Chapter 70: Don’t Use Anything Given by an Evil Scientist
“Beautiful splash!”
Yi Ning took the whiteboard handed over by the robot beside her, wrote a big “10” on it, and raised it high over her head.
“Let’s congratulate contestant Pixel Mask on winning the championship of this diving competition!”
She casually tossed the board aside, fiddled with something on the robot, and pressed a button.
A thunderous round of applause erupted in response.
Splash.
Lu Zheng surfaced from the water.
A small wiper flipped out from the top of his helmet, wiped the water off his pixel screen, then flipped back in.
“What kind of diving competition is this?”
His pixel screen displayed an angry face.
The applause abruptly stopped with his question.
“How is it not a competition?”
Yi Ning refused to back down.
“You literally kicked me off the shore into the water! How is that diving?”
Lu Zheng tilted his head; his screen displayed a side-glance. He pointed at Yi Ning.
“Diving isn’t that complicated! As long as you jump from a high platform into water, it counts as diving!”
Yi Ning straightened her back proudly and countered with full confidence.
Faced with such thick-skinned logic, Lu Zheng could barely hold it together.
“Platform? High ground? Then tell me, where is this platform? Where is this high place?”
“Of course, it’s the Eurasian plate! Diving from a height of 31.9 meters!”
“?”
Lu Zheng’s screen showed a mix of confusion and shock.
He really couldn’t take this seriously.
After a long pause, he reluctantly accepted the Eurasian plate nonsense.
But he still didn’t get it.
“And where exactly did this ‘31.9 meters’ figure come from?”
“Ugh, and you’re supposed to be a hero from D-City? Don’t you know that D-City is 31.9 meters above sea level? If it were a few dozen meters higher, you might have broken a non-superpowered diving world record.”
Yi Ning shrugged, took out her phone, glanced at the time, and gave a subtle smirk.
“I doubt they’d recognize that kind of record.”
Lu Zheng said while swimming toward the edge of the hot spring.
“Hold it right there!”
Seeing Lu Zheng trying to leave the hot spring, Yi Ning quickly jumped to block his way.
“What’s the rush? You don’t like the hot spring at my place?”
She stood with hands on hips, clearly annoyed.
Lu Zheng grabbed the edge of the spring, looking up at the sadly flat space between Yi Ning’s neck and feet.
He wanted to laugh.
But I didn't dare.
“Usually, people clean off before soaking in hot springs, right?”
He tried to explain.
But Yi Ning was unrelenting.
“Typical hot springs, maybe. But mine is different.”
She proudly raised her chin and made a sweeping motion with her right hand.
Lu Zheng was puzzled.
How could her hot spring be somehow superior?
“What’s so different about it?”
He asked.
“Other hot springs are open to the public, so hygiene is important. But mine is only open to the two of us. I don’t mind you.”
“Ah?”
Lu Zheng froze for a second—he might have read too much into that.
Honestly, it was hard not to.
Meanwhile, Yi Ning, unaware of what Lu Zheng was thinking, tilted her head and glanced at her phone again.
Her lips curled into a grin.
The trap was set. The ambush was complete.
Not even Lu Zheng could escape!
“Kehehehehe!”
That familiar evil laugh sent shivers down Lu Zheng’s spine.
Yi Ning raised her right hand and pointed dramatically at Lu Zheng in the hot spring.
“You’ve fallen into my trap, foolish Pixel Mask!”
“What?”
The familiar phrase triggered Lu Zheng’s reflexes.
He raised his arms into a defensive stance and scanned the surroundings warily.
But nothing happened.
“Uh… what exactly is the trap?”
He asked, genuinely confused.
Yi Ning, however, only crossed her arms and kept laughing smugly, ignoring his question.
“Hmm… hehehe… hahahahaha…”
Finally, after enjoying herself enough, she condescended to explain.
“You still don’t get it? You’re already trapped, foolish Pixel Mask.”
Lu Zheng moved around in the water.
No resistance.
He had no idea what she meant.
Seeing his confusion, Yi Ning had to explain further.
“Experience the anguish and torment of losing something precious!”
Lu Zheng followed her instructions and tried to feel.
Now that she mentioned it, his lower body did feel oddly… exposed.
“!”
He reached down.
Gone!
The tactile feedback was undeniable.
How could this be?
Panicking, he reached down again.
Still gone.
It was just empty down there.
“What did you do to me?!”
Now Lu Zheng was truly alarmed.
He wanted to jump out and grab Yi Ning by the collar—but the absence of a certain item made that difficult.
All he could do was curl up in the water.
“Hehehehe… Hahahahaha!”
Yi Ning stood on the shore, laughing triumphantly. After she had her fill, she leaned forward and mocked him further.
“Didn’t your mother ever tell you? Never wear swimwear given to you by an evil scientist in an evil scientist’s hot spring, because…”
“Swimwear given by an evil scientist might be water-soluble!”
Then she burst into another bout of victorious laughter.
“Hahahaha!”
“Oh, right.”
Halfway through laughing, she added with a smirk:
“By the way, this particular pair of swim trunks is eco-friendly and fully biodegradable. Dissolves in water and even enriches it with trace elements!”
“Trace elements my ass!”
Lu Zheng, furious, slammed his fist into the water.
