Chapter 83

Chapter 83: Bell Moonshadow

“Everchanging Form”

Following the same approach as when she simulated the man-eating ogre flower, Janna found the Humanoid Willow in the Thorny Forest and, with the creature showing no hostility whatsoever, successfully completed her second simulated transformation.

“As expected of the Humanoid Willow, known to rank among the top tier in defensive capabilities among low-level magical beasts. With bark this thick…”

“Even if the Thornflower Sprite and the Celestial Finch teamed up and fought it for three days and nights, I doubt they could so much as scratch its basic defenses…”

Reverting back to her human form, and seeing that her goal had been fully achieved, Janna did not linger.

She unfurled her butterfly wings and flew into the air once more.

“Roar—”

Just as she was about to leave, the Humanoid Willow, who had been silently guarding her all this time, suddenly let out a deep growl.

“I’ll come visit you again next time.”

“Roooaaar—”

Whether or not the Humanoid Willow truly understood her words didn’t matter.

anna, who had already spent quite some time in the breeding zone, flapped her wings and flew away from the creature’s domain without looking back.

As the elevator ascended rapidly, Janna finally left the Magical Creature Breeding Area and returned to the first floor of the Magic Tower.

“Thank you, Lord Door Spirit.”

“You’re welcome, polite apprentice.”

Even when dealing with alchemical beings, Janna never showed the slightest disrespect.

After all, no one knew whether this creature, as the headmaster’s private property, might whisper some pillow talk on the side.

“It really is late already.”

Since the end of her 《Elvish Language》 class at noon, Janna had been in the breeding area where there was no sense of time. She hadn’t realized how late it had gotten until she stepped out of the Magic Tower into the pitch-black evening.

“I’ll just grab a quick bite back at the dorm tonight.”

Aside from a small meal in the morning, Janna hadn’t even drunk water all day.

Though she hadn’t felt anything during her simulated transformations, now that her mind was relaxed, hunger hit her all at once.

“Janna, long time no see.”

Just as she was about to return to her dorm, a slightly hoarse voice suddenly called out behind her.

“It’s you, Bell.”

In the dark, Bell Moonshadow stepped out with silent footsteps, blending in with the night as she smiled and walked up to Janna.

“Have you been on a mission recently?”

Since the White Ballet Shoes Club gathering, Janna hadn’t seen Bell Moonshadow in the apprentice classrooms at all.

“Yeah, I just finished a mission and got back this afternoon.”

Though her robe was still neat, the dark circles under Bell Moonshadow’s eyes betrayed her exhaustion.

“It’s late. You should go get some rest.”

Hungry as she was, Janna offered some polite concern with a smile before intending to end the conversation. However—

Before she could take a step, Bell Moonshadow, smiling back, stepped directly into her path.

“Something else?”

Seeing Bell blocking her way, Janna’s smile gradually faded. She lifted her chin slightly, her calm gaze devoid of fear.

“It’s not a big deal. I just wanted to ask if we could have another apprentice duel in tomorrow’s Defense Against Dark Magic class.”

Oh?

Janna raised an eyebrow.

She had assumed Bell was here to cause trouble.

Hearing that she’d gone out of her way in the middle of the night just to request a duel, Janna actually felt relieved.

“No problem. That’s exactly what I was hoping for.”

Originally scheduled for Monday morning, the Defense Against Dark Magic class had been moved to Tuesday morning this week.

And just like last week, tomorrow’s class would also be held outdoors.

One of the training topics was apprentice wizard combat techniques in the field.

“Janna, I hope you give it your all. Otherwise, I’ll be very disappointed.”

“You don’t need to worry about that. I’ll definitely give it everything I’ve got———”

Not only would she give it her all, she’d go all out with every ounce of strength she had—just to beat her down fair and square again.

“In that case, see you tomorrow.”

“See you tomorrow.”

Just like last time, Bell Moonshadow’s gaze remained full of defiance and confident determination as she looked at Janna.

But while Bell believed she had grown rapidly, Janna had also been progressing at breakneck speed thanks to her “cheat-like” advantages.

Janna had been looking for someone to test her new techniques on, and she hadn’t expected someone to volunteer so soon.

“Caw—Caw—” Under the faint starlight, the cries of the Rook echoed through the tranquil night.

“Miss Janna.”

“Go back to sleep, Door Spirit. You’re getting old. No need to greet me every time.”

Before the Door Spirit could respond, Janna gently pushed open the door and entered her dorm.

“Today’s results weren’t bad.”

As her wizard apprentice level increased, so too would the duration she could maintain her transformations.

Moreover, once she exchanged credits to study the advanced courses of 【Transfiguration】 in the future, her mastery of 【Soul Conversion】 would deepen significantly.

By then, her transformation targets would no longer be limited to plant-based lifeforms.

As Lilith Mage had said: There are no limits to transformation.

“Bang—”

After closing the dorm door and taking off her robe, Janna grabbed a few packets of wizard snacks from the fridge to fill her stomach.

She then took a bath and resumed her daily, unwavering meditation routine.

“In another month, maybe a month and a half at most, my Spirit Power will break through to 20 points. Meanwhile, my 【Soul Projection】 talent might even reach a breakthrough before that.”

On the Wizard Talents panel, her 【Soul Projection】 talent was already at 87% progress.

At most, it would take thirteen more Daily System Quests to complete the talent upgrade.

Of course, if the quest difficulty rating increased, the EXP rewards would rise as well, further accelerating the upgrade.

“Once 【Soul Projection】 upgrades from B-level to A-level, it will certainly undergo a qualitative change. I just wonder how significant that upgrade will be compared to the B-level…”

Inhale—exhale—inhale—exhale.

Her mind gradually emptied.

Janna’s steady breathing, drawn in and released through nose and mouth, became a cycle as she entered deep meditation, continuing until the following dawn.

“Today’s breakfast is just as awful as always!”

Just out of the cafeteria, Vivian couldn’t help unleashing a flurry of complaints about the food to Janna.

“Come on, let’s go. Today’s also an outdoor Defense Against Dark Magic class. And it’s held at the dueling training ground—Professor Grace won’t tolerate tardiness.”
