Chapter 14

Qin Xue held her little sister tightly and glanced at Su Yun, who stood beside them absentmindedly.

She had a question in her mind now.

Why was it, when she transferred money to her yesterday, the name that showed on the recipient's verification was Yun?

Yun was correct, but it was just two characters.

Qin Xue had checked Class 2 before and couldn’t find anyone named Su Xiaoyun. There was only one person whose name also included the character Yun.

And it was a guy.

Su Yun?

Qin Xue furrowed her brows, her eyes lingering on this little white rabbit in front of her.

Her impression of Su Yun was that she liked to bottle everything up inside and rarely spoke.

But they had only just gotten to know each other recently. That was normal. There’d be time later.

“Um… are we not going?” Su Yun noticed Qin Xue looking at her and shyly lowered her head.

“Waiting for the car.”

“The bus stop’s on the other side though…”

“Waiting for my family’s car.”

“Oh, got it.”

Even after that, Qin Xue continued looking at Su Yun, trying to read something off her face, but unfortunately, there was nothing to see.

What exactly are you hiding, Xiaoyun?

“Vroom…” Just then, the distant sound of an engine roaring reached them from the road.

The noisy growl got closer and closer until a car stopped right in front of them.

Su Yun looked at it and thought the car looked pretty cool.

Must be really expensive—the kind she couldn’t afford even if she sold herself…

The driver’s door opened, and down stepped a woman dressed entirely in black and white maid attire, her long legs wrapped in black stockings.

Her figure and looks could outshine 95% of the girls currently studying at Summer End University.

Su Yun blinked several times to confirm she wasn’t seeing things.

Holy crap, isn’t this the same woman who made me balance the apple yesterday? She can drive too?

“Master, please get in.” The maid politely opened the back door and gestured toward Qin Xue with elegance and grace.

Qin Xue took Qin Yuanyuan’s hand and got into the car.

“Uh…” Su Yun was just about to follow when she noticed the maid by the door was staring daggers at her.

The kind of stare that felt like a teacher monitoring a student doing homework, ready to punish at the first mistake.

Great, even outside I'm still doing this.

Su Yun felt bitter but didn’t dare complain. She glanced at Qin Xue in the car with the corner of her eye.

For the sake of the paycheck… let’s go all in.

Qin Xue, sitting inside the car, looked at Su Yun outside and found it strange.

Why’s she moving so slow?

After a moment, she finally remembered she’d arranged a maid training course for her.

And she had specifically emphasized one thing—she had to address her as “Master.”

Looking at the embarrassed Su Yun outside, Qin Xue felt an indescribable joy in her heart.

Su Yun got into the car and saw the grin on Qin Xue’s face. The corner of her mouth twitched.

But even though she’d gotten in, the head maid still didn’t let her off. She turned and shot another glare her way.

“...”

Uh-oh.

Su Yun instantly understood. Her posture changed, and next came the title, which she had practiced all night.

“Master, let’s go eat together.” Not knowing what else to say, she just tossed out a random line.

Facing Qin Xue, her smile was pure and sweet.

“Mm.” Qin Xue nodded, pleased with Su Yun’s performance.

Damn it…

You’re happy now, aren’t you, you cold and heartless person?

Before the car started, Qin Xue told the maid their lunch destination.

Even wearing black stockings didn’t affect the maid’s driving at all—the car moved smoothly the entire way.

......

Up until just now, Su Yun had assumed that with Qin Xue’s habit of casually spending six figures, they wouldn’t be eating at the school cafeteria. It was probably some high-end restaurant, where each dish cost hundreds or thousands.

But when they arrived at their destination, Su Yun was stunned.

Earlier while they were driving, they’d passed through a bustling area full of tall buildings. Su Yun had figured that must be the city center, and assumed they’d stop somewhere nearby.

But the car drove past all that and finally stopped in a place that looked like a small town—a so-called urban village.

And now the car had parked in front of a shop with a half-broken signboard.

It was noon, and the shop was nearly full, mostly with middle-aged men whose skin was yellowed. They wore work uniforms and had deep wrinkles on their foreheads.

There were lots of factories nearby, and the workers often came here for meals after their shifts.

“Miss, we’ve arrived.” The maid got out and opened the door for Qin Xue, just as elegantly as before.

Many of the people eating inside turned to look, surprised, but they quickly went back to their meals.

Su Yun stared, dumbfounded.

It wasn’t that she looked down on this kind of fast-food joint—on the contrary, she actually liked it.

During school holidays, her parents still had to work. With no time to cook lunch, her mom would buy ten-yuan boxed meals: one meat, two vegetables, and plenty to eat.

They tasted pretty good too, so she often asked her mom to buy from that shop.

She just couldn’t believe a villa-living young lady like Qin Xue would come here to eat.

“Not getting out?” Qin Xue urged from outside the car.

Qin Yuanyuan, seemingly very familiar with the place, had already run inside and started ordering food.

“Zoned out a bit, sorry.” Su Yun slowly snapped out of her shock.

Standing outside the car, she could clearly sense how out-of-place someone like Qin Xue looked here—beautiful and refined.

“…”

Qin Xue saw right through Su Yun’s thoughts.

She stepped up in front of her and saw the slightly confused look on her face.

This wasn’t the first time Qin Xue had brought a girl here.

After Su Yun refused her ten thousand last night and from the way she’d been acting these past few days, Qin Xue thought she’d be different from the other girls.

But now, standing outside hesitating to go in—she was acting just like all the others.

Still, this place really was Qin Xue’s favorite restaurant. She wasn’t trying to mess with anyone.

Looking at the still-stunned Su Yun in front of her, Qin Xue felt a tinge of disappointment.

“Why are you looking at me? Aren’t you going in?” Su Yun looked helplessly at Qin Xue blocking the way.

She wasn’t saying anything or moving—what was she doing?

“Mm, just looking.” Qin Xue came to her senses and turned to walk inside. She ordered stir-fried eggplant with pork.

Her favorite dish.

Su Yun also stood in front of the menu.

“Boss, got duck legs?”

“Yes, yes.” The boss was bald, with a towel hanging around his neck. He was flipping a wok non-stop—seemed like a hardworking guy.

Even though Su Yun couldn’t really taste anything now, the feeling of eating meat was still nice, and the duck leg had a lot of meat on it.

“You’re just getting a duck leg?” Qin Xue hadn’t expected that.

Soon, Su Yun’s duck leg arrived first. Qin Xue was still waiting for her dish.

Qin Xue’s gaze locked on Su Yun, watching for her next move.

Small bites, picking at it like she didn’t really want to eat, and in the end, she wouldn’t finish it. That’s how it’d go, right?

But in the next second, Su Yun just reached out and grabbed the duck leg from her bowl and started gnawing on it.

Her mouth opened wide, going straight for the meaty front part of the leg.

Because the leg was pretty big, bits of oil occasionally got on her face.

“?”

Qin Xue was stunned. She stared at Su Yun in disbelief.

“You don’t mind the grease?”

“Mm… there’s a sink outside to wash up. Besides, this is the best way to eat duck leg.”

Su Yun paused, suddenly realizing that she was a girl now. Maybe this didn’t look very ladylike.

So troublesome. Forget it—she’d just eat like this.

Good thing the maid was still in the car. Otherwise, this would’ve been game over for her.

“If you think my hands are dirty, I can use a napkin…”

“No need, go ahead.” Qin Xue just watched as Su Yun quickly finished off the whole duck leg.

“Boss, another duck leg please.”

Qin Xue watched as Su Yun ordered another one and devoured it again.

She realized she’d been wrong.

That school beauty ranking was just a small program she had someone make. Every now and then, she’d pick one of the high-ranking girls to approach.

Get their contact info, have a few meals together at the cafeteria, ask for some small favors and give them a few thousand yuan. When the time felt right, she’d invite them out—to this very place.

But those dolled-up “goddesses,” they’d be all smiles in the car, and then the moment they arrived—they’d start complaining.

Complaining about the shop, the stinky workers, the cheap food.

So in the end, Qin Xue never let any of them into her house, let alone become a maid. Su Yun was a special case—she skipped ahead in line.

But so far, Su Yun hasn't disappointed her.

This girl was like a rabbit—she saw food and just ate, not caring what anyone thought.

......

After finishing, Su Yun went to the outdoor sink and washed her hands for nearly thirty seconds. Since there was soap available, she cleaned pretty thoroughly.

Back in the car, even the maid nodded at her.

Washed hands for so long—must be very clean. Not bad.

Su Yun could only give an awkward smile. She didn’t dare say she’d just eaten the duck leg with her bare hands. Otherwise, she’d probably be stuck balancing apples all day.

“Drive. To Summer End Plaza Central.” As soon as Qin Xue got in, she told the maid their next destination.

“Sis, we’re not going home after lunch?” Qin Yuanyuan tugged at her sister’s sleeve.

From her point of view, her sister definitely wouldn’t like someone as uncultured as Su Yun.

That nasty girl who bit her—finally she gets to leave!

“We’re going to buy clothes for Sister Xiaoyun.” Qin Xue said, glancing at Su Yun.

The girl was still wearing that patched-up jacket from yesterday—loose threads on the hem, a hole in the collar sewn shut. She looked way too frugal.

“Ah?” Qin Yuanyuan stared at her sister in disbelief.
