Chapter 99

Chapter 99: Spirit Realm

The disordered murmurs buzzed incessantly in Janna’s ears, but only for a moment—then silence.

As countless filament-like, multicolored threads streaked past her, a weightless sensation seized her.

Amid the uncontrollable dizziness, a hollow bell toll echoed within her soul.

“This is—the Spirit Realm.”

Due to her Soul Projection talent, Janna had entered the Spirit Realm multiple times through contract magic. However, because of the realm’s inherent repulsion, each of her visits had been limited by the strength of her soul.

So, she had always come and gone in a rush, unable to spare a moment to observe the Spirit Realm’s scenery.

But now, looking at the boundless black night lit by billions of starlights, with rainbow-hued magical currents flowing around each star, she was instantly mesmerized by the stunning multi-dimensional projections refracted from the magical currents.

“Master? Is that you?”

Just as Janna’s consciousness was being drawn deeper into the starry sea, a clear voice snapped her attention back.

Turning toward the voice, she saw a creature that appeared massive from her perspective, like a giant snow-white swan, flapping its wings as it approached her.

“Aph?”

“It really is you, Master! Did you come to Celestial Mountain just to see me?”

“Celestial Mountain? No… Aren’t I in the Spirit Realm right now—”

DONG. DONG. DONG.

The ethereal bell rang again, shattering Janna’s thoughts. Her vision blurred—and in an instant, the starry expanse disappeared.

In the next moment, she found herself enveloped in a soft, milky-white light.

“The Saint is coming! Master, hide quickly!”

DONG. DONG. DONG.

The bell chimed once more.

Amid a blinding holy light that resembled broad daylight, a humanoid figure with two pure white wings on its back appeared vaguely in Janna’s vision.

She couldn’t make out the details.

Yet her spiritual instincts kept screaming warnings—this winged being exuded a terrifying aura, on par with a First Tier Wizard from the Academy.

“Who’s there—!”

Her consciousness plummeted once more, and along with a powerful sense of weightlessness, the scene before Janna’s eyes was swallowed again by darkness.

Clatter!

A wand rolled off the lab bench and hit the floor.

Hearing the sound, Janna, who had been sitting on a stool with her eyes tightly shut, suddenly opened them.

“System, open Character Panel.”

“Spirit Phase Travel?”

Looking at the talent section on the Character Panel, Janna closed her eyes once more.

As her consciousness passed through the Sea of Spirit and reached her soul’s depths, she stared at the solidified talent on her Wizard Tree, gleaming like a star. Her awareness instinctively extended a tendril toward the Wizard Talent.

【Spirit Phase Travel:

① Consciousness can transform into spirit form, enabling multi-dimensional travel via Spirit Realm coordinates without consuming soul energy;

② In spirit form, the host is recognized as a Spirit Realm being and not rejected by the realm’s will;

③ In spirit form, the host retains partial capabilities from the material plane.】

“So this is what an A-level talent looks like…”

Her awareness disconnected, Janna exited the Sea of Spirit and opened her eyes.

The uncontrollable curve of her lips clearly showed her delight.

“All that effort was worth it.”

Among the people Janna knew, apprentices with A-level talents could be counted on one hand.

Like David Berg, who had the A-level [Runic Magic] talent, and Padin Green, an apprentice from Blackbone Grove with the A-level [Specter Perception].

Besides one or two in second and third year at White Coral Academy, no one in Janna’s cohort had possessed an A-level talent.

After all, Turin was merely a remote, underdeveloped Third Tier Wizard cluster.

Even students with B-level talents were considered highly promising, let alone the rare A-level ones.

Usually, apprentices with such talents would be snatched up by higher-ranked Third Tier clusters as soon as they enrolled.

Clusters like Turin, not being highly ranked, survived by exploiting local advantages and clinging desperately to retain students—barely keeping pace.

But self-pity wasn’t a long-term solution.

In Janna’s year, judging by talent alone and disregarding bloodline, she—with her dual B-level talents—was already considered the best of the best.

A-level talents like hers were so rare that even White Coral Academy had no claim over them.

They were often pre-booked long before admission.

Exhaling softly, Janna looked once more at the comment line behind the [Spirit Phase Travel] entry on the Character Panel.

“Temporarily cannot upgrade? Is that because of the level cap?”

Looking at the now-unselectable [Spirit Phase Travel], her gaze shifted to [Plant Affinity].

“The [Plant Affinity] talent is still selectable. Then, let’s proceed with the original plan—start upgrading my second talent.”

To uncover why the [Law of Growth Fragment] couldn’t be activated, Janna planned to upgrade her wizard level while also leveling her [Plant Affinity] talent—pursuing multiple paths to unlock the law.

To sit atop a golden mountain yet be unable to touch it—this was something Janna had to resolve.

After all, it directly influenced her path when advancing to a full-fledged wizard. Solving this mystery early would bring her one step closer to that goal.

“Next, it’s Spirit Power…”

Closing the Character Panel, Janna picked up the wand from the floor and began to plan her next steps.

“Talent upgrade, level upgrade, Spirit Power upgrade—these were my goals for advancing to Second Tier Apprentice. So far, I’ve completed the first two. Now, I just need to raise my Spirit Power to 20, and I’ll have achieved my first small milestone since entering the Academy.”

“After officially becoming a Second Tier Wizard Apprentice, I’ll need to comprehensively upgrade my existing spells, and also prepare materials for the second Contract Summoning and the Spirit Summoning Ritual must be prepared in advance—along with the aptitude assessment required before obtaining the qualification to pursue further studies in Dordogne."
