Chapter 153

“Second Miss is actually really gentle. From childhood until now, most of the care for the Young Miss was handled by her.”

Standing below the ladder, Qin Xin couldn’t help but explain to Su Yun, as if she wanted her to understand just how important this elder sister was to her younger sister.

“The Young Miss parents were rarely home, and the Eldest Miss was always busy with her studies and had no energy or time to spare. Back then, Second Miss was like a mother to the Young Miss, sleeping with her in her arms every night.”

“I see…” Su Yun climbed down the ladder, feeling even more guilty.

“Don’t be sad, sister. After all, that kind of care can’t last a lifetime. The Young Miss needs to grow up eventually, and Second Miss should find her own happiness too.”

“Oh…” Su Yun nodded dully, not quite understanding.

If she hadn’t shown up, couldn’t Qin Xue have just continued caring for Qin Yuanyuan for the rest of her life?

Qin Xin noticed the confusion on Su Yun’s face and sighed inwardly.

“Sister, I’ve lived with Second Miss for so many years. One night, I couldn’t sleep and accidentally discovered a secret of hers. I’ll only tell you.”

“Mm?”

“The truth is, Second Miss is very fragile inside. She only puts on a strong front in front of her little sister. Do you understand, little sister?”

“Oh… I do,” Su Yun said with a dazed nod.

Her clear eyes held a touch of innocence that made Qin Xin speechless.

Was she… stupid? But kind of… adorable?

“Second Miss needs someone to take care of her, got it?” Qin Xin emphasized again.

“Mm, got it.” She used to have you five maids to take care of her. Now it’s my turn.

Su Yun nodded hard and firm.

“Yeah… more or less.”

Qin Xin sighed again, letting it go.

Actually, going out to “play” with this little white-haired girl wasn’t her young lady’s order—it was Sister Xuan’s idea.

They were testing her. Testing whether or not this girl really liked the young lady.

If she didn’t, they would’ve had to tie her up and bring her in for questioning.

Thankfully, the result was a good one.

From here on out, it was up to these two little ones to work it out.

Swish. Just then, the window reopened and Qin Xue poked her head out from her room.

“Xiaoyun, I’m ready.”

“Mm.”

Seeing Qin Xue climbing out again, Su Yun rushed to the ladder to hold it steady.

Soon, Qin Xue was back by her side.

Though only an afternoon had passed, it felt like they hadn’t seen each other in ages. Su Yun’s joy showed clearly on her face.

Qin Xue felt the same. Compared to before, her eyes were now tinged slightly red.

“So happy to see me, huh?” She glanced down at the beaming girl beside her and laughed.

Su Yun’s emotions were written all over her face.

What could she say? Right now, Su Yun looked at her like a puppy seeing its favorite bone—tail wagging and everything.

“Mm… are we going home now?”

Su Yun didn’t deny it.

With her little thoughts bubbling up, she quietly inched closer to Qin Xue’s side.

“Ugh!”

Suddenly, a large, soft sensation pressed against her cheek.

Qin Xue had wrapped her arm around Su Yun’s.

“Alright, Qin Xin, could you please drive us home now?”

“Of course.”

The ride home was quiet.

All three of them tacitly agreed not to speak.

Su Yun wanted to ask about what happened earlier, but seeing how Qin Xue remained silent, she felt too awkward to bring it up.

After about twenty minutes, the familiar white building finally appeared in the distance.

“Miss, we’ve arrived.”

“Okay, you can head back.”

Qin Xue calmly stepped out of the car.

But just as she was about to head upstairs, she noticed Su Yun hadn’t followed.

She turned back in confusion, only to find her still rummaging around inside the car.

“Xiaoyun?”

Qin Xue walked back to the car—and was greeted with a rather alluring view.

Su Yun was bent over in the back seat, searching for something.

And that pose…

Qin Xue suddenly recalled something amusing, and with a mischievous glint in her eyes, she slipped back into the car.

Sneaking behind Su Yun, she reached out and grabbed her gently swaying waist.

“Ah!” Su Yun jolted in shock from the sudden touch.

Realizing it was Qin Xue, she continued reaching for the item.

But Qin Xue wasn’t planning to let her go so easily. She leaned in even closer, pressing up until their thighs touched, then gave a teasing push…

“Meow! Sister Xue, what are you doing…?” Su Yun collapsed forward in surprise.

She turned to glare at Qin Xue, her tone full of complaint—but that soft voice only fueled Qin Xue’s playful mood.

“Ah, don’t.”

“Hey—let me go! I’m still getting something!”

And just like that, the little white kitten flared up.

Sitting in the front seat, Qin Xin glanced at the rearview mirror, her face full of a satisfied auntie-like smile.

She hadn’t expected her young lady to be this smooth.

Personally, she preferred this kind of thing—the kind you couldn’t see, but felt thrilling.

Too bad Sister Xuan was way too proper. She never got the chance.

By the time Su Yun got upstairs, it was already 5:30 p.m., and the sky outside had turned dusky.

Most of the day had slipped away.

She had bought four eggplants, two bottles of shampoo, and arranged for a refrigerator to be delivered tomorrow.

After putting everything away in the bathroom and kitchen, she collapsed onto the bed with a tired sigh.

All afternoon, she had been dragged around by Qin Xin in crowded places, then rushed back once Qin Xue was ready.

She hadn’t stopped for a second.

Clearly, as a vampire, she was supposed to have more stamina than a human. But at this point, she was gasping like she’d run a marathon.

Still, as long as Sister Xue was okay…

“Xiaoyun, are you going to sleep?”

Qin Xue sat on the edge, looking excitedly at the motionless, energy-drained girl on the bed.

“Sorry… just a little tired… If you can, wake me up in an hour so I can make dinner.”

Su Yun pulled off her long-sleeved shirt and pants, leaving them at the foot of the bed, then crawled under the blankets.

Before Qin Xue could even respond, the room was silent.

Looks like Xiaoyun really had worn herself out.

Qin Xue got up, closed the curtains, and turned off the lights. Then, she took off her oversized pink coat and gently draped it over Su Yun.

She was tired too.

“Ugh.” Feeling the softness pressing against her back, Su Yun squirmed uncomfortably. But soon, arms tightened around her.

She was being hugged from behind.

Though she knew exactly what it was, Su Yun had no strength left to protest.

And just like that, the two exhausted girls fell asleep together, tightly embraced.

In the dark room, several boxes of medicine rested quietly on the bedside table.

“Will you be my sister?”

“I couldn’t survive without your help, Big Sister.”

“Leave it to me!”

“I’ve grown up now. This time… it’s my turn to take care of you!”

That was a conversation spoken in the warmth of a sibling embrace.

Though their eyes were red, there was not a trace of sadness in their voices.
