Chapter 95

Chapter 95

Gunfire echoed through the black mist.

Happy was fleeing desperately, leaving a trail at her feet from the blood dripping down her left shoulder.

The monster she encountered was a threat beyond imagination. She launched a few attacks. Took one hit. That was enough for Happy to understand—this dark pit was a terrifying place.

Happy hid herself in the shadows.

While trying to control her breathing, she held her breath, swallowing hard as sweat slowly beaded and cooled her body. She peeked quietly beyond the cover.

"Click click"

"Tch"

Right in front of her, it was clicking its jaw.

It had apparently been waiting for Happy to show her face.

With a whoosh, an arm swung down. She activated three defense-type skills, trying to block the damage with a multiplied shield. Her left arm, still gripping the gun, flew through the air and flopped to the ground.

"Ugh, gah!"

"Click click"

Happy dropped to her knees, clutching the warm, bleeding wound at her shoulder with all her might, trying to keep her life from spilling out.

But it was all meaningless. That one strike had already proven she had no power to stand against the monster before her, nor any mystical force strong enough to defend herself.

"You've got to be kidding me... what is this dungeon...?"

Overwhelming. Overwhelmingly unknown, and the danger was on a whole different dimension—this dungeon was terrifying.

Happy had conquered Class 4 dungeons countless times before, but she had never faced a threat like the monster before her. It was absurdly dangerous.

The monster raised one of its six arms.

The raised arm swelled slightly, transformed, and turned into a silver blade.

The arm came swinging down.

The end. It was over. Happy didn't look away.

Maybe it was the pride of a top explorer. Maybe she didn't want to disgrace the life she had devoted to exploring labyrinths and battling the unknown.

Either way, her resolve was about to be betrayed.

A black claw attacked from behind the silver monster.

It happened just one-tenth of a second before Happy was finished off.

The monster immediately noticed the ambush and tried to shake off the assassin.

Happy's eyes widened as she witnessed it all.

The one who had attacked the silver monster was a humanoid being, slightly smaller than the monster itself.

But even though it was humanoid, its unnaturally long limbs made it impossible to consider it human.

Wearing a dark cloak, the non-human assassin channeled dark flames into its black claws and forcefully pierced the silver monster.

Happy knew how strong the silver monster's defense was, so she was sure that kind of attack wouldn't work.

Yet strangely, the black claw penetrated the silver shell and sank deep inside the monster.

Happy couldn't even imagine what kind of feat that was.

All she understood was that this black assassin was a creature as monstrous as the silver one, and judging by the color of its evil flames, thinking it was an ally was far too optimistic.

This was her only chance. Her chance to escape.

Clutching her agonizing shoulder, Happy took off running.

She didn't know how far she'd run. An hour, maybe two?

She ran and ran, far enough that she was sure those things would never find her. That's what she believed. But somehow, it didn't feel like she'd run that far, and it didn't feel like much time had passed either.

This black mist messes with your sense of direction.

It's doing some kind of damage to your mind.

Happy understood that much, but unfortunately, as someone who lived by momentum, she relied on her status values alone for mental protection. So even if her mind was being affected, she had no means to counter it.

She ran blindly.

Suddenly, she bumped into something.

It didn't hurt. In fact, it was soft. Or rather, fluffy.

"What the heck is this... in a place like this..."

"Chee chee chee"

"......"

When she looked up, there was a round, adorable something with white, fluffy feathers and beady black eyes.

Its round form looked far from evil. So cute.

"First villager discovered."

A young man poked his head out from behind the white fluff and said that.
