and the Truth Society, but when it came to battlefield coordination, the Gene Primordials, who had fought in several major wars, had the upper hand.
Thus, even though the Truth Society initially had the advantage of ambush, as time passed, both sides gradually returned to a stalemate.
“Boom boom boom——”
The sound of shell explosions and gunfire mixed together, composing a song of death on the battlefield.
Inside the command vehicle, watching their own men going blow for blow with the ambushers by the roadside, Bask, Lu Yuelin, and the Division Three Director all wore grave expressions.
This was not the situation they wanted to see.
For Lu Yuelin and the Division Three Director, the longer this dragged on, the more danger those Special Agents sent to Bagaros Refuge would be in.
For Bask, his mission here was to destroy the Truth Society's base. Before coming, he had even patted his chest and guaranteed he would handle it beautifully. With the battle turning out like this, even if he ended up victorious, he would gain no benefit from it.
He had to find a way to break the stalemate.
Bask’s gaze landed on the two Intelligence Bureau bigshots.
For the sake of his own merit, he now had no choice but to let the Intelligence Bureau people take some risks. However, since the Intelligence Bureau and the military belonged to different organizations, he couldn’t directly command Lu Yuelin and the Division Three Director. It seemed he would need to offer them some benefits.
As Bask pondered, the front line suddenly became chaotic.
“What’s going on?” His brows furrowed.
From the walkie-talkie came the surprised voice of the frontline commander: “Commander Bask, the Truth Society thugs on my assault route suddenly withdrew!”
“What?”
Bask was shocked.
His first suspicion was that this was another trap. But after thinking it through, it didn’t make sense. Giving up such a wide opening — did the Truth Society have enough manpower to set up another encirclement?
Soon after, the walkie-talkie was filled with exclamations.
“Where are they?”
“We’ve broken through the line and are advancing toward Bagaros Refuge!”
“The enemy is retreating, should we pursue?”
Everyone around turned their gaze to Bask. It was up to him to make the call now.
Bask hesitated.
It was too abnormal. He couldn’t understand the Truth Society’s moves at all. This wasn’t a rout, and it couldn’t be a trap — if it were, then it would be an incredibly stupid one.
Just as he was torn, someone nearby suddenly shouted.
“The Truth Society’s base has been breached by Fu‑baby! They’re retreating to reinforce — we can’t let them get away!”
What?
Everyone in the vehicle turned their heads in shock and saw that the one shouting was one of those odd people brought by Bai Fu.
Wasn’t Fu‑baby just Bai Fu? Although they had already learned from Xu Hong that Bai Fu had located the true site of the Bagaros Base, to now suddenly claim Bai Fu had breached the Truth Society’s base — that was just absurd.
“Where did you get this information?” Bask demanded.
“One of the people attacking the base with Fu‑baby told me,” the named Player urged quickly. “Enough with the doubts — what’s the point of that now? Hurry and send people to chase them down! This is a perfect chance to destroy the Bagaros Base. Wait any longer and they might escape!”
Bask clenched his right fist.
He didn’t want to believe it, but the Truth Society thugs’ odd behavior could indeed be explained if Bai Fu had breached the base.
“Pursue!”
He issued the order immediately.
The Gene Primordials soldiers who received the order split into two groups. Coordinating with various vehicles, they rapidly advanced.
They soon crossed the trenches dug by the Truth Society — one group broke into Bagaros Refuge and rescued the surrounded Intelligence Bureau Special Agents, while the other charged toward the coordinates previously released by Xu Hong.
It was smooth — almost too smooth.
Just ten minutes ago, these Gene Primordials soldiers who had been fighting the Truth Society tooth and nail could never have imagined the situation would turn like this. For a moment, they even felt like they weren’t here to fight a war, but to go on a vacation.
“I heard it was that Bai Fu from Division Four who breached the Truth Society's base.”
“For real?”
“What New Era Superman?”
“Good thing we brought her this time. If we had kept this stalemate going, who knows how many people would’ve died.”
The Gene Primordials soldiers felt incredibly relieved.
In contrast, the people of the Truth Society were on the brink of despair.
Pursued relentlessly by the Gene Primordials, they fled frantically toward the base. As long as they could reach it, even if they couldn’t win, at least there was a chance to escape.
But what they never expected was that when they finally reached the base gate, what they saw was a tightly shut door!
“Anyone who doesn’t surrender, kill them all!”
Bask shouted loudly.
……
At the same time the Truth Society soldiers were getting thrashed, just one door away inside the base, Bai Fu had successfully deceived Yulia by exploiting her reluctance to strike back, and started attacking her.
Even though Yulia was highly skilled, once Bai Fu locked her throat with her arm, her body collapsed uncontrollably to the ground.
“Now we’re talking!”
“Just hold on a bit longer. Once the Gene Primordials wipe out those Truth Society grunts outside, this battle will be over!”
“Go Fu‑baby, the reinforcements are almost here!”
“Master Fu, go for the midline!”
The Division Four Special Agents and the surviving Players who saw this scene were overjoyed.
Most of the Players in the livestream room were also excited. Only a few who disliked Bai Fu stomped their feet in anger, but no one paid them any mind now. Everyone was discussing how many rewards the Players involved in this mission would receive once it ended.
No one believed Yulia could turn the tables at this point.
A squishy mage getting grappled by a tank like Fu‑baby and still hoping to reverse the fight?
Even if Yulia had the power to turn the tide, there was still a group of Gene Primordials soldiers waiting outside.
【Damn, I’m so jealous. Following Bai Fu really is the best. Good thing I already bought my ticket to Lynn. I’m joining next time too】
【Seriously, even if you didn’t kill a single mob, you still get the base reward for eliminating Bagaros Base at mission end. This is awesome】
You all just keep being jealous!
The Players still present on-site chuckled.
They no longer paid attention to the boasting in the livestream comments but focused instead on Bai Fu and Yulia.
Watching women fight was great — watching cute girls fight was even better!
But soon they couldn’t laugh anymore, because Yulia’s throat may have been locked, but the source of her psionic power wasn’t.
To break free from Bai Fu’s hold, she began unleashing skills recklessly and without restraint.
Boom boom boom——
Layers of translucent white sheer silk dropped from the sky — some slammed into Bai Fu’s back, most others crashed down upon the surrounding Players.
Yulia hoped to distract Bai Fu by killing the Players, thereby giving herself a chance to escape. Unfortunately for the Players who had let down their guard, they were basking in triumph one second, and turned into corpses the next, losing a fair bit of XP for nothing.
Under the continuous bombardment of the white sheer silk, the corridor walls and ceiling also took damage, collapsing and shattering in succession.
War Reporter Excavation‑Princess would’ve been smashed in the head if she hadn’t dodged in time.
“We’re screwed!”
Looking at the mountain of cement debris in front of her, Excavation‑Princess looked depressed.
The livestream would have to be cut.
Soon after, Convert to My Fu and the others arrived but were helpless. They wanted to help Bai Fu, but their strength wasn’t enough to blast through this much debris.
All they could do was wait.
Given the strength Bai Fu had just displayed, she shouldn’t lose to Yulia.
Bai Fu herself was now in a tight spot.
To prevent Yulia from escaping, she had not only locked Yulia’s throat with her arm but also tightly clamped her waist with her thighs.
Most people wouldn’t last ten seconds in this kind of hold before rolling their eyes back, but Yulia’s abilities were simply too abnormal. With her psionic field repulsion, Bai Fu could never fully lock her down.
She had to use 【Fanaticism】 and 【Power Surge (Inferior)】 on herself to temporarily boost her Strength to 21 points.
“I don’t believe your psionic power is infinite!”
Bai Fu was gambling that Yulia would run out of psionic energy before she herself ran out of stamina.
Yulia struggled desperately, but unwilling to truly kill Bai Fu, she couldn’t unleash anything effective.
She had tried bombarding Bai Fu’s arm with white sheer silk, but Bai Fu was completely unfazed. She had tried floating up and then crashing down, but Bai Fu was still unaffected.
At this rate, her doppelgänger would eventually be squeezed dry and then killed by Bai Fu.
Too absurd.
How could such a “strong” woman exist in this world?
When she had received the order from the Truth Society President, Yulia thought her turning point had come. She hated Bai Fu so much she could eat rice with Bai Fu’s photo, yet after actually meeting her — she ended up so utterly humiliated.
If she died here, who knew how long it would be before she got another chance to get close to Bai Fu.
Kill her… kill… No, she couldn’t kill her.
Yulia continued with threats: “Bai Fu, this is just a doppelgänger. Even if you kill this one, it’s useless. I’ll be back!”
Bai Fu laughed.
Come back then. Next time, I’ll serve you my triangle choke set meal with thigh-and-neck combo.
“You’re not afraid the people you care about will suffer?”
“Afraid? It’s not just you — one day I’ll wipe out the entire Truth Society!” Bai Fu sneered.
She could feel it — the field around Yulia’s body was weakening. Was she finally able to clamp her down completely?
Yulia took a deep breath and decided to change tactics. “You hate the Truth Society that much?”
Bai Fu said, “The Truth Society wants to kill me. I can only return the favor.”
“I actually hate the Truth Society too,” Yulia suddenly said.
Who’re you fooling?
Bai Fu curled her lip.
Yulia went on: “I need you because studying you can help me break free from the Truth Society’s control. Then I’ll be able to get my revenge. The Truth Society is more powerful than you can imagine. If you really want to destroy it, you’d better cooperate with me.”
“Powerful, huh? I’m not feeling it,” Bai Fu remained unmoved.
Yulia said, “You haven’t met the Truth Society President. You don’t know how strong he is. Once you see him, you won’t think this way.”
“Cut the nonsense. No matter how strong he is, he’s dead if he runs into me. As for you, just pray I never find your true body.”
“You’re putting your hopes in the Gene Primordials? I advise you to abandon that idea. The Gene Primordials hide even deeper secrets than the Truth Society. Getting too close to them will only lead to disaster.”
Hmm?
That line caught Bai Fu’s attention — Li Cheng had said something similar when he was captured.
“To be honest, I don’t have much psionic power left. How about we make a deal?” Yulia suddenly shifted her tone. “As long as you agree to let me study you, I can give you anything I possess once it’s done — including my life.”
Before Bai Fu could reply, she added, “I know you won’t agree right now, but it doesn’t matter. Once you’ve dealt with the Truth Society and the Gene Primordials for a while, you’ll believe everything I just said.”
Bai Fu’s eyes shifted slightly.
She suddenly realized this was an opportunity. Yulia was an expert in psionics, and what she currently lacked was precisely psionic knowledge.
“Anything at all?”
“Anything.”
Bai Fu said, “I don’t believe you. Not unless you give me some psionic knowledge first.”
Rich lady, V me 50 to prove your strength!
Yulia remained silent for a long moment. “Go to Refuge No. 11 in the Geli Desert. I’ll find a way to contact you.”
“Alright. I look forward to our next meeting.”
Bai Fu tightened her grip further.
Finally, Yulia’s psionic power was depleted.
In just a few seconds, she passed out from suffocation.
She slowly released her aching limbs.
After staring at Yulia’s doppelgänger for a few moments, she picked up the gun that had fallen to the ground and fired a few shots to finish off the clone.
【You killed Yulia (Doppelgänger), Contribution: 96.3%. After level adjustment, you gained 43,817 XP】
Seeing such a generous XP reward, Bai Fu was overjoyed. It had been well worth the few minutes she spent wrestling Yulia on the floor.
“Refuge No. 11, huh?”
Bai Fu wasn’t the least bit worried that it might be a trap Yulia had set — after all, she could have the Players help her trigger the traps first.
Of course, she didn’t actually plan to cooperate with Yulia. She simply wanted to scam a bit of psionic knowledge out of her.
No big deal.
Didn’t Yulia say she wanted to study her so she could get revenge on the Truth Society? Once Bai Fu wiped them out, what would Yulia have to blame her for?
Bai Fu looked around.
The trouble was solved. It was time to figure out how to leave this base.
She walked deeper into the base and soon found another exit. It was sealed off, but through the door, she could hear voices on the other side.
“The bomb’s already planted — fall back!”
Bai Fu quickly dodged aside. With a loud boom, the door collapsed with a thunderous crash.
Through the billowing dust, she saw Bask charging in with a squad of soldiers from outside.
“Bai Fu?!”
Bask came to a halt. He had never expected to run into Bai Fu here. At first, he froze, then a smile spread across his face.
“You’re alone? Where are the others?”
Bai Fu answered truthfully, “The corridor collapsed. They’re trapped on the other side.”
Bask nodded.
Just when Bai Fu thought he was going to rescue them, he suddenly raised his pistol.
“Kill her!”
Bang!
A bullet shot out and struck Bai Fu squarely between the eyebrows.
