Day Eleven.
“Ah, so comfortable!”
Li Ran stretched lazily.
Last night was the most peaceful sleep he’d had in a long time.
With no little demon baby to mess things up, and the hidden danger of Yang Baobao resolved, Li Ran slept like a log till dawn.
The night before, he had been tormented by monsters in the safe house. After returning to the homeland and taking care of Yang Baobao, it was as if he hadn't slept in two days. Exhausted, he collapsed and slept through the night.
“Time to eat,” Su Bingyao called.
“Coming.”
After a quick wash-up, Li Ran headed to the dining room.
Today, Su Bingyao had prepared a delicious bowl of eight-treasure porridge. She scooped a bowl for Li Ran.
Li Ran slurped it down in one big gulp and smacked his lips. “So good. One more bowl.”
“I’ll get it for you.”
Just as Su Bingyao turned around, Li Ran grabbed her fair, slender wrist. “Look what I found.”
He waved two small red booklets in his hand.
Su Bingyao gasped and covered her mouth. “Where did you find them?”
Li Ran was holding the marriage certificates he had been searching for in vain these past few days.
“Didn't someone say, if I found the marriage certificate, I could do whatever I wanted?” Li Ran pulled Su Bingyao tightly into his arms with a mischievous grin.
Su Bingyao blushed furiously, letting him hold her. She opened the certificate and only felt relieved when she confirmed it was indeed the one she had lost.
Li Ran’s wicked hands began to explore as he breathed in her delicate scent from so close.
“Tell me where you found it,” Su Bingyao looked at Li Ran seriously.
Li Ran smirked. “Let’s talk about it in the bedroom.”
Su Bingyao poked his forehead with her slender finger. “What are you thinking? The baby will wake up soon.”
Li Ran chuckled and conjured a jersey out of thin air, handing it to her. “I’ll come back and deal with you tonight. Remember to wear this.”
Su Bingyao’s face turned crimson. She grabbed the jersey and fled to the bedroom.
Li Ran was set on redeeming himself in basketball—he had to score at least seven points tonight.
Before this, the reason he couldn’t find the marriage certificate was that even his cheat couldn’t give him a clear hint. Only after recovering it did he understand why.
Turns out the certificate wasn’t even in this dimension. The little demon baby had stolen it and tossed it carelessly in a room inside the safe house.
If he hadn't been ridiculously lucky, that certificate would have been lost forever.
No wonder Su Bingyao never had an answer when he asked—who would imagine a marriage certificate ending up in the dark world?
[Mission Complete: Marriage Certificate Hidden by Wife]
[Reward: Eerie Power +50, Points +500]
“What the hell? That’s all the reward I get for this mission?” Li Ran couldn’t help but complain.
Damn it, how could a player be expected to complete this kind of mission?
Who would’ve thought the mission would require crossing into another dimension?
If he hadn’t discovered that the little demon baby possessed a Gate of Dark... If he hadn’t been chased all over the safe house by monsters... If he hadn’t had insanely good luck, how could he have found the certificate?
Such a ridiculously hard mission and that’s all the reward?
Li Ran wanted to find someone to complain to about this freakish world, but the system’s attitude was basically: “You didn’t have to do the mission.”
[Due to perfect mission completion, a special reward is granted.]
[Perfect Completion Reward: Happy Homeland Resident Certificate 1]
Just as Li Ran finished his complaint, the mission completion chime sounded again in his ears.
“A perfect completion reward—now that’s more like it.”
Going through hell to complete an impossible mission only to receive a pittance would piss anyone off.
Li Ran immediately checked the reward.
[Happy Homeland Resident Certificate: Congratulations! You are now a resident of Happy Homeland. With this certificate, you may freely enter and exit the Happy Homeland world while in a safe state. You may also reset completed missions for replay. Usable across all dimensions. Duration: One hour. Cooldown: One day.]
[Note: Already acquired items cannot be obtained again via mission reset.]
“Holy shit!”
After reading the description, Li Ran’s heart was in turmoil.
Freely entering and exiting the Happy Homeland world?
The Family Summon card could only be used by players. Now with the Resident Certificate, Li Ran could actively return to the Happy Homeland—to Su Bingyao’s side.
But what truly shocked Li Ran was the mission reset feature.
He had acquired the [Giant Blade Set] from the killer Wang Gan but had always struggled to find a second piece. Now with the certificate, getting another one wasn’t a problem—he could grind every day for an hour.
Five minutes to defeat Wang Gan.
Fifty-five minutes with Su Bingyao.
The only regret was that equipment obtained from missions could not be collected again. Otherwise, he could have brought back multiple sets to the real world.
To the real world, these gear pieces were supernatural items. Any one of them could turn an ordinary person into a superhuman—priceless.
As for the Gate of Dark, Li Ran discovered something troubling.
Players could only use it once, and staying in the safe house for more than six hours would result in forced ejection.
This was a message from the cheat after he tried multiple failed attempts to enter the safe house again through the gate.
Only the little demon baby had unlimited access to the Gate of Dark.
That really sucked. His plan to hide in the safe house during the insane night had been completely shut down.
And really, that place shouldn’t be called a “safe house.” “Monster Prison” was far more accurate.
Because in those countless rooms, there were endless monsters from the dark world. No place was truly safe. You never knew what might be waiting behind the next door.
They roamed freely, fought each other, and there was no guidance or warning. No one could survive a night there.
That night, Li Ran had faced unprecedented danger—his life was hanging by a thread multiple times. If not for his cheat and the little demon baby guiding him, he would’ve died a thousand times over.
Community Gathering Point.
Lu Zhaohui and Zhao Yingzhi were already there waiting.
Li Ran remembered Zhao Yingzhi’s bizarre behavior in the elevator the other night.
He got a hint from his cheat: today’s Zhao Yingzhi was the real one.
Seeing Li Ran arrive, Zhao Yingzhi suddenly said, “You really should watch this video.”
“From the neighborhood group chat?” Lu Zhaohui asked.
Clearly, Lu Zhaohui had also seen the creepy elevator video of Zhao Yingzhi.
“No,” Zhao Yingzhi answered firmly.
Since she wasn’t eager to bring up that weird incident herself, Li Ran didn’t press.
She handed him a handheld camcorder. There was a video inside.
Li Ran, puzzled, hit play.
The area in the video was the pavilion at the community gathering spot.
The footage was first-person and shaky, but it showed over a dozen people—men and women.
A voice from behind the camera entered the scene: “Day two of survival.”
The speaker was the one holding the camcorder and didn’t appear on screen.
The voice sounded familiar, like he’d heard it somewhere before, but the static made it hard to place.
“Those we haven’t found are probably dead. The rest of us should stick together and stop acting alone,” said a short-haired girl in the video who looked very capable.
At this point, Li Ran and Lu Zhaohui glanced at each other, both stunned.
“These people... are players too?” Lu Zhaohui asked in disbelief.
Zhao Yingzhi didn’t say anything, just gestured for them to keep watching.
The footage continued. The person filming made sure to capture each person in the group. The short-haired girl clearly had leadership qualities—she was the one who brought everyone together.
Then, the short-haired girl looked at a stunningly beautiful woman sitting in the pavilion: “Bingyao, why don’t you tell us about your guidance mission?”
The woman slowly turned around, revealing a breathtakingly beautiful face on camera.
“???”
A tidal wave of shock crashed through Li Ran’s heart!
