The time had come—it was already afternoon. They had agreed to meet at the school’s south gate.
Zhang Deyi adjusted his outfit carefully. This was probably the best he had ever looked, even better than when he’d been chasing after Chen Tingting. Both his appearance and his spirit were in top form.
“What if it’s not Su Yun who shows up?” Liu Fei stood beside him, clearly worried.
“Who else could it be?” Zhang Deyi ran a hand through his hair, and the flowing style did indeed give him a somewhat dashing look, “Oh right, your sister-in-law will be here too. Remember to greet her and Su Yun properly.”
He reminded Liu Fei purposefully.
“Sister-in-law? Oh, right.” Liu Fei paused for a moment before realizing—he was talking about Su Yun’s campus belle girlfriend.
He didn’t feel jealous. After all, he had a girlfriend now too, thanks in large part to Su Yun’s guidance. Though he had to admit, his girlfriend didn’t have the long legs or curvy figure like the campus belle. Even when wearing black stockings, the comparison just wasn’t close.
Still, having a girlfriend who understood him, was willing to set aside appearances, and wear black stockings just to make him happy—that already beat out most people.
The two of them waited another five minutes at the gate when two graceful figures finally appeared in the distance.
“Su Yun’s here.” Zhang Deyi nudged Liu Fei with his elbow.
“Ah? Where—oh…”
Their gazes locked on the approaching pair.
Liu Fei first observed Su Yun. Her figure didn’t seem much different from when they’d last seen her at the sports event. Tension gripped him again, and he started wondering how he could tell whether or not this was really Su Yun.
But there was no mistaking it. Su Yun was walking hand-in-hand with Qin Xue. At this moment, she looked like a suspicious person—wearing a hat, a mask, and even a pair of sunglasses to obscure her face.
“Ahem.” Qin Xue stepped forward and coughed lightly, casting a cold glance at the two young men before her.
She had already noticed while walking over—they had been staring at her Xiaoyun the entire time.
Zhang Deyi immediately felt a chill run through his body, as if a block of ice had dropped into his crotch.
Though he was about the same height as Qin Xue, her aura gave off a far more overwhelming pressure.
“Sister-in-law, nice to meet you. Su Yun, thank you for taking care of us. This is a little gift from Liu Fei and me,” he said respectfully, bowing slightly to ease the tension.
“It’s nothing, I just dropped off some advise. I should be the one thanking you…” Su Yun quickly bowed in return.
But the moment she bent down, she felt her hat loosen.
Crap!
Su Yun reacted quickly, pressing a hand to her hat. If she’d been even a second slower, it would have flown right off her head.
“No no, Su Yun, you’ve done so much for me already. Here—take this.” Zhang Deyi, speaking with even more sincerity, bent even lower. He was practically bowing at a ninety-degree angle as he presented the gift.
To passing students, the scene probably looked like someone was desperately apologizing to a teacher.
But only Zhang Deyi knew—he had lowered his head to sneak a look at Su Yun’s shoes.
And just as he thought—the black shoes might’ve looked like a guy’s at first glance, but compared to his own size 45 feet, hers were clearly much smaller. They gave off this delicate, clingy sort of vibe.
With feet that size… he figured he could probably pick up both shoes with one hand.
Zhang Deyi zoned out for a moment as he stared.
Now that he thought about it—how big were Su Yun’s feet, anyway? He wasn’t sure. But he did remember Su Yun being pretty slender.
“Thank you… Now please, stand up already.” Su Yun accepted the gift.
“Su Yun! Sister-in-law! Have you eaten yet? If not, Zhang Deyi is buying!” Liu Fei quickly chimed in, seeing that Zhang Deyi was still staring intently. He pushed down his nervousness and tried to stall.
Also, he noticed—Su Yun’s voice still hadn’t recovered.
Soon, Liu Fei’s gaze locked onto the black hat.
“Baby, what do you think?”
At that moment, Qin Xue’s frosty expression began to melt. She gently wrapped her arm around Su Yun’s, a teasing smile playing at her lips.
All those “sister-in-law” greetings had her grinning from ear to ear.
“We’ve already eaten, but thank you both for the kind thought.” Su Yun politely declined.
“Then we wish you good health and a happy life, Su Yun.” Zhang Deyi straightened up with a cheerful smile. He didn’t linger, but gave off a bright, sunshine-boy vibe.
“Thank you…” Su Yun replied calmly, but inside, she just wanted to run away.
It was rare to see Qin Xue chat so comfortably with boys. She didn’t know why, but it meant she had more freedom to talk to Zhang Deyi.
But then… Liu Fei was here too. And that guy had already suspected she was a girl before. No way she could keep chatting now.
“You look a lot better than when we saw you at the hospital. Handsome, even.”
“Good luck on your finals. I hope you both do well,” Su Yun added sincerely, then quickly grabbed Qin Xue’s hand and made her escape.
Zhang Deyi didn’t try to stop them.
Liu Fei, on the other hand, froze. He had been planning to “accidentally” knock off her hat.
“Why didn’t you say more?” he asked, bumping Zhang Deyi on the shoulder.
He was surprised. Zhang Deyi had always been more experienced with people—he shouldn’t have gone quiet just because the campus belle was there.
“You idiot. What’s there to say?”
“She’s wearing a mask anyway. Let’s just follow them. Once she takes it off, we’ll know for sure,” Zhang Deyi said, already heading in the direction Su Yun had gone. Liu Fei had no choice but to tag along.
After learning the truth, Zhang Deyi had paid closer attention. He noticed Su Yun had clearly slimmed down.
It was almost certain.
But not quite.
Why was the campus belle helping Su Yun hide her identity?
Where did the original Su Yun go?
That uncertainty lingered in Zhang Deyi’s heart.
If this really was the person he thought it was…
Then they just said he looked handsome.
As they walked, a smile crept onto Zhang Deyi’s face.
“Ugh…” Liu Fei groaned. Something was definitely wrong with this guy.
Had he been bewitched by the school beauty?
They followed them all the way to the snack street. From a distance, they never saw Su Yun take off her mask or sunglasses. Zhang Deyi, who had been about to give up, finally got his chance when she turned a corner.
At that moment, Su Yun lifted her hand and took off both her mask and sunglasses.
“Now’s our chance!”
Zhang Deyi and Liu Fei sped up instinctively.
“Liu Fei? Why are you here?”
“Eh?”
“Baby.” A familiar voice rang out from behind Liu Fei. He turned and saw a few girls, one of whom was his girlfriend.
His nerves vanished in an instant, replaced by joy.
He completely forgot about Su Yun and rushed over to her.
“?”
Zhang Deyi turned too.
“Hello, sister-in-law,” he greeted politely, as usual.
“Hey babe, this is Zhang Deyi—the roommate I told you about, from when I was in the hospital.”
“Nice to meet you.”
And so, Zhang Deyi was roped into small talk.
As soon as he could excuse himself, he rushed toward the corner.
The alley was about ten meters long. Beyond it stood several residential buildings.
But by now, Su Yun was already gone.
…
…
“Xiaoyun, remember to eat lots of supplements and take care of your body~”
“If it ever gets to be too much, you have to tell me.”
Qin Xue was back at the apartment, excitedly clinging to Su Yun as she rummaged through her wardrobe.
“I told Xuanxuan to pack my black stockings. How else am I supposed to seduce my Xiaoyun?”
