Chapter 21: Wind Bullet
The Governor said there was no need to worry, so there was indeed no need to worry.
The world is vast, but the Governor is the greatest.
Outstanding training results and performance had significantly changed the mentality of the entire group of a hundred people.
Upon learning they were going to battle, they were determined to achieve a glorious victory to demonstrate their loyalty and valor to the Governor.
The battle did take place, but it did not go exactly as Popov initially imagined.
After completing the encirclement of the manor, he requested to lead the first wave from the Governor, but he was refused and could only follow behind the armored vehicles as part of the second wave.
Of course, this was easier than leading the charge, with fewer casualties, but Popov and his soldiers felt it lacked honor.
At this moment, his soldiers were still shouting in front of the Governor, making Popov feel quite embarrassed.
After reprimanding the young soldier, he turned to Gu Hang, saluted, and said: “The enemy has refused our offer to surrender. May we launch the attack?”
Captain Popov looked eager, just waiting for the Governor to nod so he could charge with his men.
He had already planned how to fight: mortar soldiers would bombard the windows on the first and second floors; squad machine guns would sweep the main gate; after that, the best-trained elite infantry squad would charge through the shattered main gate and windows on the first floor to control the lobby…
“We will attack, but you won’t be involved.”
“Huh?”
“I’ll personally lead this battle,” Gu Hang said, then called out, “Yan Fangxu! You come too, and bring two assault teams.”
“Yes, sir!”
The captain saluted, then turned to gather his men.
“Governor…”
Popov was anxious.
But Gu Hang raised his hand to stop him from speaking further: “I know you’re eager, but hold back for now.”
The Governor’s gaze shifted to the building before him.
At that moment, his eyes turned blue and white. He saw that a mass of wind had condensed inside the house.
“There is a formidable enemy inside.”
“We from the Wasteland are not afraid!”
Popov puffed out his chest, “You gave us new life, Governor. We are willing to prove our loyalty with our lives!”
“That’s good.”
Gu Hang said with a smile, “But loyal soldiers should not sacrifice needlessly. Your lives have greater value to achieve.”
Seeing that Popov still wanted to say something, Gu Hang waved his hand, “Carry out the order.”
“Yes, sir!”
With a heavy heart, the captain returned to his unit.
When the surrounding soldiers eagerly asked if they could go into battle, he relayed the Governor’s command.
The soldiers shared his sentiment, feeling quite reluctant.
They even tried to urge him to ask for permission again, but he sternly rebuffed them with a sullen face.
Gu Hang paid no mind to what the officers were doing.
While continually observing the situation inside the building with his spiritual vision, he also calculated how much spiritual energy he had left.
He had used up some earlier, but it was not serious. It should be enough for the upcoming battle.
At this moment, Yan Fangxu had already prepared the elite marines. He himself would also join the battle.
Overall, this team from the “Fifth Symphony” lived up to their elite reputation.
Their equipment was excellent, and their tactical skills were very high, making them reliable.
Of course, even so, they would not directly break through the doors and windows.
No matter how skilled they were, if they had means to assist, there was no need to act recklessly. To do otherwise would be foolish.
The Wasteland unit could still play a role in this battle.
The company’s mortars, along with the machine battalion’s mortars and squad machine guns, were all individually brought out.
Machine guns would sweep the windows and doors, providing long-term suppressive fire; mortar shells would be fired through the windows.
At a relatively short distance, well-trained soldiers were capable of accurately sending the shells inside.
Even if some missed and hit the outer walls, it did not matter—they would just reload and continue the bombardment.
Although Gu Hang’s current territory did not yet have the capability to produce replenishment ammunition and shells, the current expenditure was still from the supplies taken from the starship.
However, the stockpile was sufficient, not yet to the point of needing to conserve.
After two rounds of bombardment, Gu Hang, Yan Fangxu, and the marine soldiers suddenly charged in.
They were not immediately attacked.
The places they stormed had all been subjected to heavy firepower. No mercenary dared to stay in rooms covered by machine gun and mortar fire.
Then, the marine soldiers began to quickly clear the area.
They were well-trained and divided into multiple small groups.
After confirming that there was no one outside the house and in the corridors, they kicked open one room after another.
They strictly followed the tactical requirements for breaching: using a battering ram to open the door, tossing in a tactical grenade, and sealing off the interior with crossfire before entering…
Regardless of whether there was anyone in the room, they followed the fixed procedure every time.
If the room was empty, it would only waste some time and a grenade; if there were people, under their efficient and lethal actions, the occupants often couldn’t muster any resistance before being taken down.
They cleared room after room in the villa in this manner.
Gu Hang was walking up the stairs when he heard the sound of gunfire, briefly coming from various parts of the house before quickly subsiding.
The battle was decided.
He could see that the gathered wind remained in one room, unmoving.
“Not even daring to resist? What a waste of my caution…”
As the marines cleared room after room, Yan Fangxu came to Gu Hang’s side and softly reported, “All the rooms in the villa have been cleared, only this one remains.”
“Good,” Gu Hang ordered, “Proceed with your usual breaching method.”
“Yes, sir!”
The prepared marines began their action.
However, this time, it was not as easily subdued as before.
The moment the wooden door of the room was smashed open, a dense, visible white spiral wind projectile blasted outward.
The marines who had just broken the door were caught off guard and were about to be hit.
But at that critical moment, the wind projectile suddenly dispersed.
At the crucial moment, Gu Hang made his move.
The collision of psychic powers dissipated the spiral wind projectile.
The residual force still created a strong wind, blowing the breaching soldiers backward, making them quite disheveled; the wind swept through the outer corridor, making it difficult for everyone to stand firm.
Though they were in disarray, at least there were no casualties.
A man’s voice came from inside:
“Don’t come any closer! Stay back!”
His voice was filled with panic.
It was clear that the person inside was not a resolute warrior.
However, the marines outside would not show any weakness because of this.
Despite being aware that the enemy possessed extraordinary powers, they continued their actions without any hesitation.
Amidst the strong wind, Yan Fangxu was the first to react. He personally leaned in and was the first to see a pale, middle-aged man with two bodyguards nearby.
The bodyguards in black attempted to shoot him, but Yan Fangxu’s movements were much faster than theirs.
As soon as their guns were raised, the captain’s electromagnetic rifle had already fired.
The electromagnetically accelerated metal spikes instantly killed the two men.
Immediately after, he aimed his gun at the middle-aged man.
When he saw the man raise his hand as if to do something, he fired again without hesitation.
A mini-storm of psychic energy flickered around the man, blocking the metal spike bullets.
But several soldiers followed Yan Fangxu in, all firing in unison.
The storm shield’s defense became precarious in an instant.
Finally, Gu Hang walked in.
