Chapter 44

After the dismissal bell rang, Felyn packed up the books on his desk.

Today he had earnestly studied for the entire day.

Tonight was Adeline's service time, and he'd have to take a car over later.

He wondered what this young lady would have him do tonight.

Honestly, those confessions every day were really getting boring.

But since Adeline was the boss, he just had to obediently take the money and do the work.

Felyn slung his bag over his shoulder and was about to leave when his communication seal rang.

"Felyn, you don't need to come over tonight. I happen to be going to your school."

Adeline's message made Felyn raise an eyebrow.

Was she going to have him serve her at school?

Felyn sat back down and pondered how to deal with Adeline at school.

She certainly wouldn't want to expose this relationship in public either, so he should keep some distance first and ask her privately later.

But she probably wouldn't do anything too excessive at school, so he could slack off today.

"Felyn, aren't you leaving?"

Viloti stood outside the window, staring at Felyn.

Oh no, I had forgotten about her.

"Miss Viloti, I still have some things to do. You go first. Also, you don't need to wait for me to go home together—we don't go the same way anyway."

Viloti stood in place as if she hadn't heard anything.

Previously, Felyn would always see her to the school gate, so she should do the same thing.

"I'm not in a hurry."

But I am.

Felyn could already imagine Adeline sitting in a car rushing over here.

If those two met here, he'd be in trouble.

"Miss Viloti, if you go home too late, your father will worry. Go home first, don't wait for me."

"Are you waiting for Bernice? Want to look at her chest again?"

"No! And I wasn't looking at her chest!"

Felyn was somewhat speechless—how could that cold expression say such things?

"Then I'm not waiting for you either."

"Then what are you standing here for?"

Viloti blinked and tilted her head.

"I'm looking at the scenery."

Felyn felt that Viloti had grasped the essence of professional simping—shamelessly saying such lame excuses.

Several girls ran past behind Viloti in the hallway.

"Lady Adeline is here! Do you want to go see?"

"Really? Where is she?"

"She just entered the main gate. She looks super beautiful today!"

Oh no, Adeline had already arrived.

Felyn looked up at Viloti, who quickly turned her head slightly away, pretending not to look at him.

This young lady really planned to outlast him to the end.

He should have pretended to leave school earlier, sent Viloti away, then snuck back.

It was too late now—going out would definitely be seen by Adeline at the school gate.

If she saw him with Viloti, she might immediately drag him home for proper training.

"Felyn, do you want to eat together tomorrow?"

"No, we agreed today was the last time."

"If we can eat together tomorrow, then I need to go home early to prepare."

Felyn looked at Viloti. Her face still showed no expression, and the sunset glow on her looked quite beautiful.

This girl was threatening him, wasn't she?

'If we eat together tomorrow, I can leave early.' She must be threatening him like this, right?

Damn, he hadn't expected Viloti to evolve so quickly.

Was Felyn the type to be threatened?

"Fine! We'll eat together tomorrow, but it's really the last time. It's not good for anyone if people see us walking so close together."

He just wanted to continue looking at Viloti's feet while eating—it wasn't that he was being threatened.

"Mm mm!"

A triumphant smile appeared at the corner of Viloti's mouth. She put her hands behind her back and left on her tiptoes.

Tomorrow Felyn could eat with her again.

How wonderful.

She planned to try cooking for Felyn too, just like how Felyn used to bring her food every day.

When he could no longer live without her lunch boxes one day, he would actively return to her side.

Viloti was in quite a good mood. She hummed a little tune as she walked downstairs.

At the corner, she saw that rose-tea colored hair.

"Miss Viloti, long time no see."

Adeline hadn't expected to meet her here either. She nodded at Viloti.

"Adeline." Viloti returned the greeting. She suddenly wondered if Felyn was waiting for Adeline.

That shouldn't be the case.

At her graduation banquet, Viloti had discovered that Adeline actually had a crush on Felyn.

Although Adeline really liked Felyn, Felyn didn't seem to have good feelings toward her.

"Are you here to find Felyn?"

Adeline hadn't expected Viloti to say this. Her heartbeat suddenly skipped a beat.

"I'm here at Saint Andros Academy to handle matters regarding the joint school celebration, and of course I'm also here to find Felyn. He's my assistant."

"Assistant?"

"Yes, to facilitate communication between the schools, they mutually sent volunteer assistants. What a coincidence that Felyn is my assistant."

Saying this, Adeline lifted her chin slightly with some pride.

Viloti, seeing me so close to Felyn, you must be very sad.

I've stolen away Felyn who used to like you.

"Oh." Viloti nodded with no reaction whatsoever.

"Eh, don't you want to say something?"

Adeline still wanted to see Viloti's unwilling expression.

"Say what?"

Viloti felt no jealousy toward Adeline in her heart, only sympathy. To get close to Felyn, she had used such obvious methods. Girls in unrequited love were actually this humble.

"Nothing. Then I'll go find Felyn first. Miss Viloti, goodbye."

Adeline was somewhat dejected. Viloti's imagined expression hadn't appeared, and the way she looked at her seemed strange somehow.

She stood at the corner and arranged her hair for the sixth time.

For some reason, she felt a bit nervous...

After confirming her appearance had no problems, Adeline took a deep breath and pushed open Felyn's classroom door.

Only Felyn was in the classroom, and Adeline saw him at first glance.

"Felyn, sorry for coming without telling you in advance."

Adeline entered the classroom and couldn't help looking around.

So this was where Felyn usually spent time?

She worried that arbitrarily arranging for Felyn to join the volunteers this morning would make him angry, so she lowered her head slightly, her hands behind her back gripping each other tightly.

"Lady Adeline is giving me a surprise! I can actually see you at school."

Fortunately, Felyn didn't seem angry.

"About this morning's matter, I didn't consider things thoroughly." Adeline gently swayed her body, pressing her lips together, her neck somewhat flushed.

From kindergarten until now, Adeline had never made a single mistake, much less apologized.

This was her first time in ten years.

"I thought about it, and I did overstep. How about this—you can be my assistant during my contract period, and you don't need to come other times. Of course, the benefits and subsidies remain unchanged."

Equivalent to working one job for two salaries, but Adeline didn't care about money.

She just wanted to give Felyn an excuse so he could use the contract's name to express his feelings.

"I apologize for my behavior. If you're unhappy, I can also fulfill one request of yours."

Saying this, Adeline's eyelashes fluttered rapidly. Even if Felyn made a slightly excessive request this time, it would be fine...

The setting sun passed through the gap between them, dyeing Adeline's face with a layer of gentle gold.

That ray of light gilded her delicate features with a dreamlike halo, like the gentlest makeup bestowed by heaven.

Adeline's blue-gray eyes were slightly moist, like gems covered with a thin mist, not daring to look directly into Felyn's eyes.

In the quiet classroom, Adeline heard her heartbeat growing louder. She tightly gripped her skirt hem, waiting for the response from the young man before her.

Looking at Adeline who seemed to be confessing, Felyn could barely close his mouth.

Was this the feeling of hard-earned easy money?
