Chapter 2

[Name: Li Ziyang]

[Class C Mental Infection Entity]

[Eerie Power: 60]

[Average academic performance, enjoys drawing, but when the teacher saw his artwork for the first time, she was so terrified she immediately notified the school administration and his parents.]

[He’s a fragile and sensitive child, filled with curiosity about the unknown. Patiently answering his questions can improve the trust between you two.]

[Do your best to fulfill all of the child’s requests. If he gets into a bad mood and decides to eat you, he might not even acknowledge you as his father!]

[Remember: Always stay calm and rational when facing his questions and tests.]

This text panel wasn’t a mission description from the Eerie World—it was Li Ran’s golden finger.

Whenever he had a question in his mind or sought an answer, this “golden finger” would present him with a text panel like this.

That’s why, even though he always scored at the bottom of the class, he didn’t care in the slightest.

With a cheat like this, tests were a joke. College English Level 4, Level 6—might as well be looking at the answer sheet.

But he didn’t want to live like that. What’s the point of a life where you always win by cheating? He didn’t lack money or safety, so he figured he might as well waste away in peace.

However, this panel in front of him was something he had never anticipated in his entire life.

He could almost hear the alarm sirens blaring inside his mind.

This was no “son”—this was a highly dangerous monster!

“My son’s infected and turned into a monster?” Li Ran was horrified.

Li Ziyang, carrying a heavy school bag, walked up to him.

“Dad, the teacher made me stay after school,” said Li Ziyang.

“It’s okay, s—son. L-let’s go home.”

Li Ran responded with a nervous stammer. Mostly because his son’s appearance sent chills down his spine. He didn’t want to know why the teacher kept him after school—he just wanted to complete the mission and get home as fast as possible.

Li Ran fumbled through his pockets and took out a car key.

He pressed the button, and the only Porsche parked on the street responded with a chirp.

“Hop in, son,” Li Ran said.

The boy nodded obediently, opened the back door, and quietly sat in the rear seat.

Li Ran got into the driver’s seat.

In his previous life, he’d been an experienced driver with ten years behind the wheel. Unfortunately, he’d died from overwork, burdened with car loans and mortgages.

In this life, he had no intention of living that hard.

Still, now that he had entered the Eerie World, he didn’t want to die meaninglessly.

After all, the rewards in this world were too tempting to ignore.

A navigation-like guide appeared in front of Li Ran, courtesy of his golden finger.

The atmosphere in the car was eerie and awkward. As a first-time father, Li Ran had no clue how to talk to his “son.”

Then suddenly, Li Ziyang pulled out a glass jar from his backpack—about 80cm tall and 30cm wide, filled with a cloudy, murky liquid.

“Dad, the teacher gave you this nutritional supplement. But it’s really weird. I don’t know what it is. Can you explain it to me?”

Li Ziyang was a curious and eager learner. His eyes were pure, like flawless black gems—completely devoid of whites.

Li Ran stared into the rearview mirror, struggling to keep a smile on his face, hiding every trace of fear.

Sweat began to soak the steering wheel under his grip.

Inside that jar his lovely son was holding… was a shriveled, grotesque monster fetus!

Li Ran’s scalp went numb.

“Dad… you don’t not know… do you?”

Li Ziyang’s expression fell. His pale little face slowly split open.

Li Ran forced a fatherly smile as a million curses screamed silently in his heart.

If I can’t give him a proper answer, he’s going to eat me alive!

But what the hell kind of supplement looked like this?

Monster Wine for Forgotten Children?

Toddler Extract Wellness Juice?

The boy’s head split open like a blood-red pomegranate, and two ghostly hands entwined like a flower emerged from his neck…

[Tip: In his heart, Dad is an all-powerful superhero. He believes whatever Dad says.]

The golden finger gave a tip. Li Ran read it, half-understanding.

What do you mean, he believes whatever I say…?

The ghostly hands slowly opened, blooming like a blood-colored flower, descending toward Li Ran’s head.

Just as his head was about to be swallowed—

Li Ran shouted, “O-of course your dad knows!”

Gripping the steering wheel, chest out, trying to appear calm, he declared:

“Newborns have a special valve in their throats. When immersed in water, this valve closes their airway, so they don’t choke. Babies like that are called ‘Little Valve Babies.’”

“Little Valve Babies?”

His son repeated the term with suspicion.

Li Ran, unfazed, said, “The liquid they’re soaked in gives people magical powers if you drink it.”

“Really?”

The boy’s split-open face suddenly folded shut like a bashful flower. He returned to normal, and immediately tried to open the jar.

“Son! That’s for adults!” Li Ran quickly stopped him.

Who knew what that monster fetus would do if released?

“Oh, right! I can’t drink it. The teacher gave it to Dad,” Ziyang said innocently, tucking the jar back into his backpack.

“Why did the teacher give it to me?”

“She said it was a gesture of goodwill.”

“…”

“Hah. Your teacher sure gives… ‘special’ gifts.”

Seeing his son return to normal, Li Ran breathed a huge sigh of relief.

Damn, he barely got through that one.

He almost convinced himself with that nonsense.

Kids will believe anything. Thank god.

But now he had to think about something worse—how was he supposed to face his wife?

If the son was this terrifying… wouldn’t the wife be even worse?

Li Ran didn’t even want to imagine it. All he wanted now was to get his “son” safely back home.

Under the guidance of his golden finger, he smoothly arrived at his destination.

Happy Community, Building 1, Apartment 1802.

Standing at the front door’s keypad lock, Li Ran had a clever idea.

“Son, why don’t you open the door? Hand me your backpack.”

Ziyang obediently said “Mm,” and reached out to press the numbers one by one.

Li Ran memorized the code to his “home.”

As the door opened, a gust of cold wind blew in his face.

Li Ran handed back the backpack with a smile, “Son, I left something in the car. I’ll go get it.”
