Chapter 2
Interlude
...
As the sound of footsteps drew near, the girl who had just left returned once again to the dilapidated house.
"Almost forgot this."
The girl wore an expression of disgust as she muttered to herself while looking at the clothes on the ground.
So filthy...
Though full of disdain, there was no helping it. After all, a whole person had vanished without a trace. Even if he was just a vile, violent rapist whose death wasn't worth pitying, there was still a chance someone might notice his disappearance and end up causing trouble for her.
Although the girl was quite certain she hadn’t left behind any evidence that could lead others back to her… it was better to be safe than sorry.
This place was so desolate even birds wouldn't bother with it. If she didn’t deal with the clothes, they’d probably just sit here forever, only to be cleared out once the half-demolished house was finally leveled to the ground.
She couldn’t afford to leave behind any trace of her existence.
After carefully picking up the clothes from the ground, the girl left once more.
"Now that I think about it, this construction crew really is just a bunch of scumbags who left things half-finished..."
Her ethereal voice gradually faded into the night, merging with the darkness.
