Chapter 18

The benefits of faster reactions were difficult to notice in everyday life.

Basically, his phone was less likely to fall to the ground, and he was no longer hit on the head by basketballs when passing the basketball court...

But all of this was contingent on the brain having time to issue commands. For example, if a basketball suddenly flew toward him and left him dumbfounded, his hands wouldn't be able to independently help block it.

For Lin Nan, the greatest benefit was naturally that he could finally find his old feeling when playing games.

For several consecutive days, he had been like a fish in water during ranked matches, smoothly winning ten games in a row. In these ten games, Lin Nan initially used support champions that didn't require much reaction time, but after ten consecutive wins, he started playing flashy champions like Yasuo and Riven, resulting in miserable losses.

Although his hand-eye coordination was indeed faster than before, the problem was that he didn't know the techniques for playing these champions, and hadn't even touched such champions for years.

After yet another game ended, Chen Yao sincerely exclaimed, "Lin Nan, you're finally not dragging me down."

"Not bad, not bad," Lin Nan feigned modesty, "My support skills are probably just the best in the whole school, right?"

Tu Junhui stretched lazily, quit the game, and began looking for adult games online. Xiong Da directly lowered his head and started playing mobile games. Along with Dong An who was in their dorm, this ranked match was their first five-person team practice before registration, to see if the team had any chance of winning the championship.

Excitingly, they easily won against a team composed of Diamond tier players.

It was now the first weekend after the start of the semester.

To be honest, Lin Nan hadn't learned anything in his studies this week... He just daydreamed in class and played games after class. His life wasn't much different from those idle college students – slacking off normally, cramming before finals, just hoping to get a passing grade of sixty.

There was one studious person in the dorm, Xiong Da. Although he was always on his phone during class, he could multitask, taking notes while playing mobile games. Everyone in the dorm relied on this skill of his to pass last semester's finals. Only Tu Junhui's grades weren't recorded, reportedly because he forgot to write his name, and he needed to register for a makeup exam in two weeks.

Because of this, they had mocked Tu Junhui in the dorm group chat for an entire summer, and screenshots of his grades were uploaded to the group album, becoming one of the "martyrs' walls."

"Not playing anymore? Then I'll return the computer," Lin Nan said with a hint of regret upon seeing Xiong Da and Tu Junhui starting to do their own things.

"You didn't use to be this addicted to gaming, did you?" Chen Yao looked up at him. "We've been playing all morning, aren't you hungry?"

"I was just getting in the groove," Lin Nan reluctantly closed the laptop and returned it to the neighboring dorm.

After coming back, Lin Nan had nothing to do. He sat idly in his spot for a while, his mind involuntarily recalling the scene outside the private room a few days ago.

He had never imagined himself to be such a bold person.

Embarrassment, shame, and a bit of excitement – all sorts of messy emotions surged toward his head at once, turning his brain into a boiling kettle in an instant. Redness quickly spread across his face, extending to his ears and neck.

But he quickly suppressed these emotions. From initially feeling uncomfortable around Chen Yao to now being able to quickly control his emotions, Lin Nan felt he had made great progress.

As for Chen Yao, although he had been kissed, he showed no strange behavior afterward, clearly not taking the drunken action to heart.

"By the way, Nan Nan, didn't you say you wanted to go running a few days ago?" Tu Junhui suddenly turned around and asked Lin Nan. "I haven't seen you go out these past few nights?"

"I just haven't had time," Lin Nan said, though he was simply too lazy to go.

Tu Junhui thought for a moment, then sighed deeply, saying with great hesitation, "How about we start going together tonight?"

"Why? Didn't you say you'd never diet again?"

He looked down at his big belly, and flatly denied, "No, nonsense, the thing Tu loves most in this life is exercise. Exercise makes me happy."

"That's fine, let's go at seven or eight tonight, run for half an hour?" Lin Nan looked disdainfully at Tu Junhui's fat figure and asked, "Can you run for half an hour?"

"Probably."

Just as they were talking, there was a sudden knock on the dorm door, followed by a cute girl's voice calling from outside: "Is anyone in? Collecting books."

Xiong Da, who was sitting by the door, looked up at the door, stood up and was about to open it, which made Tu Junhui, who was only wearing large boxer shorts, "lose his composure," and hurriedly stopped him.

"Wait, let me put on a T-shirt!"

After seeing him efficiently put on his clothes, Xiong Da went to open the door, only to find a pretty young woman outside.

"What is it?" he asked with his usual cold face.

"Do you have any books you don't want?"

There were indeed some.

Xiong Da scratched his head and turned to look at the stacks of books in the corner. These books had accumulated over the past two semesters, and he was just worrying about how to dispose of them.

Although books could be sold for money, the school didn't allow waste collectors in, and it wasn't practical to take so many books outside the school to sell.

"Come in."

Lin Nan curiously watched the door. When Xiong Da stepped aside to let the girl in, Lin Nan's heart immediately started beating faster uncontrollably. That familiar palpitation arose from his heart once again.

That face...

The girl happened to look at Lin Nan, their eyes met, and for some reason, Lin Nan felt a strong hatred for the girl.

He took a deep breath. These strange emotions that suddenly appeared had already become familiar to him, and he quickly suppressed them, but his hands still trembled involuntarily.

"You don't want all these books, right? They're piled up making a mess, might as well give them all to them."

Everyone agreed, and the girl smilingly thanked them, then went alone to that dusty corner. Not minding the dirt, she moved the books stack by stack to the door.

Chen Yao hadn't paid much attention to this girl at first, just thinking she looked familiar, probably someone he had seen in some large class. But when he casually turned his head toward Lin Nan, he found his face was flushed red.

He moved closer, leaning against Lin Nan's wardrobe door, and asked gossipily, "Is this the girl you fell in love with at first sight on the sports field?"

"This is definitely not love at first sight, okay?" With someone diverting his attention, Lin Nan immediately felt more comfortable. The pressure that girl gave him was too strong.

Last time he was almost fooled by Chen Yao, but this time Lin Nan could be certain this was impossible.

"Then what is it?"

"This..." But Lin Nan didn't know how to explain, after all, he didn't understand why he reacted this way when seeing this girl.

By now, all the useless books had been moved out, but the girl didn't leave. Instead, she looked at Lin Nan with interest and said directly: "Meet me at the sports field tonight."

"???"

What the hell?
