That one gentle sentence from Qin Xue instantly made Su Yun drop her stubbornness.
“Mm, I got it…”
“That's more like it~”
Su Yun lay against the girl’s chest, pouting in protest but also filled with warmth. For the sake of round round softness, she decided not to argue anymore.
Her tense heart finally relaxed. She lay quietly in Qin Xue’s embrace and closed her eyes.
...
An hour and a half passed before the announcement finally called their number.
Su Yun slowly crawled out of Qin Xue’s arms.
“Sister Xiaoyun…”
Qin Xue looked half-asleep, clearly having dozed off.
“I’ll be right back.”
“Mm.”
Since Su Fulin was a man, he could only wait outside the consultation room. So it was up to Wang Haiyan to accompany Su Yun inside.
Though Wang Haiyan wasn’t as good with words as Su Fulin, he had already explained the situation to her earlier and told her what to say—and what not to say.
Once inside the room, Wang Haiyan closed the door tightly.
Seated at the desk was a kind-looking middle-aged female doctor, probably around the same age as Wang Haiyan.
“Men can’t register for gynecology. You’ve got the wrong department,” the doctor said, thinking they’d made a mistake.
But when she looked up and saw that both patients were female, she froze. She had assumed the registered patient was male.
“Wasn’t the appointment made under the name of a man? Someone named Su Yun?”
“Doctor, here’s the thing…” Wang Haiyan quickly began explaining the situation and gestured for Su Yun to sit down.
The doctor, seemingly experienced with unusual cases, stopped questioning them after a few words.
She had dealt with similar situations before—people assigned male at birth later discovering they had a uterus or XX chromosomes.
But this case was different. Su Yun had always been known as a girl. It was just that no one had paid attention to the details until now, and now they needed to confirm her gender to update her identification records.
Luckily, the machine in front of the doctor could handle that examination.
“Have you ever done it before? You’re quite pretty. I assume you’ve had a boyfriend?” the doctor asked, pulling on a pair of gloves.
“Huh? Boyfriend???”
“You know, with your boyfriend… if something went in, that counts as broken.”
“Huh??” Su Yun was stunned by how direct the doctor was and took a few seconds to process her words.
She’d done things like that before, but never anything… penetrating. That shouldn't count, right?
“I’ve never had a boyfriend.”
“Mm. Lie down.”
...
Once the examination began, Wang Haiyan stepped outside. Su Yun lay on the bed and lifted her shirt.
The middle-aged doctor applied some gel and began running the instrument across her body.
It tickled a bit… and was incredibly embarrassing.
“Alright, now pull your pants down.”
“Eh…”
Su Yun glanced around to confirm there were no cameras, then looked at the woman in front of her who was old enough to be her mother.
...
A few minutes later, after what felt like an excruciating and humiliating experience, the printer outside finally began spitting out the report.
Wang Haiyan brought the results back in. Su Yun had already gotten dressed and was sitting quietly.
“A perfectly healthy girl… Why are you only now getting your gender corrected? You clearly don’t care much for your daughter,” the doctor scolded Wang Haiyan, assuming this was a case of neglect or gender preference.
“We thought it didn’t matter. But now that she’s in college and living in the dorms, we have to get it sorted.”
Wang Haiyan’s eyes lit up with joy the moment she heard the doctor confirm Su Yun was female.
The doctor didn’t respond. She just sighed quietly.
“By the way, do you get dizzy often? I noticed signs of anemia in your report.”
“Mm, a little…”
Su Yun felt unsure how to respond to the doctor’s soft voice.
“Listen closely…”
The doctor went on to say a lot.
From her perspective, Su Yun seemed like a victim of neglect—late gender correction, unusual physical condition, signs of malnutrition. It didn’t look like she’d been eating properly either.
The doctor advised Wang Haiyan to take Su Yun for a full-body checkup. Based on her current state, there was even a risk of diabetes.
“Alright, we’ll go now. Thank you, doctor,” Wang Haiyan said with a bow before quickly leading Su Yun out of the room.
A full checkup? No way. Just finishing this safely was already a win.
When she saw “female” clearly printed on the gender confirmation report, Wang Haiyan couldn’t help but cry out in joy.
A whole week of effort had finally paid off.
Back in the office, the middle-aged doctor stared at the black-and-white scans, a puzzled look on her face.
Something didn’t feel right.
During the exam, everything had been oddly quiet. The machine detected no echoes from the internal tissues or organs—it was as if she had been scanning a corpse.
She’d meant to say something about it, but looking at Su Yun—clearly alive and well—she figured the machine had malfunctioned. Still, she had recommended they visit another department, just in case something serious was going on.
Poor child.
“I’m…” The next patient entered, interrupting her thoughts. She shook it off and prepared for the next consultation.
...
Although the report noted several anomalies, it clearly identified Su Yun as female.
That was all that mattered.
Su Yun stared at the black-and-white image, her brow furrowing as her body trembled.
So she could really have children?
“Ugh…”
She touched her lower abdomen, feeling both amazed and terrified.
But… she couldn’t possibly be like a normal human, right?
“Hmm? Sister Xiaoyun, what did the exam say?”
As soon as Su Yun stepped out, Qin Xue hurried over.
But what she saw was Su Yun holding her belly with a pained expression.
That confused Qin Xue even more—she didn’t understand what kind of exam Su Yun had gone in for.
Gynecology… belly pain… and she’d kept it secret...
Suddenly, an outrageous thought flashed through Qin Xue’s mind.
Was Sister Xiaoyun… pregnant?
Did she have a boyfriend? Has something happened?
“?????”
Qin Xue nearly had a breakdown. She rushed forward and grabbed Su Yun’s shoulders tightly.
“Ah, that hurts! What are you doing, Sister Xue…”
“Xiaoyun, are you pregnant?!”
Qin Xue couldn’t help but shout, and her voice drew the attention of everyone nearby.
They all turned to look at Su Yun.
She looked so young. A girl that young, already pregnant? That was seriously irresponsible.
But no one said anything. Most of the people there were sick themselves and had no energy to gossip.
“What do you mean pregnant?!” Su Yun was stunned by Qin Xue’s outburst and shrank back awkwardly.
“Right here! You’ve got something going on!” Qin Xue reached out, her gesture a bit rough at first, but when she touched Su Yun’s belly, her hand became gentle again.
