Chapter 41: What’s going on? Still not dead?
After venting her dissatisfaction, Yi Ning turned her gaze back to the two people kneeling on the floor.
She scrutinized the two guys from head to toe, then suddenly thought of something very important.
Since the boss was now so favored at home, shouldn’t the funding for the organization she founded also get a bump?
But these two hadn’t mentioned anything about that.
Yi Ning’s expression instantly turned cold.
She swept her gaze across the backs of Ji Ping and Xia An, then, seated loftily on the sofa, began her interrogation of the two.
“Is there something you haven’t told me?”
Sitting on the sofa with her legs crossed, arms folded across her chest, Yi Ning scrutinized the two criminals prostrating themselves on the ground.
“What do you mean?”
They didn’t react immediately.
“The boss is so pampered now—given her father’s personality, there’s no way he would shortchange his beloved daughter’s organization, right?”
Game over.
The bodies of the two lying on the floor stiffened instantly upon hearing this, and their heads dipped even lower.
Seeing their reaction, how could Yi Ning not understand what was going on?
These two motherless scoundrels actually dared to embezzle the Evil Funds that rightfully belonged to her?!
Granted, the organization’s funds were supposed to be shared, but as the only one actually getting evil work done, Yi Ning had no qualms monopolizing all of it—except for the fixed portion given to the boss.
Normally, she might let a little slip through her fingers for these two since they at least did some work. But now? They had the audacity to embezzle her funds? Unforgivable!
Time to strike hard!
“Speak! How much did you embezzle?”
Yi Ning stood up from the sofa, stomped a foot on it, slapped the sofa’s backrest in fury, and pointed at the two filthy creatures groveling on the ground.
The two trembled, not daring to utter a single word.
Seeing their silence, Yi Ning swept them with her icy gaze, finally locking eyes on Ji Ping.
Xia An was a slippery one—even if he confessed under pressure, he probably wouldn’t tell the truth. Ji Ping was easier to handle.
She decided to start soft.
“I understand you, Ji Ping. That’s why I didn’t say anything when you guys used to sneak around behind my back. I took it as giving you a few little perks. But this time, you’ve gone too far.”
Cold sweat ran down Ji Ping’s back. He instinctively tried to turn his head to consult Xia An.
“Freeze!”
Of course Yi Ning wouldn’t let that happen.
Seeing Ji Ping start to turn, she barked at him loudly.
“I’m talking to you! Don’t look around!”
“I’m telling you, Ji Ping—what you two did today is enough for me to hand each of you a one-way ticket to Uranus! Or would you prefer a visit to Mr. Bach on the Sun?”
Start with the soft, follow with the hard—that was how you keep things balanced.
Seeing Ji Ping still unmoved, Yi Ning sighed helplessly.
No choice—it was time for her ultimate move.
She glanced at Xia An lying beside him and decided to trust this scumbag’s character.
“Whoever confesses first can cancel their ticket to Uranus. I’ll even let go of today’s betrayal. As for the other one…”
Yi Ning deliberately drew out her words, applying psychological pressure.
“The other one will receive a one-way ticket beyond the Milky Way.”
“By the way, I could also just send both of you to Neptune and do a little extra work myself.”
She sat back on the sofa, propped her legs up on the coffee table beside it, crossed her arms, leaned back, and fixed her gaze on Xia An.
“The boss’s family doubled our funding.”
Just as she expected.
That scumbag Xia An immediately and decisively sold out Ji Ping, who had been taking all the pressure from Yi Ning for her.
“I confess! It was Ji Ping who suggested hiding it from you, Yi Ning!”
Then, he dumped a whole bucket of filth on Ji Ping.
Ji Ping turned to Xia An with a look of utter disbelief—this person beside him who reversed black and white so effortlessly and without guilt.
He protested, “It was clearly you…”
But Xia An gave him no chance to speak.
“Ji Ping kept pushing me to embezzle your funds! His heart is truly wicked! If not for my own unwavering loyalty, he might have succeeded! You must see the truth clearly!”
Faced with such shameless groveling, Yi Ning curled her lips and let out a sneer.
“Heh~”
Like she didn’t know who the real mastermind was?
But still—
These two really had guts. They dared to steal half her funds!
The more Yi Ning thought about it, the angrier she got. She couldn’t help blurting out:
“My funds—you took half… no, you took the previous ones too, that’s two-thirds…”
“And you dare talk about justice…”
“My money! You took two-thirds and gave me one-third—am I supposed to thank you?!”
She slapped the sofa armrest: “Drag them out for execution… no, send them both to Mars!”
Hearing Yi Ning’s judgment, Xia An felt like she had been struck by lightning.
What about the promise to let the confessor go?!
She hurriedly crawled forward and clutched the camera that connected to Yi Ning.
“Dad! Didn’t you say if I confessed you’d let me go? If you must chop someone, just chop Ji Ping! Don’t send me to Mars!!”
Seeing Xia An’s face crammed into the screen, Yi Ning snorted disdainfully.
“Everyone knows—I never keep my promises. Especially not to you.”
She pointed at Xia An.
Then swept her gaze to the remaining corner of Ji Ping visible in the screen.
“You two, stay put. I’ll be over soon to send you to astronaut training.”
Yi Ning’s face was dark as night.
Seeing her like this, both Ji Ping and Xia An broke into a cold sweat.
Ji Ping deeply regretted listening to Xia An and hiding the funding increase.
Coincidentally, Xia An also regretted believing Ji Ping’s nonsense—diverting the Council’s monitors and playing the “firing” trick on Yi Ning.
They’d gotten too cocky after managing to catch Yi Ning off guard for once.
In the end, it was Xia An who reacted quickest.
She pinched herself hard, squeezing out tears and snot.
“Dad, save me!”
She changed targets, aiming at Lu Zheng, who had been quietly sitting in the observer seat.
Whether he had something going on with Yi Ning or not, the fact that he was in Yi Ning’s house and could talk to her normally was undeniable.
And most importantly, during the whole firing prank, Lu Zheng had firmly stood by Yi Ning.
Whatever the truth, this guy was their last hope.
Xia An stealthily kicked Ji Ping in a camera-blind spot, signaling him to beg Lu Zheng for mercy too.
