Chapter: 62 Do Not Throw Objects from High Altitudes

Yi Ning’s eyes rolled twice, and she beckoned to Lu Zheng, who was standing by the door.

“What is it?”

Lu Zheng scratched his head, puzzled, and walked over.

Since she had already admitted defeat, there was no need to keep clinging to the door handle like guarding a fortress.

“Could you stand right here for a moment?”

Yi Ning pointed to a tile near where Lu Zheng was standing, signaling for him to step onto it.

“?”

Lu Zheng was a bit confused.

Though he didn’t understand what Yi Ning was up to, after hesitating for two seconds, he ultimately chose to trust her.

He nodded and stepped onto the spot she indicated.

Based on his understanding of Yi Ning’s personality, Lu Zheng remained cautious even after stepping onto the specified tile.

Clack!

Clack!

He pressed down on the tile with some force.

It was very solid, and the sound it made was no different from the other tiles.

He bent down to examine whether there was anything strange on it.

The tile was smooth and clean, with no visible markings.

Could he have been wrong?

Lu Zheng looked toward Yi Ning in confusion—only to find a smug expression replacing her usual irritation.

So it was a trap?

The expression on Lu Zheng’s pixelated screen instantly changed to one of resignation.

He knew it.

Yi Ning pulled a remote from her pocket.

Alarms blared in Lu Zheng’s mind.

He was doomed!

A foreboding feeling rose up from within. Instinctively, his right leg began to stretch outward—but unfortunately, it was already too late.

Just as that feeling surfaced, Yi Ning pressed a button, and the tile beneath Lu Zheng suddenly sprang up, catapulting him into the air.

At the same time, the ceiling above became transparent—as if it had ceased to exist—allowing Lu Zheng to fly right through.

“Bon voyage.”

Yi Ning waved at Lu Zheng’s departing figure.

Only when his silhouette disappeared into the sky did the ceiling and floor tile return to their original states.

Yi Ning stowed the remote back into her pocket and strolled away leisurely.

“Huh?”

Something unexpected appeared in the corner of Yi Ning’s eye.

She turned her head.

It was Lu Zheng’s pixel screen helmet.

She had forgotten to put it back on him.

And his vehicle was still parked outside the door.

Yi Ning’s expression turned a little awkward.

Anyway, he’d be coming back this afternoon, so she’d just return it to him then.

She averted her gaze, pretended not to notice, and pushed open the kitchen door to walk out.

Several reality projectors hidden in concealed corners were still faithfully running, masking the current state of the base with projections of its unmodified interior.

“Your work is done.”

Yi Ning took the remote from her pocket and pressed a button.

The projections vanished instantly, revealing the base’s true appearance.

The formerly gray-black flooring had been replaced with cobbled paths and various plants. The whitewashed walls had become high-definition projection screens broadcasting 24/7 footage of stolen backyard landscapes. To match the scenery, all incandescent lamps had been removed from the ceiling, and the ceiling material replaced with transparent panels displaying sky imagery.

At the very center of the base, the area once used for evil inventions had been turned into a hot spring made of rounded stones.

Puddles of water were scattered along the stone-paved paths around the hot spring.

The robots she’d kicked over earlier had left those messes.

“Your work is done, but mine has only increased.”

Yi Ning rubbed her temples.

Sighing, she walked over to the grass, pulled out a giant net from within, slung it over her shoulder, and stood at the edge of the hot spring, gazing helplessly into the water.

The sunken robot wasn’t far—it could be vaguely seen from the shore.

Yi Ning extended the net into the water, reaching toward the robot’s location. Once she felt the top of the net hit something, she began wiggling it, carefully ensnaring the robot and slowly pulling it back to shore.

“Garbage retrieval successful.”

She hoisted the robot from the water with effort, set the net aside, and stood up from the ground.

“Good thing I made these guys waterproof back then.”

Using the tip of her toe, Yi Ning nudged the bottom of the robot, opened the control panel on its back, knelt down, and began rebooting it.

“Hello, World!”

After uttering that phrase, the pixel screen on the robot’s head lit up, and two pixelated eyes appeared.

Reboot successful.

“Mm.”

Yi Ning nodded in satisfaction, closed the panel on the robot’s back, and stood up.

“Get to work.”

She gave the robot a light kick, pointed at the net she had tossed aside, and walked away.

She was off to activate the hot spring’s filtration system.

She didn’t know whether Lu Zheng minded soaking in a hot spring already visited by a robot—but she definitely minded.

After Yi Ning left, the robot blinked its eyes, picked up the net from the ground, returned it to its place, then fetched a mop from the bathroom and meticulously wiped its own butt near the hot spring.

……

Meanwhile—High above D-City, Lu Zheng—who had been catapulted by Yi Ning—was flying rapidly toward the Hero Association’s branch.

Fierce wind howled past him.

A constant “rumbling” sound filled his ears.

Without his helmet, his hair had become a total mess.

Propping his chin with one hand and crossing his left foot over his right knee, Lu Zheng lay comfortably in the sky as he rocketed forward.

“With an exit like this, shouldn’t I be shouting ‘I’ll be back!’ or something?”

He chuckled at himself.

No doubt, Yi Ning’s tech level was truly something else.

In less than a minute, Lu Zheng could already see the Hero Association’s building from high above.

Eyeballing it mid-air, he realized his landing point had also been set there.

“Guess it’s about time to land.”

Seeing the building grow closer in his field of vision, Lu Zheng took out a die from his pocket and tossed it into the air.

In an instant, the howling wind blew the die clean out of sight.

“Well, that’s…”

This unexpected result left Lu Zheng stunned.

He turned to look in the direction the die had been blown and wore a complicated expression.

Would this count as throwing objects from a high altitude?

Fortunately, like Yi Ning’s lab, the area around the Hero Association was deserted. He didn’t have to worry about his die hitting any innocent bystanders.

Lu Zheng adjusted his posture in the air, curling his body slightly and pointing his feet downward, ready to enjoy a round of “Ground Breaker” mode.

Then with a thud, he smacked into the Hero Association’s protective barrier.

“Unlucky.”

Upside-down, feet up and head down, Lu Zheng clung tightly to the building’s shield.

Then the shield vanished.

Smack!

A human-shaped crater appeared on the ground in the Hero Association’s courtyard.
