Chapter 64

Chapter 64: War God Fu‑fu, Rampaging Forward

Damn!

Carlos's soul nearly fled from terror.

He had clearly instructed the logistics personnel closest to the gate button in the corridor to press it, so why did the iron gate start rising again just as it was about to completely descend?

At first, he thought Bai Fu had lifted the iron gate with her superhuman strength, but on closer inspection, Bai Fu’s body had not touched the gate at all.

In an instant, he thought of the ability of the recently-killed Lieutenant Qian—could it be that this silver-haired girl had a similar ability?

Lieutenant Qian could at most manipulate a few kilograms, yet he was already the strongest in the Bagaros Base before Guido and Yulia arrived. But this silver-haired girl could control an iron gate weighing over a ton. This gap...

Carlos felt like he had plunged into an ice cave.

He had no doubt that if this silver-haired girl got serious, she could tear the entire underground base apart on her own.

He stood there dumbfounded, watching the gate open wider and wider, with not even a trace of resistance rising in his heart.

He was definitely going to die today.

As Bai Fu’s face came into view, Carlos suddenly snapped out of it—he almost forgot that he had one last trick left, a secret technique passed down in his family.

“I surrender, don’t kill me!”

Carlos dropped to his knees on the ground.

His speed was too fast—even faster than that e-to-e orphan Solo. Whether it was his teammates, Bai Fu, the Players, or the Division Four Special Agent, none of their question marks could catch up to him.

“?”

When she used the 【Custom Card·Battle Etiquette】 on the person pressing the door-close button and had him press it to reopen the gate, Bai Fu knew this would scare the person on the other side—but she never imagined the effect would be this absurd.

After all, Carlos was the Bagaros Base Commander. Killing him even came with a special mission reward.

This was truly the aura of a king bursting forth, making the enemy bow and worship on sight.

The Players witnessing this scene from the back were all dumbfounded.

【Is this Conqueror’s Haki or what?】

【Damn, it’s bad enough that the BOSS of this wilderness instance tries to run, now they even surrender?】

【Just how strong is Fu‑fu really?】

【Come see the War God!】

【Is the Truth Society really this lame? I actually wanted to join them before...】

Carlos never imagined his actions would deal such a heavy blow to the image of the Truth Society. His stark contrast with Bai Fu shook the resolve of many Players who had considered joining the Truth Society.

Bai Fu was this fierce, and the Truth Society was this pathetic—if they joined rashly, would they end up with nothing before the Truth Society itself got wiped out?

As these Players hesitated, Guido—who witnessed Carlos’s surrender—was about to explode.

Damn it, even if Bai Fu was strong, how could you just surrender like that?

As a staunch loyalist of the Truth Society, Guido raised his gun in fury.

But before he could act, Bai Fu had already fired three shots straight at Carlos’s face.

A shotgun blast at close range—pellets tore into Carlos’s head, turning it into a bloody mess.

The brain matter burst out under the impact like a spring, splattering across the nearby wall.

Bai Fu let out a breath of relief.

That was close.

Luckily she reacted fast—otherwise, someone else might have stolen the kill.

【You have slain Carlos, Commander of Bagaros Base. Contribution: 100%. After level adjustment, gained 12,500 XP】

【You killed a member of the Truth Society. Additional reward: 1,000 XP】

【You have completed Mission [Decapitation Operation]. Contribution: 100%. Reward: 50,000 XP】

After a series of notifications, Bai Fu realized she had enough XP to level up again. Without holding back, she upgraded Psionic Prayer-user to Lv7.

Now that both the commander and deputy of Bagaros Base were dead, it was time to reap the final mission rewards.

“Clear out this base as quickly as possible, then circle back to flank the Truth Society ambush outside.”

Bai Fu gave her orders.

The Players who had regained their senses were the first to rush past the re-opened iron gate and charge deeper into the base.

Xu Hong and Xia Shi quickly followed suit, not wanting to be the ones who hadn’t even fired a shot by the end of the battle. That would be far too embarrassing.

The entire Bagaros Base instantly fell into chaos.

Lieutenant Qian and Carlos had died too quickly.

Even though the remaining base members knew Guido and Yulia were powerful, it was hard for them to believe the two could hold off Bai Fu.

“Run!”

“Notify Dr. Luo!”

“Notify my ass, contacting Headquarters is what matters!”

In fact, not to mention these small fry—even Guido was extremely shaken.

He had doubted from the beginning that he could beat Bai Fu. After what had just happened, he was even more certain.

So when he saw Yulia walking out of the room, he quickly approached her.

“Old Qian and Carlos are both dead. Bai Fu seems to have some ability that can lift the iron gate. We’d best retreat for now and make long-term plans.”

Yulia’s blue eyes flickered slightly. “Are you sure she lifted the iron gate using a power, and not controlled the button-pusher with psionics?”

“Hmm?”

Guido was stunned.

By the time he came to his senses, Yulia had already grabbed the person who had tried to run past her and flung them in front of him.

“It was him pressing the button earlier. Ask him if he opened the gate.”

The logistics personnel, caught in Guido’s fierce glare, were so scared their legs went weak.

“Master Guido, I don’t know what happened. My hand suddenly moved on its own and pressed the button. By the time I realized it, it was too late. I swear I didn’t do it on purpose, Gui...”

Smack.

Guido slapped the man flying.

His expression turned extremely ugly.

Thank goodness Yulia had seen through Bai Fu’s trick—if he had actually fled in fright, the President would’ve definitely held him accountable, and he would’ve been doomed.

“Stop! All of you stop! Anyone who runs, I’ll kill them!”

Guido roared furiously.

Under his orders, the chaos in Bagaros Base finally settled to a degree.

“We’re inside the base! We have enough ammo, traps, and we know the terrain. What are we afraid of? You go kill those rampaging punks—I’ll take care of Bai Fu!”

Yulia said, “I’ll grant you blessings. Leave those Gene Primordials to me.”

Guido nodded. With Yulia saying this, he felt reassured.

He turned and dashed into the surveillance room to confirm Bai Fu’s location. What he saw startled him—on nearly every screen showing a person, the same thing was happening: the people he had just called punks were massacring his forces!

Those punks may have lacked organization and discipline, but their ferocity was rarely seen in the world.

Don’t talk to us about CQB, CQC, tactical maneuvers, or team coordination... In our Player eyes, that’s all ritualistic nonsense. Just yell “FBI open the door,” “Onboard,” “Kill,” “Truth is dead, Bai Fu shall rise”—max out the Courage stat, then kick every door, shoot every person, charge through every trap. If we can’t kill you cowardly NPCs, then we Players admit defeat!

Truly, few could withstand the Players’ mad-dog fighting style.

At first, the Players only had a pistol or two, which were manageable. But once they picked up weapons dropped by the Truth Society, their threat level skyrocketed again.

“Die! All of you die with me!”

One Player caught a flying grenade and roared as he dove toward a bunker.

With a loud boom, he and four Truth Society members flew into the air together.

The next second, the other Players didn’t mourn his death for even a moment.

They eagerly picked up the gear he dropped and continued their assault.

“Haha, I’ve had my eye on that assault rifle he picked up.”

“Says who? That’s the gun I was watching!”

“Ever heard of first come, first served?”

Guido’s forehead veins bulged.

He saw the people he had called back were beginning to lose morale again. Luckily, the President had sent Yulia this time. Otherwise, this downward spiral would have turned into a complete rout.

Guido quickly locked onto Bai Fu, who was sweeping through rooms one by one. Then, locking the surveillance room door behind him, he rushed toward her location.

Bai Fu, just you wait!

Meanwhile, on the other side, the Division Four Special Agents following behind Bai Fu had gone numb.

They wanted to help, but after witnessing Bai Fu’s and the Players’ fighting style, they realized they could do nothing.

Charge forward like the Players, risking their lives?

They didn’t have the guts.

Provide cover fire from the back?

Most of the time, by the time they raised their guns, the Players had already taken out the next target.

Assist Bai Fu?

That was even more hopeless.

She fought like a war god.

The Players at least tried to dodge—Bai Fu didn’t even bother. Her combat style was: kick open the door, draw fire, then let Anya shoot from behind.

As elite Special Agents, how did they end up becoming burdens in a combat assault?

Stunned and demoralized, Xu Hong suddenly felt... maybe he was getting old.

+1000, +1000, +1000...

Bai Fu kept harvesting lives. The XP notification almost never stopped.

This continued until the leading group of Players suddenly came to a halt.

“Stop, stop, stop, quick stop!”

“Stop what?”

The Players from behind couldn’t brake in time and crashed into the leading group, toppling over each other.

When they raised their heads, they were shocked to see an old acquaintance.

Ice-blue hair, ice-blue eyebrows, long legs, a majestic bust like mountains rising and waves surging...

Wasn’t this the boss who rampaged through the Abandoned Cooling Plant and once took control of Bai Fu?

Actually, most Players here hadn’t personally seen Yulia—except for Starfish‑bro and Convert to My Fu—but Bai Fu’s popularity was so high that related videos were everywhere in the Community, so they immediately recognized the one who had caused Bai Fu huge trouble: Yulia.

Recognizing Yulia, they instantly recalled her ability.

“Back up, back up, back up!”

Too late.

Yulia’s eyes flashed.

Immediately, the Players standing before her gained a 【Possessed】 status. Then, uncontrollably, they turned around and attacked their fellow Players.

“It’s over, it’s all over!”

As more and more Players spotted Yulia, a wave of panic began to spread.

They were well aware of how broken Yulia’s control ability over Players was.

If this kept going, the situation would soon become Bai Fu and the Division Four Special Agents fighting two hundred people together.

Although Bai Fu’s identity was special and she couldn’t be compared to ordinary people, winning against so many still seemed impossible.

Was this combat mission really going to end in failure?

Worse yet, Bai Fu might even die here.

“Forget about us in the back—cover Fu‑fu’s retreat, quickly!”

“Things are heating up, time to scram!”

Convert to My Fu was the first to run back, preparing to warn Bai Fu. But when he got close, he found that Bai Fu had already been intercepted by Guido.

Guido held a gleaming long blade, his eyes flashing red like flames were burning within.

The moment he appeared, he slashed without hesitation.

Bai Fu dodged in time, avoiding the strike, but the wall behind where she had been standing took the hit.

The sudden burst of heat charred the impact site black.

“Lucky you dodged!”

Murderous intent surged in Guido’s eyes.

Bai Fu’s expression turned cold. She sensed danger from Guido and decisively cast Psionic Vision.

The data quickly returned.

【Name】: Guido (Elite)

【Template】: Special – Fire Element Power

【Main Class】: Fire Fist Lv8 [Sub-class: Entry-level Pugilist Lv10], Special Agent Lv8

【Sub Class】: None

【HP】: 430/430

【Qi】: 165/165

【Stats】: Strength 33, Agility 24, Constitution 19, Intelligence 7, Spirit 17, Inspiration 18

【Skills】: Combustion, High-Temperature Burn Lv3…

【Talents】: Lava Body, Speed of Wind

【Affinity】: Hatred (−36)

【Threat Level】: Blue

Unlike Li Cheng, Guido didn’t have burst-type skills that temporarily boosted his strength, but his base stats—especially Spirit and Inspiration—were far higher than Li Cheng’s.

Both practiced the body-training stream, but Guido’s high Spirit and Inspiration left him without the glaring weaknesses Li Cheng had.

This was evidenced when Bai Fu’s use of Power Surge (Inferior) failed to register as a valid skill hit.

A somewhat troublesome opponent.

That was Bai Fu’s assessment of Guido.

If it were a 1v1 duel, she wouldn’t fear Guido at all. His HP was only a fraction of hers. But from what the Players had shouted earlier, she now knew Yulia was here too, which made her uneasy.

Previously, Yulia’s doppelgänger alone had managed to fight off her, Yago, and Xia Shi. If her real body was involved now, then things could get out of control.

This had to be ended quickly!

“You dare space out in front of me? Courting death!”

Guido launched forward again. His foot slid, and his right hand dragged the blade, tracing a dazzling arc mid-air.

When he was just three meters away from Bai Fu, a thunderous explosion sounded beneath his feet. Using the blast’s force, his charge speed multiplied several times over.

It all happened so fast, he was certain Bai Fu couldn’t dodge it.

Slash!

The blade skimmed past Bai Fu’s neck, but the expected spray of blood and slashed throat never appeared.

Guido’s pupils shrank sharply.

What was this? It felt like he had cut into mud.

Bai Fu tossed the used Psionic Shield card onto the ground. Guido’s strike had depleted over 170 shield points.

Shield value was not tied to Constitution, but even with her high 61 Constitution, taking a blow like that without protection would’ve cost at least 40–50 HP, along with Bleeding and Burn dual debuffs.

A skill with burn effect? Big deal—I'll smash the Mask of Pain right into your face!

With three more Psionic Shield cards in hand, Bai Fu wasn’t afraid at all.

She quickly pulled the trigger, and Anya didn’t sit idle either. Her auto-lock head and gun-mounted arms fired in tandem, bullets slicing like a reaper’s scythe.

Guido hadn’t expected his strike to do zero damage. In his moment of shock, he took a shot right to the face. Fortunately, he reacted fast and protected his head with Qi. He twisted and weaved, slashing at the bullets with his blade. Bullets chased his movements, digging deep holes into the walls behind him.

“-41”

Nowhere near enough.

Bai Fu advanced instead of retreating, charging directly into Guido’s web of blade light with her gun.

She looked even fiercer than the fearless Players.

Guido almost laughed. He had never faced such a reckless opponent.

But what good was reckless?

His ability wasn’t just simple slashing.

The lingering burn from each strike was his true weapon.

Once the burn stacked to six layers, it would explode inside the enemy.

He and Bai Fu clashed fiercely.

After a few exchanges, her wrist guard shattered, and he took two shots himself.

The pain didn’t weaken him—it only made him fight harder.

“Yulia!”

Guido shouted loudly.

This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. With Yulia’s blessing, he could lock Bai Fu down with blade light and flay her to death piece by piece.

But to his surprise, even after calling out, Yulia gave no response.

Had something happened on her end?

He had seen some of the Division Four members head off to intercept her, but their power shouldn’t be enough to truly threaten Yulia.

Guido couldn’t figure it out.

Seizing the moment, Bai Fu grabbed the incoming blade with her left hand, used Psionic Shield to tank the six-layer burn burst, then activated Battle Etiquette.

“Crap!”

Guido sensed danger, but it was too late to dodge. He froze on the spot as Anya, already positioned, rushed in.

There was nothing to fear, and no reason to hesitate.

Anya, raised in the Abandoned Cooling Plant, was used to death. She only knew that whoever threatened Bai Fu had to die.

Boom boom!

The power pump roared, and the iron fist of the power armor slammed into the back of Guido’s head. His skull was forced down, neck looking as though it had snapped.

He wasn’t dead—his Qi-guarded body was far tougher than average. But Bai Fu was waiting in front of him.

She snatched the blade and slashed.

Guido dodged in panic. He was fast—even dazed, he avoided the killing blow. But his arm couldn’t escape; it was slashed open, flesh turning inside out, a bloody mess.

“Yulia!”

Guido completely lost it.

Weren’t they supposed to be two versus one? How had it turned into one versus two?

“What’s the rush?”

Yulia’s voice and footsteps finally came.

Guido turned with gritted teeth, only to see Yulia approaching with a group of controlled Players.

He secretly let out a breath of relief—not too late.

“Stall her. I need to stop the bleeding.”

Guido rushed toward Yulia.

Yulia said nothing, just signaled to the controlled Players with her eyes.

“Damn it, seriously? Now you’re making us fight Fu‑fu?”

The Players immediately cursed out loud, but no matter how much they yelled, their bodies continued to move forward uncontrollably.

Then, passing Guido’s side, something no one expected happened—four Players suddenly turned and fired at him.

Bang bang bang!

Guido had no defense and was riddled with bullets. Even as he collapsed with a crash, he never understood what had just happened.

Bai Fu, Players: “!!!”

Yulia stepped elegantly to stand across from Bai Fu. The smile on her face began to blossom.

“The annoying one is dead. Now let’s have a proper talk, shall we?”

Bai Fu stared into Yulia’s eyes, the excitement in her gaze like she wanted to devour her alive.
