Chapter 25: The Top Inner Sect Disciple? Heading to the Great Qian Dynasty
At the foot of the Heavenly Evil Sect mountain.
Two figures, one black and one white, left the sect’s grand formation.
They boarded a cross-domain Immortal Boat, heading toward the destination of their mission.
“Why aren’t we disembarking at the stop closest to the Great Qian Dynasty?”
Gu Fan glanced at the youth and explained,
“For safety, of course! Right now, who knows how many people want to kill me? No telling how many are lying in wait at the official disembarkation point. By getting off early, we can kill them off gradually.”
Seeing the white-clothed youth nod thoughtfully, Gu Fan sighed.
After a brief introduction earlier, Gu Fan had already gained a basic understanding of his companion on this journey.
The white-robed youth’s name was Lin Yi, a disciple of Elder Zhu Yang.
He was the strongest among the inner sect disciples—rumor had it he had even defeated a true disciple before!
Gu Fan had tested him a bit and found his strength indeed formidable. If he wanted to kill Lin Yi, he would need to exert at least eighty percent of his full strength.
Moreover, Lin Yi’s personality was somewhat dull—he wasn’t skilled in social dealings and was rather blunt.
Fortunately, he was simple-minded and obedient.
Gu Fan didn’t have to worry too much.
After listening to Gu Fan’s explanation, Lin Yi was silent for a moment before asking,
“You mean someone leaked the information?”
Gu Fan was a little surprised.
It seemed this guy was just straightforward, not actually dumb.
“No matter how powerful a force is, there will always be a few bad apples. It’s normal for there to be spies from Righteous Path sects inside the Heavenly Evil Sect. It’s not hard to pass along my whereabouts.”
After speaking, Gu Fan looked at Lin Yi curiously.
“I heard you’re the top inner sect disciple. I imagine you don’t lack cultivation resources or background. I’m quite curious—what are you aiming for by taking on this mission?”
Lin Yi scratched his head somewhat embarrassedly.
“I cultivate a certain technique that requires killing more people. In the inner sect, no one is willing to spar with me anymore. Some of the weaker true disciples have also refused my challenges, and I can’t go all out against the strong ones.”
Gu Fan nearly thought he had misheard.
Did he really say that so bluntly?
So you were deliberately going all out in sparring matches just to kill people?
Gu Fan silently cursed in his heart—this was truly ruthless.
“So Master had me follow you down the mountain. He said there would surely be an endless stream of enemies around you, and I could pick the ones I could beat and take them down. If they’re too strong, I should quickly hide behind you.”
Gu Fan’s brow twitched, barely restraining the urge to draw his blade.
This guy really spoke too directly—just two sentences and Gu Fan already felt his blood pressure spike.
If Lin Yi weren’t Elder Zhu Yang’s disciple, he might have already been cut down.
“Also, Master told me to learn how to conduct myself properly from you. He said that rigidity leads to breaking, and sometimes a bit of smoothness is necessary.”
Hearing this, Gu Fan seemed to recall something, and immediately patted Lin Yi’s shoulder with a smiling face.
“Elder Zhu truly has foresight. Stick with me during this time—observe and learn well. It’ll benefit you for a lifetime.”
Lin Yi’s eyes lit up, and he cupped his fists.
“Then I’ll be relying on Brother Gu.”
“Hey, it’s no big deal. Just call me Gu Fan.”
“Many thanks, Brother Gu Fan…”
…
The speed of the cross-domain Immortal Boat was incredibly fast.
In just a single day, the two had arrived at the eastern border of the Heavenly Evil Sect. Not far ahead was the territory of the Great Qian Dynasty.
Gu Fan called out to Lin Yi and directly disembarked.
“This place isn’t far from the Great Qian Dynasty. Let’s rest here for the night and head toward the dynasty tomorrow!”
Lin Yi nodded in agreement.
The two entered a small city and found an inn to stay in.
They booked two superior rooms. Gu Fan glanced at Lin Yi.
Lin Yi’s body tensed as he immediately understood.
“How much is it?”
“One tael of silver for the two rooms, dear customer.”
He paid swiftly.
Lin Yi looked again at Gu Fan, and only after seeing the approval in his eyes did he finally let out a breath of relief.
This was part of the special training Gu Fan had been giving him on the Immortal Boat—called “observing expressions and reading intentions.”
Lin Yi had been utterly amazed when he first encountered it!
Inwardly, he exclaimed how Brother Gu truly understood the art of dealing with people.
To think one could understand another’s thoughts just through their gaze!
Thus, throughout the day, Lin Yi had been undergoing special training.
As soon as Gu Fan gave a meaningful glance, it was Lin Yi’s job to interpret it.
Whether it was fetching water to wash his feet, or going out to buy food—he had to handle it all.
And just now, Lin Yi’s interpretation of Gu Fan’s glance was spot on!
That look was hinting at him to pay!
“Not bad, not bad. Lin Yi, you truly are a prodigy. It won’t be long before you can engage in normal, friendly interactions with your fellow disciples!”
Gu Fan solemnly patted Lin Yi on the shoulder, a look of gratification on his face.
With that, he had his meal ticket for the journey secured…
But Lin Yi was overjoyed by those words.
Though he was extremely powerful within the sect, his biggest problem was that no one was willing to get close to him.
Granted, he had killed quite a few people, but only those with whom he had conflicts.
Take, for instance, when his master finally accepted a young junior sister with decent aptitude.
In the end, she was scared off by his reclusive nature and left to become another's disciple.
Thinking of that, Lin Yi felt a pang of sorrow.
But now things were different.
With Gu Fan’s hands-on guidance,
Building good relationships didn’t seem that difficult after all!
“All thanks to your teachings, Brother Gu!”
“It’s nothing. Go get some rest in your room. We’ll continue on our journey tomorrow.”
With that, Gu Fan waved and entered his own room.
That night.
Gu Fan lay in bed, contemplating the path ahead.
Whether it was the zombie world or the cultivation world’s future,
He needed to make proper plans and preparations.
Both worlds, in essence, operated on the same principle: power reigned supreme!
Only by continuously growing stronger could he ensure that his interests wouldn’t be infringed upon!
Suddenly!
Just as Gu Fan was deep in thought, several waves of spiritual energy surged around him!
No time to think—Gu Fan shot up like a coiled dragon.
At the same moment, the window shattered as five sword beams shot into the room!
Gu Fan’s eyes turned cold and emotionless.
A Soul Puppet instantly appeared before him, roaring as it threw out a series of punches, dispersing the sword beams.
“It really is him! The new demonic prodigy, Gu Fan!”
“No mistake—being able to refine such a high-quality Soul Puppet at the Spirit Sea Realm, only the one who massacred an entire city’s populace—Gu Fan—could do it!”
“Kill this monster! We disciples of the Shangqing Sect will avenge the people of Luoyang City today!”
Gu Fan frowned deeply.
They had arrived even faster than he’d anticipated!
And even though he’d disembarked early, they still managed to find him…
“Brother Gu! I’m here to help you!”
Lin Yi, clad in white, exuded a steady stream of grayish demonic aura.
With a single swing of his longsword, he forced the attackers to retreat!
“Six Fiend Sword Style! That’s Lin Yi of the Heavenly Evil Sect!”
The five who had come to kill Gu Fan cried out in shock, then turned and fled from the building without hesitation.
Clearly, they felt they had no chance against Gu Fan and Lin Yi together.
Gu Fan sneered coldly and said,
“Lin Yi, weren’t you curious about my strength? How about we compete now—five enemies, let’s see who kills more!”
Lin Yi’s eyes lit up.
“Excellent idea!”
The two shot out like eagles toward the fleeing enemies.
Gu Fan’s physical strength erupted to the limit. Every step he took left a crater in the ground!
His bones crackled like popping beans.
In a few strides, he appeared behind one of the enemies.
“Still running? Freeze for me!”
Gu Fan grabbed a tree branch from the roadside, and after infusing it with demonic energy, hurled it.
A scream rang out.
One figure was pinned to the ground by the branch now engulfed in black flames, unable to move.
Without slowing down, Gu Fan closed in on another enemy, smashing their legs with a palm strike.
Then, with a punch through the air, he blew apart half of a third person’s body.
Just as he was about to strike down a fourth, a gray light flashed through the air.
A head soared high into the air, then was caught by Lin Yi.
“I lost! Brother Gu truly is powerful!”
Gu Fan smiled modestly and replied,
“You’re not bad either. Come on, let’s head back to the inn first.”
…
