Chapter 8

Not knowing how much time had passed, Felyn woke up on a bed.

Looking at the unfamiliar ceiling above, Felyn found this familiar feeling somewhat annoying.

Did I transmigrate again?

The room's décor was elegant and luxurious.

Pale gold wallpaper with intricate patterns glowed softly under the crystal chandelier's light.

White lace curtains hung before the floor-to-ceiling windows, gently swaying in the breeze and bringing the fragrance of roses from the garden.

Hearing the sound of a door handle turning at the entrance, Felyn pretended to close his eyes.

"Miss Viloti, Lord Silafiel is already somewhat angry. You just used a seventh-order seal on the Claude family's young lady. Without a reasonable explanation..."

"I was saving someone."

"But Miss Viloti..."

"I'm sorry, but I'd like to be alone right now. May I?"

With his eyes closed, Felyn could only guess what had happened through their conversation.

If he wasn't still groggy, here's what had occurred:

He and Adeline had been adventuring in the dungeon.

Then Viloti used a city-destroying seventh-order seal on Adeline.

Adeline's guards appeared in time to save her, but no one protected him, so Viloti kidnapped him and brought him here.

Insane.

Felyn felt he'd still underestimated this world.

He couldn't think of any reason why Viloti would attack Adeline.

Could this be some power struggle between major families?

He'd never heard of bad relations between the two houses.

"Fortunately, no one from the Claude family was harmed. Miss Viloti, you mustn't be so willful again!"

The elderly voice gradually faded away.

With his eyes closed, Felyn only heard footsteps.

Sometimes sound was strange—just from frequency and tone, you could tell what kind of beautiful girl it was.

Viloti came to Felyn's bedside and stood quietly.

Her pink hair fell smoothly over her shoulders, amber eyes lingering on Felyn's face.

She wore a light-colored dress, looking like a princess from a fairy tale.

After Viloti maintained this posture motionlessly for five full minutes, tension finally appeared in her eyes.

She slowly reached out her hand, approaching Felyn's face.

Her hair fell on Felyn's chest, letting him smell the girl's fragrance.

Those hands adorned with gemstone rings stopped three centimeters from Felyn's face—close enough to feel his breathing.

Pink appeared on Viloti's fair neck. She withdrew her hand and covered her throat.

"Ugh, my head hurts."

Felyn made fake groaning sounds, telling Viloti he was about to wake up.

"Where is this?"

Felyn blinked, looking at the person standing by his bed.

The sunset was perfectly blocked by Viloti's figure, forming a soft halo behind her.

She stood there as if plated with gold, even her hair tips dyed with warm orange.

"My home. You were kidnapped."

I know.

You kidnapped me.

"So, you kidnapped me to..."

Viloti looked at Felyn, tilting her head to one side.

"You were kidnapped by Adeline. I saved you."

Felyn was somewhat confused.

He suspected his life was like accidentally pressing the "next episode" button twice while binge-watching—quite a long stretch of plot had been skipped.

"Adeline kidnapped me?"

Though it did feel about right.

"I happened to be in the dungeon today too and saw Adeline with many guards. Then I saw you with her."

Viloti took a deep breath and said softly.

"I saw your forced smile and knew you'd been kidnapped."

My forced smile?

Impossible!

Felyn felt his professional ethics had been challenged.

His expression absolutely couldn't be described as a "forced smile"!

Felyn had spent countless nights practicing his most natural expression in front of a mirror—he could maintain the most sincere smile even while sleeping or sleepwalking.

How had Viloti, from such a distance, seen through it?

"Um, may I ask why you thought I was forcing a smile?"

Viloti raised an eyebrow, as if hearing something incredible.

"You only smile like that for me. What's strange about that? Adeline must have forced you."

Oh no.

That was a dangerous statement.

Am I some kind of doll to her?

Felyn spread his hands on the bed, not thinking about any possibilities.

Exhausted. Really exhausted.

"Adeline had quite a few guards, right? How did you kidnap... save me?"

"I used a seventh-order seal that instantly confuses people's consciousness without harming them."

A seventh-order seal—premium high-grade goods that couldn't be bought even for ten million crowns.

She used it just like that. Truly worthy of a young lady.

"Miss Viloti, I'm very grateful you saved me."

Felyn lifted the covers and found his clothes had been changed to silk pajamas.

"Thank you. Now that I'm fine, I won't continue disturbing you."

He secretly glanced at Viloti, afraid she might show some terrifying expression.

"I understand."

Viloti nodded with no particular expression.

"Your clothes were accidentally soiled when I saved you. As compensation, I'll have someone make you a new set."

Before Felyn could refuse, Viloti clapped her hands and called for the butler outside.

"Young lady, we'll begin right away."

Felyn didn't want any financial relationship with Viloti and intended to refuse again.

But seeing several maids walking through the main door made his heart skip a beat.

He had no mind for other messy thoughts.

Maids! Real maids!

Actual maids wearing maid outfits!

It was so good to be alive!

Thinking about these cute maid sisters showing shy expressions while having to touch his body to take measurements...

Fantastic!

"Why not use male servants?"

Viloti's cold words pierced through Felyn's fantasy.

"My apologies, young lady. I'll change them immediately."

The light went out of Felyn's eyes as he gave up resistance and turned to stone.

"Excuse us."

Several middle-aged men removed his pajamas and measured his body with measuring tape.

Felyn sighed, then suddenly realized something was wrong.

Why hadn't Viloti left yet?

Though his back was to her, Felyn could still smell the fragrance of that hair care product Viloti used.

Viloti stood in place, hands in front of her, gripping her skirt hem.

I forgot to leave!

She'd only focused on keeping the maids away from Felyn and completely forgot she should leave too.

What to do?

Leaving now would clearly show she was embarrassed.

Standing here quietly should go unnoticed, right?

Viloti forced herself to watch Felyn's body, not noticing her breathing had quickened.

Her gaze unconsciously lingered on Felyn's back.

The young man's slender yet firm silhouette looked particularly defined under the lights.

Viloti felt her face getting hotter. She pressed her hands to her cheeks, trying to cool down.

"Young lady, we've finished measuring. It can be made in an hour."

"I, I understand."

Several male servants bowed respectfully, left temporary clothes, and closed the door from outside.

"Um, Miss Viloti. I'm very grateful for what you've done. You don't need to compensate me."

"Eh?"

Viloti turned around, showing slight surprise on her face.

"Miss Viloti is compensating me, right? You feel that because I pursued you, I received a lot of criticism and lived miserably, so you're helping me?"

Felyn put on the casual clothes, touching the gold thread embroidery on the cuffs.

The twilight light grew dimmer, and the last trace of red clouds slowly dissipated on the horizon.

The rose garden outside was shrouded in dusk, with tiny dewdrops on the petals like silent tears.

"Miss Viloti is truly kind. I'm very grateful for everything you've done for me."

Is that it?

Viloti asked herself.

She couldn't explain the reason for her actions.
