Chapter 76: Flame Element
The entire classroom fell into dead silence.
A moment later, pairs of eyes stared at the white-haired girl on the platform as if they were looking at some kind of monster.
It was obvious that the surrounding fiery red light had been released by Erika. Not only could she elementalize with ease, but she could also release such terrifying power.
Bazel, the first student to succeed earlier, stared at Erika in shock, his mouth wide open, as if he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
After all, out of so many freshmen, he had been the only one to successfully elementalize. It was one thing for Isana, the Duke of Daylight’s daughter, but what about Erika?
She was clearly just a Bronze-ranked freshman.
“Are my eyes playing tricks on me?”
“Uhh… even if they were, you can still feel it, right? Why does Erika have such overwhelming power…”
“Gods, this aura is almost on par with some of the teachers! Is she really Bronze-ranked?”
Not only Bazel, but other freshmen who had never seen Erika before were also staring at her in shock.
No one could believe what they were witnessing.
In contrast, Isana wasn’t surprised like the others. Instead, her eyes curved happily into crescents. She showed her white teeth and raised her little hand in celebration.
“Yay! Erika really is the best!”
Following Isana’s cheers, the others started to realize that Erika was close to Isana—maybe she had some connection to the Duke of Daylight, which made them start thinking.
Erika swept her indifferent gaze over the crowd, her lips twitching as her face showed a look of nonchalance.
In truth, ever since she got the Dragon Core Crystal, elementalization had been effortless for her. She didn’t even need to chant—just releasing magic power was enough.
And this time, Erika had gained a lot from the lesson.
For ordinary people, magic came from mental power and required chanting to convert.
But for Dragons, it was different—their magic came from their blood!
Every time she released magic, Erika could feel her blood surging. Daphne’s class had taught her a lot about control.
Of course, Isana had clearly known elementalization from the start. After all, she had already used magic before, when they faced the Ratman, Jesse.
Being suddenly watched by so many people, Erika felt a bit uncomfortable. Had she gone overboard?
“Clap clap…”
As she took the Magic Apprentice Badge and was about to step off the platform, a crisp sound rang out beside her.
It was Daphne, still smiling, her fair and slender hands applauding Erika.
With her claps, the freshmen below finally snapped out of it and began cheering for Erika.
“Miss Erika is amazing!”
“She’s definitely a role model for us freshmen!”
…
The awkward praise made Erika feel even more uncomfortable. She rubbed her nose with her small hand, nodded slightly toward Daphne, and was about to return to her seat.
“Wait, Erika.”
Daphne called out to her, “This is your badge. Your performance surprised me. Without a doubt, you’re the most outstanding freshman I’ve ever taught.
Could you share some of your insights with everyone?”
“Yeah! Miss Erika, say a few words!”
“Ah~ I really want to hear her voice. I’ve never heard this beautiful girl speak before.”
“Idiot, Teacher Daphne is here to teach, not for you to fawn over her voice.”
…
The students were all riled up again. Erika had undoubtedly become the most dazzling girl in the room.
“Uhh…”
Erika hesitated slightly—she really didn’t know how to share her “insights.” What was she supposed to say?
“I have a Dragon Core Crystal, and elementalization is child’s play”?
After a pause, Erika raised her hand and made some vague gestures in the air. Her soft voice came out like a crisp chime.
“Umm… like this, and this, and then like this. It’s kind of like that…”
“???”
…
Everyone fell silent at Erika’s explanation.
Their eyes shrank to the size of soybeans, awkwardly staring at the white-haired girl in front of them.
“Pfft… hahaha…”
Hearing Erika’s description, Isana burst into laughter.
The next second, the students started talking again.
“Did you… understand what she meant?”
“Nope. I just thought she looked so cute…”
“Yeah, her voice is so lovely, my ears are melting.”
…
What the hell were these idiots talking about!?
Hearing this nonsense, Erika couldn’t help but scowl.
Forget it. Sharing insights wasn’t her thing, and she wasn’t a teacher—no need!
“Let me explain instead.”
Seeing Erika’s gestures, even Daphne looked a bit helpless. She shook her head and said to the class, “As I said earlier, each person’s magic typically has one attribute, usually inherited.
Clearly, Erika grasped elementalization easily. In my view, her control over aura was not just clever—but practiced.
I think Erika had already practiced elementalization before this compulsory class. Otherwise, she couldn’t have done it so effortlessly.”
“Ah… Teacher Daphne is right. Someone did teach me before, hehe…”
Scratching her head awkwardly, Erika quickly admitted it to avoid unnecessary trouble.
“Who was it?”
Daphne blinked. “Your elemental attribute is fire—fire is the most destructive of all elements.”
Upon hearing that, the students started discussing again.
“I remember… one of the great figures of the Aarlan Empire used fire elemental magic too…”
“Duh, it’s the Duke of Night! One of the Twin Stars of the Empire—his magic is crimson flame, said to light up the night sky!”
“I think the Duke of Night had an only daughter.”
“I know that too, but that’s impossible. Don’t forget the disaster a year ago—his daughter died in it…”
“Stop overthinking. Erika’s not the only one who can use fire elementalization. Even if she’s gifted, that doesn’t mean she’s connected to the Duke of Night.”
As the discussion grew louder, everyone turned suspicious eyes toward Erika.
What they wanted to know now wasn’t how to elementalize—but who taught Erika such powerful magic.
As for Erika—she was utterly dumbfounded…
What were they even talking about? The Duke of Night? She didn’t even know him!
Her magic flame came from the Dragon Core Crystal—what did these people know!?
Plagued by these speculations, Erika furrowed her brows.
She knew—the Duke of Night’s daughter was that girl who looked just like her, named Viviana.
But she had hatched from a dragon egg—could there really be a connection? How could that be!
