When Gu Luoyu quickly rushed to the edge of the city wall, the polluted creatures had already begun to wreak havoc, toppling sections of the wall.
The raised dust mixed with the smell of blood made the scene extremely grim.
The mercenaries who had been guarding the city walls were nearly wiped out, and no one was left to stop the onslaught.
Now, the polluted creatures were free to do as they pleased.
"There are actually such small S-level polluted creature!"
Gu Luoyu chose a spot where she wouldn’t be disturbed for the time being.
She crouched casually on the city wall, resting her cheek on one hand, her red eyes glinting as she tilted her head slightly to observe the polluted creatures in the distance.
Her gaze quickly locked onto the target.
Hidden among a group of large-sized Class A polluted creatures was a monkey, no bigger than an ordinary eight-year-old child.
This was the S-class leader that had led a group of giant lizard-like polluted creatures to attack the base.
Ever since Gu Luoyu was selected by the base officials at the age of eight to become a candidate member of the Esper Squad, she had lost count of how many times she had encountered sieges by high-level polluted creatures.

As the leading S-level monkey let out a roar, the monitor lizards immediately responded with a chorus of guttural sounds.
Under the red moonlight that draped the scene like a veil, the polluted creatures stomped the ground with their sturdy limbs, shaking their heads and tails.
They leaped over the collapsed sections of the wall, their long, crimson tongues flicking out occasionally to probe the rubble for corpses.
With a swift motion, they rolled the corpses into their mouths, the crunching sound of bones breaking echoing through the night.
The mutated monitor lizards, silhouetted against the night sky, looked like monsters straight out of a disaster movie.
However, Gu Luoyu’s attention wasn’t on them.
Instead, she stared with great interest at the S-level monkey.
She had been dealing with polluted creatures for so long and had killed quite a few S-level ones, but she had never encountered one so... small.
From the outside, it didn’t have any particularly strange features, and its specific means of attack weren’t immediately obvious.
What was certain, though, was that this creature was highly intelligent, possessing the cunning of a humanoid being.
It commanded the group of giant lizards with ease.
"Damn beast!"
Before all the polluted creatures could make it past the collapsed wall, reinforcements sent by the base officials arrived.
Gu Luoyu took a closer look and spotted several familiar faces. It was Squad 3 of the Special Esper Squad.
"Captain, we can’t let these things reach the safe zone. They need to be eliminated immediately!"
"It’s a Class A polluted creature, the Monitor Lizard. Its claws carry a high concentration of paralytic toxins, and combined with the muscle-dissolving toxins in its saliva, a double toxin attack can incapacitate a person in seconds."
"Monitor lizards aren’t very intelligent, and their usual habitat is far from the base. How did they end up here?"
After releasing her Psychic powers, Gu Luoyu could easily overhear their conversation.
Of course, her psychic energy also acted as a barrier, preventing her presence from being detected.
This allowed her to watch from such a close distance without being noticed by either the polluted creatures or the Esper Squad.
Although Gu Luoyu’s casual squatting on the city wall might have seemed out of place, as long as her Psychic powers remained active, or unless someone stronger than her was present, she wouldn’t be exposed.
She could continue to enjoy the "show."
"The order from above is to kill on sight. We can’t risk causing panic among the base’s residents."
The captain of Esper Squad 3 spoke calmly, quickly laying out a battle plan aimed at wiping out the giant lizard-like polluted creatures in one swift move.
Gu Luoyu couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow as she listened, silently observing the team’s actions.
She felt a hint of secret amusement.
These giant lizards weren’t the real problem.
The real threat was the hidden S-level monkey, which was bound to unleash a devastating attack.
Tsk.
A lot of people were going to die tonight.
Gu Luoyu felt no camaraderie with her teammates.
In fact, the more members of the Esper Squad died, the more panicked the base officials would become, and that thought brought her a twisted sense of satisfaction.

She was like a fragile little bird that needed constant care.
The slightest crisis would leave her frightened and panicked.

She felt like she was becoming strange.
Just then, not wanting Ye Sheng to be frightened, Gu Luoyu shifted from her crouching position to standing.
