Chapter 6: Don’t Call Me Cute
“Welcome back, Princess.”
In front of her room, Sera, her maid, had already been waiting.
She bowed to Shay in welcome.
“Have you already informed Her Majesty the Queen of today’s victory?”
“Yes, Sera, Mother praised me quite a bit! Eh heh heh!”
Shay pushed the door open, cheerfully hopped inside, swung her leg, kicked off her shoes, then flopped onto the bed and started rolling around with a pillow in her arms.
“Sera, Sera, was I amazing today?”
Her face was full of “Quick, praise me!” expression. Rather than a dragon, she resembled an energetic little puppy, her eyes sparkling with starlight.
“Your performance today truly exceeded my expectations; you were indeed excellent in combat, impeccable.”
Sera closed the door and picked up the shoes from the floor, placing them properly where they should be.
“However, Princess, although you have gained the Dragon Race’s recognition in terms of strength, you still need to maintain excellence in etiquette. Kicking off your shoes everywhere and running around the room only in socks is not behavior befitting a lady.”
“Eh, that’s too much trouble, Sera.”
“Princess, you might need to retake your Royal Etiquette Class.”
“W-w-what?!”
Upon hearing the words “Etiquette Class,” Shay immediately felt a chill down her spine.
Memories of that old, bad-tempered, single old dragon lady teacher flooded back.
For instance, to correct her posture, Shay was subjected to an Immobilization Spell by the etiquette teacher and made to sit for several hours straight, unable to even scratch an itch on her tail. It was simply a double torture of body and spirit.
Her head was already starting to hurt; she had to bluff her way through!
“Sera, great people don’t bother with trivialities. How can one achieve great things by focusing on such details!”
Shay sat up from the bed.
She even mimicked the Silver Dragon Queen, crossing her legs and casting an arrogant gaze at her maid.
Her small, exquisite jade feet, covered in translucent white stockings, dangled lightly up and down by the bedside.
“I am destined to be the Overlord who will rule the Dragon Race in the future; there’s no need to adhere strictly to all those completely tedious and unnecessary ladylike etiquettes!”
Watching her Little Princess trying hard to imitate the Silver Dragon Queen’s domineering appearance, Sera was genuinely amused, almost unable to suppress her laughter.
What kind of overlord was this?
Sera felt not an ounce of majesty from this Dragon Race little one. Her forced attempts to project an aura for the sake of face only made Shay seem even cuter.
“Yes, yes, yes, Princess is truly amazing, I am convinced.”
“This time I don’t feel your sincerity, Sera; you’re clearly just humoring me.”
“The Princess is truly cute.”
“Mm, that tone is correct… Wait, don’t call me cute!”
“Then, as a Princess filled with majesty, the future Overlord of the Dragon Race, how do you find this?”
“…That sounds really awkward, just call me as you usually do,” Shay commanded her maid, “Sera, take me for a bath.”
“As you command, Princess, please don’t move.”
Sera picked up a pair of slippers and walked to Shay’s side, kneeling down, and cupped the delicate little foot before her in her palm.
She could feel Shay’s faint body temperature, and even through a layer of stockings, she could sense the smooth, jade-like skin. It was truly like a meticulously carved work of art, soft and boneless, making one genuinely want to gently knead it.
However, from Shay’s expression, Sera could tell that the Princess seemed to have little self-awareness regarding her extraordinary charm, even though her body was enough to drive anyone crazy…
Of course, as a member of the Royal Maid Corps, Sera would always maintain her excellence and not do anything out of line. She merely slipped the slippers onto Shay’s feet.
“Princess, please allow me to lead you to the bathroom.”
…
The Dragon Race Royal Palace’s bathroom was very spacious. Surrounded by mist, Shay could barely see the surrounding walls.
A Mermaid Statue held a water bottle high, from which warm hot water continuously flowed, pouring into the pool.
Shay immersed herself in the pool, feeling the fatigue from today’s battle steadily alleviate.
If she remembered correctly, these water sources were all expensive Magical Spirit Springs, possessing special effects.
Magical spring water used for alchemy in the outside world was now used for bathing… The treatment enjoyed by the Dragon Race royalty was truly extravagant.
“Sera.” Shay said.
“Princess, I am here.”
“Do you want to come in and soak too? I remember you haven’t rested in a long time.”
Shay turned her head, looking at the red-clad maid who was obediently standing to the side, waiting for her master to finish bathing.
“Thank you for your kindness, Princess, I am truly overwhelmed. However, only royalty can enjoy the Magical Spirit Springs; we Royal Maids are not qualified,” Sera calmly declined, “As long as you can enjoy it, I, as your maid, am very happy.”
“Alright, was this rule in place before I was born?”
“Yes. However, it wasn’t like this for a long time. Back then, even Ordinary Dragon Race Members could enjoy the Magical Spirit Springs just like you. The Ancient Dragon Race possessed vast and boundless territories and abundant resources, being the most powerful Upper Race. However, other Upper Races, fearing the Dragon Race, united together and waged war against us. Although our Dragon Race barely won, we lost a lot in the war…”
Shay knew about the content Sera was speaking of.
For some reason, she had a strong interest in Dragon Race history lessons and had even studied them diligently and with great relish.
It was that ancient war that caused flames of conflict to sweep through every corner of the world at the time. Whether willing or unwilling, all races of the world were drawn into it.
It was precisely because of that war that the whole world recognized the Dragon Race’s power, but the Dragon Race also paid a heavy price for it.
The Dragon Race was strong, but their biggest fear was attrition.
Because the Dragon Race’s fertility was… truly among the lowest.
The Dragon Race was still strong now, but they no longer dared to act rashly.
After all, even the united races couldn’t completely defeat the Dragon Race; such power was already deeply engraved into the bloodline memories of every race.
As long as there was any movement from the Dragon Race, other races would tacitly choose to set aside their differences and unite to oppose the Dragon Race.
This led to the Dragon Race’s existence being simply recognized as the Evil of This World.
What was even more absurd was that Shay had actually heard that the outside world considered the Silver Dragon Princess to be the future Dragon Race Tyrant, who personally flew to human cities every day to Slaughter for fun, bloodthirsty by nature, indulging her kinsmen in burning, killing and pillaging, having taken hundreds of thousands of lives in just a few years.
But in reality?
Her hobby was just staying at home and slacking off.
The outside world’s misunderstanding of the Dragon Race was truly quite significant.
